It depends on the study but philosophy is among the highest IQ professions, you will not see many women here because of the female bell curve distribution.

You don't understand, that is the politically correct graph. The difference in IQ distribution is uncontroversial what they don't tell you is that females have a higher IQ average until the age of 14 or so. Meaning all the studies which can be mentioned in polite society are those done among youths. Among adults it actually looks like men do not just have a more uneven distribution but also a significantly higher average.

Just google image female male IQ distribution and you will find that unequal distribution is the given result as it is at least academically uncontroversial. Now the difference in the average is very controversial but if you pick apart the tests used you will find that they favor women because they are less 'g-loaded' and often focus on the female verbal acumen (and not the stronger male competence in spatial reasoning for example). The average difference between males and females is somewhere between 3-7 points. This particular study has a small sample but its results have been confirmed by looking at the data of 15 million people. But this isn't really necessary to explain a general difference in high IQ professions which is why I didn't mention this research.
