Was only watching movies and TV shows

>suddenly enjoy books more that films and TV shows
I still enjoy the visuals and sound that comes with film, but I am much more critical of it, and tend to be very picky.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

yeah, we like books here

yeah that's why I'm here

i prefer film and music to books but spend most of my day reading

welcome on the other side.
tv and cinema got overtaken by commerce.

good books will always be written because their creation doesnt need much money.

The forms are so different it's kinda silly to compare. Books are always going to have more interesting content than Hollywood films because so little freedom is given to the text. Outside of Hollywood and other major studio systems you can get some pretty interesting stuff though. Try out Miklos Jancso, Lee Chang-dong, Lav Diaz, and Jon Jost.

>Lav Diaz
Quite literally the most overrated director of the 21st century and he’s virtually unknown lel. Fucking festivals fad.

Anyway, op is dumb.

A lot of Diaz fans are pretty unbearable and just proud of the fact they can get through a movie so long, he makes great use of structure though. If you've only seen Norte and want to give him another chance go for Melancholia, it's a masterpiece.

Seen 3 films of his already (that’s damn near 14 hours), but not Melancholia. Maybe if i can get find it one day.

FINALLY.

I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR SO MANY YEARS ON Yea Forums

We still get multiple what is the X of literature?threads everyday. THANKS SO MUFF

>tv and cinema got overtaken by commerce.
You could say the same about books
>but look at this really good but relatively obscure book that isn't made for commercial reasons
Same for film

Personally I developed interest in film kind of organically, and only after I had gotten into books. It's normal, nobody has to stick to a single art form.

This is actually said in every such thread, but people ignore it because it isn't productive for pointless discussions.
Also, please stop writing like a redditor

Literature is significantly less dependent on commerce. The only investment a book needs is whatever it costs to keep one person alive and reasonably comfortable.

It's because books are usually written by one individual and whatever their particular bias is at least it's an unsanitized opinion and viewpoint.

99% of film and mainstream media gets sanitized by a board of directors and falls flat for you if you have actually been exposed to anything that is a legitimately raw or real work by a writer/artist etc.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that there aren't tons of films made without commercial but with artistic goals in mind.
>The only investment a book needs is whatever it costs to keep one person alive and reasonably comfortable
Same for film + a camera

You honestly can't say mumblecore, experimental film and vlogs can compete with hollywood, but I would argue some good stuff with artistic merit intact gets through especially in the lower budget ranges; and there have been some directors with enough talent that they just get their way more.

Quality-wise experimental film is certainly better and more interesting than Hollywood. Commercially it can't and doesn't intend to compete.

And I would agree

PRIME ANA

This picture is peak degeneracy

Why? It's just kids having some fun

no, I didn't start reading because of some autists on the internet

The reason for all of this can be said in one word. Vision.
The more people are involved in your project, that goes double if they are in it for many and nothing else, the more your original point in making it is compromised

nah thats just what happens when you listen to rap once

That's great. Now start video games.

You need to pay/seduce a cast and crew. One man films don't really exist outside of the structuralists and a couple oddities like Flooding With Love For The Kid. Mumblecore still often ends up costing upwards of $100k.

>shit's wild as fuck
People really underestimate this. Like in pop culture the Iliad is meant to be some huge stuffy boring work and then you read it and it's non-stop blood and gore and violence and it's great.
