Any opinions on The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks? I'm in the middle of Shadow's Edge after getting the 10th Anniversary Edition of the trilogy. It's definitely not excelling at anything but it's not terrible. I'd like to hear some others thoughts, though God only knows why I'm asking Yea Forums
Blake Smith
It's escalating power fantasy with magic ninjas. You know what you got yourself into.
Michael Nguyen
Why is Malazan so popular, around here? Erikson's pretty imaginative, I'll give him that, but his prose is unbearable.
It is garbage. I usually can enjoy pretty much any novel in the genre, at least a bit, but The Night Angler is pure irrational, self-insert shit with generic worldbuilding, stupid and cliche characters and the only interesting plot point was not being developed.
Nathaniel Adams
Gormenghast or Latro in the Mist
Dylan Baker
Night angel is worse than part 1 naruto but better than shippuden.
Levi Hill
I like how the ascendants are all huge dorks put in serious roles.
Nicholas Robinson
>made the last 2 threads about fantasy >fantasy is for losers ???
merchant princes, Vorkosigan saga, stainless steel rat
Eli Howard
It's World Building: the Series. I will give you that he gave exponentially more attention to former, but it's not like Malazan is badly written.
>but his prose is unbearable. What can I say? Taste will be taste. Some can't stand Cook's prose in Black Company for being too terse and skipping over epic battles they want to read about, apparently.
Lincoln Cooper
Didn't know that. Don't need to read it though, did plenty of times.
so here I am being a good boy and reading the black company, but then raven appears. is he an insufferable gary stu he comes across as or is there more to it? reference for where I am in the book - company rickrolled the limper with the shapeshifter's help.
Oliver Reed
>What gave you that impression? Reading the Elric books.
Jonathan Baker
Jorg from Broken Empire. Rapes and kills for the lolz.

Ian Garcia
>is he an insufferable gary stu he comes across as or is there more to it? I don't remember if his skills (good with weapons, tracking) were explained in later books, but in first book his is stu ish, though perhaps mentally stunted one.
Lucas Moore
Raven is actually one of the more layered characters, but his history is largely unexplored in the first book and he keeps up the tough guy act throughout. You'll have to keep reading but he's definitely not perfect.
>Nine Princes in Amber Dara a waifu but yeah, terrible fit
Zachary Sanchez
>we got Lady instead of Soulcatcher as the main waifu not fair!
Nicholas Murphy
I mean, what are your modern fantasy choices?
Nathaniel Hall
Indeed. so amateurishly written its painful. Deadhouse Gates was an improvement, tho

Henry Turner
Sula from Masters of Rome >has a twink bf >murders his sugar mommy >shoves his fist down his step daughters throat for refusing to marry his choice >betrays his master >slaughters lefties
Adam Williams
KEW's Kane is basically a straight up villain (though he does have the odd story or two where he's not completely villainous). KEW described him as, "not a sword and sorcery hero; he is a gothic hero-villain from the tradition of the Gothic novels of the 18th and early 19th centuries."
Because if so, it sounds like a pretty amusing read.
Wyatt Russell
Broken Empire and The Aspect Emperor are probably my top picks. Solid series, both.
Carter Johnson
any other people who really liked the first law trilogy? pic related is probably my favorite book of all time. on my second re-read right now and enjoying it more than ever.

“Mordermi need not know. He has not been my first lover, nor will he be my last. I’m no austere maiden like my sainted sister.” “It doesn’t matter,” Conan protested, knowing that if matters went any further his passions would override his ethics. “Mordermi is my host and my friend. I’ll not cuckold him in his own house.”
Based Conan isn't into that degenerate liberal bullshit.

Jonathan Torres
>don't want to bog down the thread mate between sanderfag poster and master of rome user idk how much you'd bog it down
Jose Scott
I mean all it would be is me rambling about speculative biology, cartography, and such things. I could talk about characters as well.
I doubt I will ever finish it but when I look through all my notes and ideas it would be roughly 14 conflicts in the entire Continuation War. This would be around 32 books. It technologically spans an era from the late renaissance to roughly 200 years into our own future.
Dominic Harris
Its grimdark and edgy, and many things the characters did were cringey.
It was a fun ride though, not everything has to be a life changing epic or be meaningful. It was popcorn fantasy and if I was in the mood I would read something like it again.
Jaxson Bell
weeks is a fine enough author until you hit the point in each series that he decides he wants to a) be edgy and b) have twists and reveals
both fall apart from then on
Charles Butler
>32 books >500 year period Jesus Christ.
Oliver Hill
21 books 1800 year period has already been done tbf so you have to amp up one way or the other
Anthony Cooper
Any other examples of series that are pure fantasy worlds that transition from fantasy to sci-fi like what Birdboi is planning?
Ryan Adams
he's just ripping off mistborn isn't he?
Elijah Hernandez
Is he? How are they similar?
Evan Hill
Just finished The Boats of the Glen Carrig. Definitely recommend even though a lot of Hodgson's nautical horror is a rehash of DudE tHe WeEdS LmAo
Jeremiah Stewart
It isn't really, and from what Birdboi says The Continuation War dwarfs basically everything in scope.
John Miller
The Vorrh series, Empty Space trilogy, Shriek: An Afterword, Sisyphean
He's a white liberal. This actually makes him worse than a cuck, he's a sort of ur-cuck who despises his own people and nation so deeply that it is not merely enough that he allows himself to be cucked, he must facilitate the cuckoldry of his entire race. He is a sort of cuck-networker, a cuck-promoter, a necessary cuckevil, the Vince McMahon of cucks. So great is his desire for there never to be another redhead or woman with blue eyes in the world that he will champion any amount of dysgenic immigration. So great is his loathing for diversity and feature that he would erase every color from the human race save the dull brown of the Hindoo.
Oh yes. He is a traitor not only to his own race, but in fact to the very concept of mankind. To every man who has ever smelled the red hair of a girl, or stared into green eyes during sex, the white liberal would rob you of that. He would ensure that your grandchildren had only brown eyes to stare into. He would ensure that all hair is black and tighly curled. No fair skin, no tawny locks, no gray eyes. No diversity at all.
Fortunately thanks to the miracle of Roe vs Wade, the next generation of white liberals currently resides in the dumpster behind your local Planned Parenthood. Good riddance I'd say.
Shannara by Terry Brooks Darksword by Margaret Weis There are few more series that do that but i'm retarded and can't remember them
Noah Flores
Hey Birdboi, what are your politics so I can know if you're yikes-tier?
Angel Carter
>the next generation of white liberals currently resides in the dumpster behind your local Planned Parenthood Kek, I swear I've seen you post this exact phrase before
Yea. Especially if you like evil demi-goddess waifus.

It's good in a punchy "Vietnam but medieval" sort of way, but it suffers from what I might call "criminally unlikable protagonists" syndrome.
There is not a single likable character in the main cast. Every single one of the named characters deserves to die, the only question is how painfully.

What happened to Alastair Reynolds? Why is he writing childish shit now? I cannot fucking believe the same man who wrote Revelation Space and Chasm City is churning out crap like Slow Bullets and Blue Remembered Earth. Fuck!
Kayden Evans
Nah mate you're wrong. Don't tell me they're unlikable when they do shit like go out of their way to turn back and warn some villagers to get the fuck out of dodge before they're interrogated and killed.
James Cox
I'm still waiting for Book 5 in Lightbringer where the fuck did demonology come from in this goddamn series about people using gay rainbow magic

>She is the last hope of good in the war against the evil sorceress known as the Lady. From a secret base on the Plains of Fear, where even the Lady hesitates to go, the Black Company, once in service to the Lady, now fights to bring victory to the White Rose. But now an even greater evil threatens the world. All the great battles that have gone before will seem a skirmishes when the Dominator rises from the grave. I thought Lady was the heroine?
traveler's gate is anime. His next series Cradle is chinkshit. If you've watched enough anime or read enough chinkshit you won't care.
Jayden Brooks
never read chinkshit before, only heard memes about cultivation, sell me on it
Michael Kelly
They start off as decent time wasters. Of course that only lasts for so long. After reading a few you'll never want read one again because they're all the same shit.
Easton Wright
I meant sell me on cradle in particular
Landon Smith
Western Chinkshit. There's not much to say. The first book was terrible. The second book was okay and I haven't gotten around to reading the rest. Maybe it's because I already read chinese webnovels before that I have a lukewarm impression of it. Just try it and see if you like it I guess.

Thoughts on The Illuminatus Trilogy? I got it as a gift almost a year ago because someone picked it at random and I haven't cracked it open yet.
Elijah Nelson
I tried reading it a few years ago but it wasn't for me, it's just too weird

It’s YA wuxia. Which means lots of pill popping to increase your strength. It’s pretty enjoyable, for what it is, but it doesn’t really take off till the second book, when the best character shows up.

Cameron Adams
I was talking about book 5 never coming. It got delayed three times already.
Levi Ross
Everyone here hates Martin because he broke through the fantasy fandom into the mainstream. Plus, his series is really well thought out, with great characters and plot, and fun to read, so naturally Yea Forums is going to run him through the mud
Jayden Cooper
Think of it like a bloopers reel.
Lincoln Reyes
I dont browse too often, but if its not Goodkind then this general is a waste of time

This fag released another trash heap, and I'm sure it ends without answering questions it put forward at the start of the book. Like it did with the last one.
Got through the first five WoT books and am starting Lords of Chaos. When do these books get bad? Nynaeve travelling with the circus was really lame, but so far I haven't seen any of the plot slowdown people complain about.
Thomas Moore

Sandersons cosmere is gonna be like 40 or something and he's already in his early 40s
Gavin Lopez
You are very stupid.
Lincoln Wright
Mistborn seems to be planning it, after the Wax and Wayne stuff finishes up there's gonna be a series set in the far future. Which is probably going to have to wait until after shit gets dealt with in Stormlight because afaik Wax and Wayne takes place around the same time as Stormlight and whatever happens to the Shards on Roshar will have big consequences for Harmony.
Bentley Morales
>Sanderson >Sci-Fi The man can barely write fantasy.
Isaiah Turner
What are some fantasy books with an interracial main couple? Pic related.
Read them all, including a knight of the seven kingdoms and fire and blood. I love asoiaf, idk why thats such a controversial position on this board, considering what other anons recommend

>elr Remeber that he alt right have a search and destroy campaign out on Moorcock any brightbart posters might just be anti Moorcock who cres if Elric is or isnt edgy Just read Elric and any Moorcock yes he is dated but also he is a true originator and possibly the best Science Fiction writter ever and a better typer and woritter than me He was involved woth Hawkwind the alt right must hate them silence the hippy alt right freedom of speech is supression of Moorcock
people on this site have a severe lack of actual critical analysis skills in general, everything is either shit or the best thing ever. combine that with being contrarian and hating on "genre fiction" to fit in and you have your answer. not saying asoiaf is the best thing ever (Martin is better suited to short stories than long series, even the Dunk & Egg stories are better than the main series), but the people who say that it's outright shit are likely younger and haven't read a lot of books to begin with. they're like people who claim that Dark Souls and Skyrim are shit.
Jackson Garcia
Why are you still reading the series and on Book 4 if you didn't like the rest??
Landon Taylor
Skyrim is pretty shit.
Ryan Gray
It's free everyday user
Jason Roberts
not really, I'd even argue that mechanically Oblivion is worse because of its busted leveling system and weird design choices. Skyrim's base game was pretty well optimized on release (for a bethesda game) and works as intended for the most part, and the main story is better and more interesting even if they fucked Alduin's lore up. putting personal opinions aside, Skyrim is an entirely playable and functional game.
Jeremiah Richardson
>Dunk & Egg stories are better than the main series I completely disagree here, but thank you for the response Skyrim has everything you could want in a game, unlike Oblivion which places you in a dull world and punishes you for following the main quest. I cant speak on Morrowind because ive never played it, but Skyrim was a near perfect adventure rpg
Nathaniel Young
Reading pic related. Might be the best Culture book i've read so far? >Dunk & Egg stories are better than the main series Nah, Martin will redeem himself, just wait and see.
I read Brent Weeks’ first black prism book and it was one of the worst things I’ve ever read. The overall story was good but the execution and prose was a disaster. It really shows that he was a bartender before he started writing
Nathan Rodriguez
/sffg/, I think I need to put this story down and work on something else. The world and core idea have some potential and I'm a lot closer to finding a solution than I used to be, but ultimately I don't think this is something I'm capable of solving alone. Frankly it might be easier to write other stories and hope I can eventually talk a better author into Good Omens-ing it with me.
The Golem And The Jinni is pretty good. It's both inter-racial and inter-species, although their romantic status is a bit ambiguous
Nathan Martin
First dragon lance trilogy Cradle books The emperors blades Curse of chalion Memory, sorrow and thorn Some of robin Hobbs works Licidious trilogy
Adam Campbell
I enjoyed it a lot. Cradle is good too
Christopher Bennett
I stopped at book 3(which I thought was the end because of the length). It gave more questions than answers by the end. And tried too many convoluted plots within plots. Had to drop the series.
I was just letting fags know he still publishing this shit.
Thomas Stewart
Starts at 7 and ends at around 10. 7 is by far the worst, the rest are okay. There's a lot of slog but there are quite a few major events as well. Also, Mat peaks in these books so if you enjoy Mat you'll get through the other sloggy parts no problem.
Asher Hill
Editing it for 3 fucking years plus? He even pushed back publishing at least twice. That tight pussy part 2 better be worth the wait.
>tight pussy I fucking forgot about this, this and the "yeah the short elves die giving birth to human babies" thing made me question Brent's fetishes.
David Sullivan
>that killing intent feel when redshits and visitors take your memes to facebook I must see blood.
Jaxon Robinson
What?
Christian Foster
I think he was trying to open the legs, and tight walls, of someone with real life tight pussy syndrome. He did it as a show of faith to show he was serious about giving her the dick. And would find a way to plant his dick.
Andrew Ward
I saw a few memes I made here over the years end up on failbook
Brandon Smith
...No, no I remember now, Tisis is basically his IRL Wife, who apparently had the same weird tight pussy condition.
Nolan Garcia
He's married? Man what I wouldn't give for an older mommy gf with the pussy of an eternal virgin teenager.
Angel Sanders
the one I've been shitposting about for three years now. At the moment, the version I have figured out is a mixture of Alice in Wonderland and Annhilation with painfully animesque elements, starring a character who's basically edward elric except that instead of being genius at alchemy he's a genius at cooking.
I've got a good portion of the plot down – which is a damn sight more than I've had for years – but a lot of my plot elements don't really fit together well and I don't really have any villain I'm happy with.
I'd do better just writing a different story.
wow, Something More Than Night isn't something I expected to see on a list here.
Has anyone else read it? I felt like I was the only one.
Ryan Green
yeah, I'm a fag that reads the foreword and stuff, lemme get you the author's note:
Is there anything remotely like homestuck out there in terms of scale, complexity, plot twists and action?
Camden Walker
Why would anyone want to read a book that had this as an author's note...
Sebastian Walker
>he says in the genre fiction thread
David Lopez
>he says this as if even cringier shit doesn't exist in every other literary genre
Jose Foster
Obviously it was something that was pretty personal to him and he probably got sick of years of people thinking it was a joke, a weird fetish, some kind of misogynist snark, or a mean plot point.
Wyatt Perez

When I was a teenager I randomly got a 40k book from the library and it had a extended sequence about a assassin disguised as a genestealer pooping.
Connor Campbell
How much did you already write? Worldbuilding may be your strenght but its useless without the skills to bind it all together.
Write birdboi. WRITE. It may take years until you are really good.
What are the factions again and maybe a short synopsis of the story u gonna do?
Love you birdboi
Brayden Torres
Based and primal-pilled Cucks get the rope first
Elijah Smith
hahaha i have got to read these early 40k books
how the fuck did a series about a guy turning his dump into an energy bar and eating it become the most super-serious shit on earth. They should really just start interjecting that type of feel back into it.
Liam Roberts
already read it sadly.
I wish I had the kind of autism needed to write something like that
Matthew Moore

i liked those books compfy
John Roberts
Tell me about Rothfuss, why is he a cuck? Tell me about Morish cock, why does he hate Tolkien?
Asher Hernandez
he wrote a self insert character that basically refuses to fuck any girl but is okay with loving a literal whore who gets passed around
Jonathan Gray
I guess it's one of those cases of wanting to turn whore into a good girl? Tbh, I wish there was more fantasy romance were protagonist seduces evil sorceress or some other vileness and brings her to his side.
Charles Nguyen
It's not.
I'm interested in a series where evil sorceress gives up such great pussy that the mc becomes a despotic ruler.
Pretty good imo. I have not red esselmonts other stuff tho.
Juan Torres
I read the authors note, but it said nothing about his wife. That's why I came up with the theory that he was trying to loosen some gril's tight walls.
Brandon Watson
>how would you go about filling a chapter of walking through darkness Blindfold yourself then walk around your house for an hour then turn that experience into a chapter.
Connor Taylor
Recommend me books about petty immortals feuding with each other and using mortals as pawns.
>Tell me about Morish cock, why does he hate Tolkien? He's a leftshit and they hate anyone who isn't also a leftshit that writes leftshit shit.
Evan Morales
>implying your loose slut wife isn't the one to approach and coerce strangers to fuck her cause you can't satisfy her You cuckold are really a piece of work. You blame everyone else except your stacey wife for being a whore who can't stay faithful. You put your slut wives on a pedestal and believe everything she says. It entertains me greatly when she finally divorces you and takes your hard earned life's work, while riding her new bf's dick. mgtow
Luis Cruz
Broken Sword
Dylan Russell
It was decent but I've enjoyed arguably worse books a lot more, just something about it. There are parts and scenes in books that really hit the right note and are so incredibly satisfying, the First Law trilogy almost never did that for me though. First time seeing the Bloody Nine emerge was about the most excited I got, and the 2nd book was an absolute snoozefest aside from the North and Dagoska.
Luke Bell

Any fantasy books based around Celtic mythology or Celtic theming?
Gemmell's Rigante series, Celts vs Romans in an alt world. Heroic fantasy.
Brody Thomas
Cradle? It's chinkshit written by a western author, it's inspired by wuxia/xianxia minus all the cringe.
Cooper Miller
Warlord Chronicles
Samuel Baker
no. wuxia is rooted in chinese history. they actually refered to martial artists as cultivators of the body. everything that happens in wuxia is basically what happened in chinese history. you know minus the super powers. but the pill fuckery, medicinal herbs etc all happened in chinese history. the chinks tough are very unimaginative. so all of their fiction includes their history with gods and supernatural things interspersed. if you want chinkshit that isnt really a story at all you can try chink philosophy books.
Evan Taylor
My first Conan pastiche! Over halfway through this and it's been good up until now. Having previously read KEW's Bran Mak Morn pastiche Legion from the Shadows I would say Road of Kings has been the better written pastiche from him. Legion from the Shadows suffered from quite a bit of obvious padding (even though there was still some great stuff in there) whereas almost everything in Road of Kings so far feels important to the story and characters. Even though I haven't finished it yet I feel comfortable in recommending it for those anons who are fans of the original REH stories but haven't bothered to check out any of the pastiches yet; just so long as you keep in mind that KEW isn't REH, but he's definitely giving it his all in this book.
Gemmell is so comfy. Now revving up druss the legend and im sliding through the pages like a warn knife through butter.
Isaiah Reyes
Everworld has some Celtic gods.
Evan Gomez
Rigante series was my first foray into Gemmell. And even though he spends a lot of time on family and relationship shit you do end up caring for the characters a bit more than you normally would have in a Gemmell story.
Lincoln Thompson
>demi-goddess
It's funny because Ten Who Were Taken, and possibly even the Dominator who essentially had a huge flaw of being a narcissistic egomaniac, were arguably small time compared to horrors of history like Kina.
>Gemmell is so comfy He really is. Just finished Quest for Lost Heroes, shit was a satisfying read.
Isaac Phillips
>Protag magically gender swaps antag >Bullies her (him) into becoming his ally >They keep doing things previously established that only people with a extremely close bond should do together because of the level of trust required >The currently ritual thing they're doing together resembles marriage Oh no.
“And who carried them in and out of the forest?” Santiddio asked patiently. Inizio’s scowl darkened. “An owl.” “An owl?” “That’s right. A big damn owl.” “You mean like a carrier pigeon?” Santiddio pressed him. “Like that. Flies at night, beats the door with its wings. Letter tied to its leg.”
Looks like J.K. Rowling ripped off Karl Edward Wagner.
Caleb Richardson
I'm not attracted to men. So no, never sucked dick. And I never sucked another's man dick from my stacey gf's mouth, which just gave a bj to another guy either.
>read the way of kings just to give sanderson a try as some lads had him in the stack/bookshelf threads here >thought I would just finish it and be done >understand the prose is subpar >tfw read the whole thing in like a week and a half and now want closure for the series >tfw basically signed up to read 10000 more pages of sandy """prose""" because I wanna see how this ends I mean, I know a bunch of people who have read all of the game of thrones, which is just as bad if not worse because george is going to die before he finishes it. At least, thats how im rationalizing it to myself right now. H-help.
Alexander Bennett
That's actually one of the things I liked most about those books. Usually I'm not one for the relationship stuff but I loved the way Gemmell handled it. Did you notice how almost every character changes drastically as the story progresses based on their life experiences? That kind of deep character development is almost unheard of in S&S/Heroic fantasy.
Pretty much liked every book I've tried that he's written except Hawk Queen. Maybe I would have liked Hawk Queen as well if I kept reading but I dropped it as soon as I realized the fem MC is the village bicycle and proud of it.
Jackson Brown
I don't think the Dominator was small time as much as he was so overpowered he never really NEEDED anything like finesse or guile which was what ultimately did him in. His magic was simply that powerful.
Christian Sanders
>Croker askes if Taken have/need friends >Soulcatcher says "sometimes" >all of this after describing "his" female forms I was happy at that point, but my hopes were crushed...

We kept trying to tell you that Soulcatcher is shit. Not only is she a slut, she's a mentally unhinged bitch. Lady is objectively superior.
>voices of the people she's killed aka actual SOUL catcher >fractured mind where her original self only occasionally surfaces >conclave of willing personalities chiming in with their expertise >MAGIC, BITCH
Ryan Cooper
Both of them are like that, I think Croker admits that it. I wish we got yandere one instead tho.

>That kind of deep character development is almost unheard of in S&S/Heroic fantasy. Because it's usually not needed or wanted; at least for S&S. S&S, at it's purist, is all about action and forward momentum (and by action I don't mean just combat and battles; I mean things happening to move the story forward). When you spend too much time on character development it can really turn the story into a slog. All that being said I still enjoyed the Rigante books even if they're not more S&S-flavored like the Drenai books. I must have read the entire series half a dozen times.

A lot of the voices are people who made deals with her
Lady might be a bitch, but she certainly isn't a slut though.

She took a final look about the sacred grove, at the spring and her hearth, at the giant elm wherein she had made her home a part of nature. Her eyes glowed with emotion, and her lips tightened as she gazed at the last upon the grave. “I sought to find a sanctuary from the evil in our world. I found it here in the grove of Jhebbal Sag. I vowed never to leave this haven. But evil has revealed its presence to me even here, and I must break my vow to erase the shadow it has flung across the grove.” “Afterward,” Santiddio said awkwardly, “you can come back to your grove and dwell here in peace.” “Ah, no. I shall never return. Only once in the life of a soul is sanctuary revealed. Once renounced, it shall be forever lost.”
And now I'm sad.
Elijah Edwards
Wouldn't call Soulcatcher one either.

Strewn throughout the chamber with no more order than a child scatters her dolls about were human cadavers in every stage of decomposition. A mummy sprawled stiffly in a pile of tattered wrappings; its case was filled with a tangle of dried bones—some mineralized, others with shreds of red flesh. A shelf held a number of human fetuses, floating in preserving fluid. A beautifully articulated skeleton hung from a hook against the wall. Beside it hung some desiccated horror that desert winds had seared. A mass of charred bones had been dumped in a pile on the floor. Next to it lay something that Conan first thought was a lifelike doll, then saw that it wasn’t a doll.

>But Tolkien doesn’t ask the question: What was Aragorn’s tax policy? Did he maintain a standing army? What did he do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these orcs? By the end of the war, Sauron is gone but all of the orcs aren’t gone – they’re in the mountains. Did Aragorn pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby orcs, in their little orc cradles? How do you respond?

>read First Law years ago and mildly enjoyed it >start reading The Heroes for some reason >couldn't stand any of it
Thank you, my white friend. In fact I just finished the book and still very much recommend it for Conan fans. Even though its highs don't quite reach the same highs in KEW's other REH pastiche, Legion from the Shadows, it is by far better consistently written with very little discernible padding to stretch it out to novel length.
Probably because the man who fought in WW1 saw enough depressing shit irl unlike that fat fuck Martin who loves to masturbate himself over being "realistic and gritty" yet if he ever got put in any of those situations himself he'd die of a heart attack due to pure fear.

>implying there isn't plenty of "depressing shit" in Tolkien's works

What are some series that have a romance between a younger guy and an older woman?
I'm not asking for fetishes or erotica, I'm asking for genuine romance user.
Jason Diaz
I'm asking for both.
Caleb Mitchell
Nice,i like KEW so i'm gonna give it shot, the only conan pastiche i read where the ones by Sprague de Camp which were okay, his King Conan stories are cool if you want to see old conan trying to be a dad.
Joshua King
Yeah except some cuck faggot on lit is harassing me
Bruh I already informed you why you shouldn't be reading Hawk Queen in one of my posts.

I'd recommend KEW's Legion from the Shadows as well even with its flaws. It has a nice grim tone of horror throughout the entire story and his prose is particularly Howardian as fuck. But you should definitely read REH's Worms of the Earth first if you haven't already since Legion from the Shadows is basically a sequel to that story.
lol I didn't even know they had chick narrators for audiobooks. Which series is it?
Isaac Fisher

How does Yea Forums feel about this book? I've been struggling to get through it. I've heard great reviews, but so far it seems like a libertarian circlejerk behind a thinly veiled plot. I feel that the character interactions are very unrealistic and the sotry's pace is choppy at best. The only thing I've found interesting so far is the narrative structure and even that is losing its luster.
tl;dr I'm halfway through, is it worth it to keep reading this memebook?
>being this stupid >books with female mcs should be narrated by a man in falsetto

nope. why would i after the first?

I'm currently developing a setting that begins in what you could compare to the Bronze Age and exists up to a Napoleonic analog as of right now. Not sure if I'd want to move it along to a sci-fi period but that certainly is an interesting thought that I'd never considered before. Thanks for the idea.
