doesn't look like anybody cares mate

Yes

NO

Obviously. Why would you be asking that?

mfw there is some stupid narrow cultural definition of what constitutes as literature

only good light novels are literature, baka

They're at least better than western YA. The length of many LN series make them valuable for learning Japanese, but if you've read a few series of each genre, you've read them all.

I assume YA novels would be alright for learning English. I've read a small selection of both and found YA to be better written but far more pander-y

there is much literature

the question is whether it is art

art is innovation within the context of the tradition of art

so the answer is, some light novels could be artistic

all of them, by a pedantic definition, probably are

probably are literary, i mean

Cringe

why the fuck wouldn't they be?

>pandering
no, literary is about absolute truth

yes

Now that light novel is confirmed to be literature, I can tell people I'm well read.
Ah, feels good to be an intellectual.

Sure.

>words shouldn't mean anything

Really, I have found western YA to be far better than Japanese light novels, granted I haven't read romance YA but every light novel I have read is just too obviously a self insert power fantasy on the authors part, you got any good recommendations that aren't like this?
