Noir literature

Haven't seen a single thread discussing Noir literature, more seldom than i take out the trash.

Let's change that, and i'm not talking about the trash.

oh I think you are considering you want to talk about noir """"""""literature""""""""

Ross Macdonald is my favorite. I just finished the Wycherly Woman, which is not his best but still pretty great. It starts off a bit slow, as most of his do, but it does have a petty satisfying if implausible tweest.

I’m a big Crumley fan.
Dancing Bear is another good one of his.

Keep those recs coming boys

>>Haven't seen a single thread discussing noir
>>Let's change that
>doesnt provide discussion topic nor does OP attempt to discuss noir in any way
>thread just ends up becoming a rec thread
>this exact thread is actually posted weekly, typically with a Maltese Falcon or Big Sleep OP pic

Nightmare Alley is a great read, and great film too.
Not noir in the American sense, but definitely dark are Patrick Hamilton's novels like Hangover Square and 20,000 Streets under the sky.

I live the racist humor in this one.

LA Confidential and The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy
I dont like his later stuff as much when he changed style and wrote a lot of sentence fragments. These two novels were probably his peak.

kek

Whoops, I meant love
But live is applicable as well, so it all works out

what since yesterday?

I've literally never seen one, i visit here every three days. May i missed a recent one

I've read a lot in this genre. Dashiell Hammett is okay. Raymond Chandler is the king and most consistently good. Paul Cain's "Fast One" is the best noir novel I've ever read.

Step to the side for the superior MacDonald's experience.

A bit more arty and pretentious (but in a good way) than most noir novels

fuck people who think you should ONLY read masterpieces.
reading relaxing and pointless detectives is akin to watching movies for entertaiment, nothing wrong with it. gimme the noir lit to read on the train.

I'll give you Sven Hassel amigo.

The Dreamreapers.
Short, and a lot of paranormal elements, but good noir quality.

>I've literally never seen one
well there is always one up, and like said it is always pretty much the same thread

lol no thanks
