He is never ever condemned for his Zionist sympathies.

better dead than red

hack, hes bullshitted so much I'm not sure if hes a bernie sanders desperately wanting to believe in what he says or just laughing to the bank

I think that he won the first part of his "debate" with Foucault, while he lost the latter.

I think that he is insincere in his condemnation of republicans vis a vis global warming and so on. Because if he really believed in his heart of hearts that US republicans were such a catastrophe for the human species, and since as he's said, he is not a pacifist, then as a rational actor he would be obliged to take up arms and try to pop some of them. But he doesn't because he only eats veggies (I guess) and he's a hypocrite, as was pointed out by a student questioner in the above debate.

His support for Jewish White Nationalism and Ethnostates are pretty cool.

He said all pornography is exploitation. I mean do you even jerk off OP?

chimp.
dweeb.
honky.
dweeby-chimp
honky-dweeb.
chomsky-honk.

You know exactly how all these threads go. A bunch of posters will pop up, calling him a fraud and insinuating vaguely that his work is bogus, you can see them already. Then, when someone asks them to, with references, show exactly in his large body of works he's actually wrong and back it up, they immediately fall silent and scurry back into their hole. Check the backlog for this happening every single time. You see, these people are not arguing in earnest, and they certainly don't care about debating with anyone who's actually familiar with what Chomsky has written, what they're trying to do is to ward off people who might otherwise be interested in what he has to say by associating him with weakness and pseudery.

not sure if trolling or /pol/mind but he is an outspoken critic of Israel and its treatment of Palestinians

Okay heres a specific example (hauser et al 2002) bullshit all of it

He's brilliant, a fantastic scholar, a tremendous reader, and seems to have a good heart.

It is popular for small minded people who find his work inconvenient to suddenly become experts on linguistics, and say with certainty either that he "was even wrong about linguistics" or "was great as a linguist but makes a mess of politics and should stay in his lane." It is also popular to call him a supporter of the Khmer Rouge.

I also enjoy the work of his protegee, Norman Finkelstein, without whom there is a good chance I would have never begun to seriously read.

He's the GOAT.

He has good takes on media but otherwise he's retarded, as to be expected from an anarchist.

Can't speak for his linguistics stuff though

Is the book "Chomsky on Anarchism" any good? It looks like something AK press cobbled together and not a book Chomsky intended to write.

I guess I am interested in what form of anarchism someone smart as Chomsky actually vouches for, but I have a serious feeling if I read that I won't get anything explicit or prescriptive because it seems to me Chomsky is (understandably) more an anarchist critic in that he is critical of state power and economic hierarchy than he is a constructive anarchist theorist.

He's a really good /pol/ filter. If they push more bullshit than dung beetles against Chomsky then you know where they're from.

brainlet

I don't know much about his entire body of work, i've only read one of his books, but the fact that he attracts so much praise from milquetoast center-left morons is a big red flag.

You gotta be eighteen, mates.

It is cobbled together, but its interesting nonetheless. Noam is an anarcho-syndicalist btw. Check his talk government in the future which i think is included in it.

To OP:

Chomsky is a good liberal, a good, pentagon payed sort of liberal.

Chomsky is great. He takes the time to respond to every email I send him and always has interesting things to say. He clearly cares very deeply about what's best for people. His opinions on things often take some person or people I hadn't even thought of into account.

I'm one of those but I do know about languages (CE).
I'll check out your boy Finkelstein and give it another thought

at least he doesn't write self-help books

What’s his email again?

:3

His linguistics ideas are deeply flawed and no revision to his thesis will fix the underlying issue.

Any similiar writers with sweeping perspective but for europe?

noamchomsky AT email.arizona.edu or his MIT email both work.

Didn’t Friedman and Sowell completely BTFO Chomsky’s politics? I mean, Chomsky had hundreds of opportunities to debate Friedman when he was alive, but only now that he’s dead does Chomsky bad-mouth him.

To have an inch of respect for that fucking minor official you must be 15 and a woman.

English only, please.

I love the guy. He is a critic, not an activist, so I can see how this can be held against him. He'd rather focus on pointing out all evils of this world, than creating a ten step foolproof plan to make the world a better place.
However I don't know anyone else with a moral compass this good.

renowned linguist who has waded into topics not in his wheelhouse way too often. Ends up sounding very stupid.

But he did support Khmer Rouge. He's a contrarian, nothing special. That anyone deifies him is ridiculous.

probably the most important linguist ever, influential philosopher, very biased political commentator.

>openly supports Robert Faurisson
>"h-he's a zionist bros!!"
