>limp 7/10
His idea of the 1-10 rating system is absolutely fucked.
A 7/10 is a book that deserves a second reading.
Everything about his review screams 5/10.

Why are there so many arabics on goodreads? It feels like 80% of reviews are english and the other 20% are all arabic. Very few other foreign language posts

they are all of Islamic scholars from the middle-ages, they are just really, really, really old and they managed to live this long.

this one hurts to read
women truly are incapable of understanding men

I would like to know this too. What makes this the platform they use? It's like how Line is only used by Japan, Taiwan, and american weebs.

good lord. I look at her not with contempt but pity.

>book I really like
>let's see what people say about it
>open fagreads
>top review is one-star

I found this one obnoxious because she cannot distinguish the entire point of the book. The sinners in hell are TORMENTED. The souls in purgatory endure pious SUFFERING for their transgressions. It's the natural progression from the inferno’s recognition of sin: the difficult road of renouncing sin

Does Yea Forums unironically use goodreads? It's a trash site

To laugh (or get angry)

It's funny because I remember reading this very review and hating it. The one I'm posting isn't retarded but it's one that always sticks in my memory for being an amusing insight into Thoreau's character based on his lack of respect using someone else's tools.

Attached: axethoreau.png (438x597, 49K)

She is right purgatory is retarded Catholic idea

This is amazing.

I feel like I'm missing some context, what does he mean? He disapproves of thoreau’s use of an axe?

He borrowed an axe and didnt take good care of it. I'm not sure what else there is to explain, maybe I get it because I am a roughneck Cletus who comes from folk who work with their hands. The review reminds me of something some one like my grampa would say (except that Walden was my grampa's favorite book).

The reason you should have found this obnoxious is she/he/xhor isn't able to contextualize.

Wow. Stumbling on this incidentally is the second piece of evidence that Thoreau was something of a fraud. The first piece was realizing the proximity and frequent returns to civilization during his "escape to nature."

Purgatory doesn't exist

Can you read? Purgatory is an allegory for the renounciation of sin

lol

There was one extremely retarded of Being and Time on Goodreads, see if I can find it.

Ladies and gentlemen:

This shit has to be bait. The way he unironically throws the “it’s about fishing” meme at the end seems to be too fucking convinient. If it’s not bait, humanity was a mistake. I just hope God ends it quickly

Not quite a review but it still pisses me off. Abridged books are the fucking worst

Attached: image:20010.png (1001x329, 47K)

False doctrine

>nihilo-individualist topoi
What

He makes that book sound really interesting. Think I'm gonna buy it now.

>Abridged books are the fucking worst
why?

posting a classic

Attached: plato.png (413x784, 70K)

>recapitulates the supposed content of the book with a glib single sentence that he probably got from the back cover
>proceeds to complain about "H-bomb's" introduction and the fact that he's a Nazi (shocking)
>stirner is a "proto-fascist"
>"misanthropy" and "illiberal" are dirty words
scintillating stuff

Attached: bugs.jpg (420x153, 22K)

What does the actual doctrine say?

This post unironically makes me mad. This guy has to be joking. There's no way that's what he got from it.

It's in Orthodox too, they just call it something else.

This reminds me of that copypasta of the black guy on the train who says something like “you must be retarded because you’re reading Plato”

Attached: 20190306_152449.jpg (1080x700, 287K)

Thanks

>That reaction image
Where can I find it? It would be a fine addition to my folder.

Someone post that review of the Quran in Arabic with the Max Stirner profile pic, gets me everytime

>12.8k votes
what the fuck. this has got to be one of the most blasphemous, infuriatingly faggy posts i've read
anyone who doesn't experience moby dick in its true, long, meandering, poetic prose form is truly missing the entire point of the book
fucking moby dick in fucking abridged form. can't get over this retardation

This is from Antigone.
>The beginning was very anti-climatic
Is probably the most hilarious critique I've ever read.

Attached: killme.png (647x219, 53K)

I actually think this is Vox Day. He has some equally retarded hot takes on Plato.

Someone post that Stirnerian Quran review

I dare you to read this.

>this was written many years ago

Book? It actually sounds cool.

Pedro Paramo - dry and dreamy, but cool indeed

>postmodern and absolute crap are two distinct tags

but why?

>Triggered Philosophags can't stand that he's spot on

Regardless, if that's a review of the Divine Comedy, it seems weird to critique the Catholic Universe and not Dante's fanfiction itself

Most Americans correlate 1-10 ratings to the US school grading system. 7 is a C or average, 6 is a D or Below Average and 1-5 is varying levels of shit. It's pretty easy to understand if you're /offthespectrum/

>Tertullian writes about purgatory
>Pope Gregory I writes about purgatory
>Pope Innocent IV uses 1 Corinthians 3:13-15
>Book of Wisdom 3:1-5 suggests there might be some salvation in the afterlife
>Martin Luther, 95 Theses: 16. Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven seem to differ as perfect despair, imperfect despair, and security of salvation differ.
>Martin Luther, 95 Theses: 17. It seems as must in Purgatory love in the souls increase, as fear diminishes in them.
>Martin Luther, 95 Theses: 71.He who speaks against the truth of apostolical pardons, be anathema and cursed.
>retarded Catholic idea

Like similar sites (Discogs, MAL, etc.), there's something nice about a site you can use as a database and checklist for things you've experienced (read, watched, listened to/owned) and things you'd like to. The userbases for sites like this are awful, but having an easy to use tool to keep your shit in order is nice.

Just crop it from there. The degradation of its resolution could only add to its quality.

Can Yea Forums understand these passages?

Attached: mad brainlet.png (1920x1200, 485K)

What book?

Critique of Cynical Reason by Peter Sloterdijk

funny :)

This woman has no idea how to appreciate the irony of a fisherman / hunter / herder suffering somehow by the fault of those they exploit and cause violence towards, in this case being punished by the very means of his shitty occupation. As in all cases where the misfortune of one of these untouchables occurs and is artistically described, the book sounds delightful. She has no taste.

It is a bit pretentious t b h
'Dies', 'quasi-neoclassically', I don't know what those words mean and I feel like there is really not reason to use those words when simpler words suffice.
Maybe I'm just a brainlet though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can't be assed to find screencaps but I remember looking up Antifragile the other day and there were a ton of 1-star reviews crying that Taleb would freely shit on journalists and psychologists.

>7 is average
>1-5 is varying levels of shit

That was a good thread

Not to be like, sexist or anything but of course she can’t appreciate higher level abstract thinking about literary irony. She’s a woman.

>adam copping a feel

Why can't anybody build a site like this that looks better and has more features? Letterboxd is the equivalent for movies and works so much better, Goodreads is an absolute clusterfuck

There are those who believe in Christ and will have everlasting life (heaven) and those who do not and while perish (hell).

Attached: IMG_20190307_064436.jpg (974x429, 107K)

elaborate

why didn't she use weeny instead of tiny to rhyme and be a bit more aesthetic? I hate this review. Little discernible talent in being retarded.

LibraryThing already exists

Books are the most accessible medium of quality here. Games are expensive and TV in our cunts is shit tier even in the bollywood of MENA that is Egypt. Why they gravitate to goodreads in particular though I'm not sure.

Is good reads a good place to meet qt Arab girls? Maybe they want a green card?

This "person" should be chained to a pick up and dragged around town till he's nothing but a smear.

I don't think so. But then again I don't use the site that much so I don't know how easy it is to get to know people via groups and such.

Nah fuck you every chat box is a dating app if you are Chad enough.

I use it so I can boost my narcissism. It’s nice seeing all those books you’ve read stack up.

someone forgot to tell the catholic church for a few thousand years

Sharing a review of yours, butterfly?

She's right and none of you woman haters can explain why she's wrong.

she's wrong and none of you white knighting incels can explain why she's right.

what is that point, user?

Eliot's manifesto

Yes, 4 channels' Yea Forumserary citizens use Goodreads with no hint ; irony. How is that idea outlandish to you.

What the fuck does this guy want Melville to have referenced? Stuff from the future?

Seething collectivists will never not be funny even when they send me to gulag

>The degradation of its resolution could only add to its quality.

The biggest redpill

I got your back pham. I look at her with contempt for both of us.

my diary desu

It's not hard to read but it's badly written nonetheless.

I avoid these things like the plague. I get so fucking triggered.

This is from Ernst Junger's diary in paris book that was just released.

I can't even imagine how miserable your life must be.

He made it sound too exciting.

100% true

That's an interesting thought. Is that Catholic doctrine, or the papists believe it's a real place?

>7

wtf

This review was as long as the book and twice as hard to read.

That's amazing, especially since I'm reading it now and really enjoy it for all of the reasons he dropped it.

Tits or GTFO. You know the rules.

Do it, it's good.

cute joke, son. : )
