GR is fun as fuck

This chart sucks, somebody post a good one

>Implying Alan Moore's novels are worse than Tolkien.
Absolute pseud

Maybe thats what this thread is about. Post a better one nigger.

I went through this twitter thread and listed all the books they designated ''red flags''

Attached: REDFLAGBOOKS.png (648x2936, 1.87M)

this is a good one

Could someone make a Chart on Ethics please?

Interesting how many of these are by white American men. Almost like there's some kind of unconscious bias on the part of these Twitter thots
Oh well, at least they left my boys Steinbeck and Melville out of this.

I don’t have any cracker

And I’m too lazy to make one

Type one out then. I'm reasonably new to Yea Forums and would like to know what you people have to say.

desu I was shocked by ''marley and me''

moby dick is super fun (if you can deal with the whale manual portions, which i personally didn't much)
plus ulysses is fun, at parts. still in the middle of it and i'm intimidated as all hell

Interesting how much of this is baby's first edgy novel or private school ennui core: all stuff that's both tiresome and aspirational.

I'm glad I love all of those (including Marley and Me). I'd never go on a date with some hyper-liberal Twitter thot and the idea that they think such a list even remotely impacts true intellectuals is laughable.

why are white western twitter women the way they are?

This whole thread is gold. Pic related is exactly how I imagine someone who doesn't want to date you because of your favorite book/author (which is Lolita in this case).

>make up all over the face making you look like a ghost, accented with very red makeup

why do white women do this
is it to cover wrinkles or something?

t. white supremacist

which one is the best one on the subject?

communism sounds good on paper but it never works

To cover up and/or distract from imperfections.

In one sentence, communism has been refuted

Japan adopts capitalism and suffers rolling famines:
>this was necessary for industrialization
India has capitalism force on them from abroad and suffers multiple famines:
>this was necessary for industrialization
World Bank and IMF's free trade demands for African nations depresses their once rising wages:
>this was necessary for their development
Privatization of Post-Soviet Russia leads to biggest drop of life expectancy in human history:
>this was necessary for economic growth
9.1 million die of starvation ever year:
>it's okay because obesity is a bigger problem than ever too
Stalin and Mao industrialize and collectivize massive agrarian nations over a relatively short period and famines occur:
>see, communism is good on paper but it never works

>Marx
>Fromm
>Zizek

except that japan, india, post soviet russia and the majority of nations where the world bank and imf intervened are still here, with at least semi-capitalist systems. the soviet union went bankrupt and china's trade economy is extremely capitalist.

marxist

> Land

What a fine specimen. I shall write a sonnet about her bountiful fivehead

>OP has read every graphic novel unpublished and deemed it shit

Next.

She's wearing an abundance of red because she is absolutely desperate for someone to love her, or at least throw her a pity fuck.
No woman who reads to this extent can be naturally naive about colour theory like this.
She's only pushing away imaginary Lolita fans to give away the secondary assumption that people approach her in the first place, which they don't, else-wise you wouldn't have this hyper-made-up-doll-face smothered in red (her bra shirt also bright red) making such an eager diluted pupil faced photo sent out to potentially millions.

I thought women wore red lipstick to hide herpes. Wasn't that why the romans invented it? I don't know. It's ugly though.

That's another good call.
Typically speaking when a woman denies a man it's quite plausibly in situations where she can be seen, an indicator that she values herself more than the person she denied, in an attempt that the man in the room she liked might see this value. Brainy people pretend they aren't shallow as a last defence, Brainy people who admit they are shallow are often just celibate and not in any involuntary way, no games etc.

>Brainy people who admit they are shallow are often just celibate
This is why I am asexual.

lmao @ this chart rn

>Japan adopts capitalism and suffers rolling famines
Source
>India has capitalism force on them from abroad and suffers multiple famines:
India has a caste system, have high tax/redistribution rates, doesn't have a free market
>World Bank and IMF's free trade demands for African nations depresses their once rising wages:
Wrong
>Privatization of Post-Soviet Russia leads to biggest drop of life expectancy in human history:
Only in Russia due to wrong transition methods. Poland and other blocs fared well. nytimes.com/2009/01/16/world/europe/16europe.html
>9.1 million die of starvation ever year:
In countries with low free trade rate yes
>it's okay because obesity is a bigger problem than ever too
Due to the technological society. Same problem would continue in a hypothetical but realistic transition to a left wing gov't considering left wingers would conserve the technological society.
>Stalin and Mao industrialize and collectivize massive agrarian nations over a relatively short period and famines occur
That's what we call "central planning".

Not every person who reads it but the people who say these books are their favorite book usually have that opinion.

hey jw do y'all have any idea where i might find eden eden eden in english?

Libgen

Ligotti definitely belongs on there but I would swap out Songs of a Dead Dreamer & Grimscribe with My Work Is Not Yet Done: Three Tales of Corporate Horror. Songs of a Dead Dreamer & Grimscribe have some pretty fucked up stories but nothing as relentlessly pessimistic as My Work Is Not Yet Done (the main story of the Three Tales of Corporate Horror collection). MWINYD focuses on a wannabe office shooter who tortures and kills his coworkers in some pretty disturbing ways.

Where does the "Dostoevsky is unenjoyable" meme come from? Were plebs forced to read him in high school? He has an immensely enjoyable sense of humor and a lot of crazy stuff happens in his novels.

Communism isn't possible yet. It can only come about when the automation revolution is complete. Marx and the revolutionaries inspired by him severely misjudged the timeline. As an ideology it makes more sense every passing day, but is still infinitely inferior to capitalism at the moment of this post.

I do remember reading a passage from C&P in high school.

IIRC, the person who called Lolita a "red flag" is a self-hating pseud. She called it a great book that she had read several times. Somehow, calling it your favorite book is still a red flag? Maybe with braindead normies. But if you have any respect for your date's thinking skills, then you should have no problem saying the truth.

Yeah, I don't get why people classify Dostoevsky as pseud/posturing-core. When I read TBK I couldn't put it down at parts, I hadn't been that into a book since I was a kid. Didn't Nabokov say he wrote soap operas? Nothing particularly elitist about it.

Prot trash. Real the DR.

No Rudyard Kipling?

thanks, good reply, that's helpful

Mr Palomar is a weird place to start with. It's more in the vein of his short story collections, though not as good as Marcovaldo or Cosmicomics.

Where is Towards a new socialism?

Fixed it.

This is so wildly inconsistent you can tell someone just googled “creepy books.”

A Modest Proposal and Babyfucker are entirely incomparable.

Oh I don't know if anyone cares but that critical thinking book "Creative and Critical Thinking" is impossible to find online. I'm starting a new job on on monday when I get paid I'm buying a used copy and making a pdf. I'll post it here for the boys

This is a pretty good list actually.

I don’t really understand what is bad about “Infinite Jest”.

Also did anyone else see “Eat Pray Love” on the Chart? WTF? I wish she would have Tweeted why they are flagged by her

Absolute lad, keep up the good work mate

Don't worry -- their disgust at your your disgust is undoubtedly mutual.

If any of you are feeling brave, then by all means publish YOUR list of red flag books. Otherwise, simply concentrate on getting the sand out of your genitalia and leave Yea Forums.

Anybody got a Yea Forums guide to poetry chart?

What is wrong with Hunter Thompson and Pynchon?

best in thread.

As human beings, probably just as much as the rest of us. As authors of the works in question, only their complete lack of foresight in not being born non-binary children with helicopter mommies.

white men

based as fuck for recognizing ultra heaven, gonna check some of these others out. thanks user

No idea why Pynchon.

Hunter S. Thompson, probably because of all the drugs, hallucinogens, booze, general misanthropy, disregard for authority...

Is there one for the crusades?

>no kostantinos kavafis

this but unironically

Subversive literature? Especially looking for stuff that questions the fundamental authority of governmental bodies. The US founding fathers would be a good place to start but after that I wouldn't know.

Graphic Novel are not the same as literature.

I hate how some americans see comics as an subproduct of literature. That's wrong. Comics are an art form on its own.

Awful chart.

THIS IS AN AMERICAN-SPEAKING BOARD STOP POSTING THIS MEXICAN SHIT

How do I even read some of these? Also anyone have any more personal charts

the legacy of totalitarianism in the tundra

half of these doesn't exist

What's wrong with BNW?
She's cute.

>novels
Nice try

Love You Forever is honestly so fucking based.

Does anyone have that homosexual chart? I just want more edgy gay stuff like mishima and hogg

You don't understand the point being made. The question is not 'is eg Gravitys Rainbow a good book?' It's 'which books, if brought up by a date, are red flags?'
And while Gravity's Rainbow is a good book, its definitely a red flag regards dating. Ask yourself who would bring that book up in conversation on a date, and why. A person who does such a thing is either socially inept, pretentious, or attempting to brag, or all three.

There's Lolita and hmmmm... I sure enjoyed Netochka Nezvanova, notably the scenes Netochka and Katya were loving and kissing each other in secret. Really cute moment.

>unconscious

Thanks but I'm looking for something like The ice Palace by Tarjei Vessas, Tiger Tiger By Fragosso and Lamb by Bonnie Nadzam

no lord of the rings? no harry potter? no game of thrones? no hunger games? no dosto? no tolstoy? no stephen king? no mccarthy? let this be a lesson to you all, girls aren't into 'analyzing' literature, they like things that are entertaining and they can take at face value. they don't like the idea of a guy being so indecisive and weak-minded that he has to be persuaded by a book, placing his trust in another flawed human being. nothing turns them off more than hearing, 'well, i think it makes some good points.' it would seem they are wary of 'subversive' literature, like the red scare of the 50's in the opposite direction. i don't take this seriously at all, i had a girlfriend i introduced to the fountainhead and it became one of her favorite books.

no fist of north star, no ninja scroll, no md geist, no cybercity 808, no genocyber, no trigun, no bebop, no tekkonkinkreet, no tokyo godfathers, who made this shit?

just realized the most glaring oversight in this list: A Clockwork Orange. Also, 1984
