the simple fact of the matter is most of reality is just 1s and 2s, cause and effect
there isn't typically much more to a situation, and if there is it's almost always because someone was negligent in not recognizing the initial 1s and or 2s

I read a story by Platonov where one of the characters does this. He starts at some random page number and, as an exercise in imagination, tries to figure out what led to the events currently unfolding. Thought that was fun
