Fuck postmodernism
Fuck postmodernism
What Postmodernist books/authors have you read?
ditto
Jordan Peterson
Obscure jargon reporting in
Foucault
>Foucault
>postmodernist
Based
The irrelevant metaphors thing is simply wrong. Deleuze, Foucault, Lyotard etc regularly refer to Christianity, modernity, Marx, and other major historical touch-points to make their various arguments, which commonly have to do with understanding the world today, in some political/philosophical sense. I can see how they might seem irrelevant to some dim bulb, though.
Big fancy words like "homologous" and "deterritorialization" are clearly not undefined. Rather, they are coined/employed by their authors and translators in order to suggest various themes.
Authors associated with the label "postmodernism" have written several short works (pick up any Foucault book, anything French out of the Semiotext(e) intervention series, or for that matter the seminal Postmodern Condition of Lyotard), in addition to the obvious big stuff (D&G's Capitalism and Schizophrenia). So "postmodernism" does not necessitate huge books. Rather, the vocabulary is so taxing (the fair point) that the images' creator confuses it for long books.
Which brings us to the obscure vocab. This is the most fair point, and I concede it. For the last, "proofs" must be defined. It's true that the Frenchies love to blithely write "has shown, has demonstrated" while citing their source, but something something I'm exhausted and going to bed now.
Post-modernists create a world of their own out of vanity, it's intriguing, it invites the reader into thinking they must know what they are talking about, but it's a mystery box with nothing more than mystery boxes inside. They don't have answers to anything they just want a cult following because being a normal academic is extremely boring, you gotta make shit up, become famous and sell snake oil.
So whats coming after postmodernism?
Postmodernism After Story
metamodernism
Postmodernism 2
decentralized post-academia
>Postmodernism 2: Qualify This!
trumpism
reactionary beliefs
i don't give a flying fuck to postmodern philosophy but postmodern literature is fun as fuck
How dare you taint the Captain Planet template with an allegory to postmodernism.
>
>Which brings us to the obscure vocab
How is that fair? Fiction would be in a said state if it was limited to common language, it would be genre fiction and dated by its language.
I suspect it will be a return to realism with qualities of postmodernism.
pretty sure OP is referring to philosophical postmodernism, not artistic.
Something like neo-renaissance?
mark my words lads, we're nearing the second renaissance in the western world. It'll be a paradigm shift in which the degeneracy of the modern world is philosophically and artistically eviscerated, and will be much more focused on idealism and beauty
Intersectionality
J.K. Rowling
This desu
We must be approaching the end of post-postmodernism by now, so what comes next? What will Post-post-postmodernism entail?
the west will soon fall my nigerian, we will all worship our rightful chinese overlords thereafter :^)
i don't see anything like "the west" renaissance-ing, maybe some "separatist" groups from the west, if separatism is even allowed at this point
dark ages but with more dildos
whatever we're convinced is trendy
>it's not that simple;
accelerationism.
>Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools
Nu metal 2.0
DFW and hated that pretentious faggot. Infinite Jest is probably the worst thing I ever read
>Postmodernism 2: Back in Vietnam
Yes, fuck up Foucault some more. Mmm gimme some more of that bourgie cummies.
Neo-Kantianism
collapse of all philosophical bullshit.
Mark Leyner
>nearing the second renaissance in the western world.
we still have a way to go. there is a lot of wreckage to clear out, and a lot of sacred cows to be butchered and shibboleth's to abandon. get some popcorn, and watch the butthurt unfold.
actually, the sand at the bottom of hell is molten sand, turned to glass.
Could replace postmodernism with continental philosophy and it would be just as true.
Afrofuturism and queer liberation.
so gender accelerationism? and black accelerationism?
underrated
what's comes after post-Petersonianism?
Implying postmodernism isn't a Gundam made up of:
>Jewish-American capitalist imperialism
>European Continental philosophy
>Japanese artistry
>Chinese labor force
>Russian hooliganism
always count on Dawkins to represent the ignorant anglo
>renaissance
>end of """""degeneracy""""
oh shit lmao hahahahahaha do you know anything about the renaissance you fucking retard hahahahahahaha

>Big fancy words like "homologous" and "deterritorialization" are clearly not undefined
Two cycles are homologous if their difference is a boundary, dumbass. Haven't you studied algebraic topology?
He doesn't look very happy.
nobody said progress would be fun
New Petersincerity. This is the condition of searching for meaning and relationships in ordinary bedroom objects, while ironically not cleaning anything
how do you reconciliate this with meta-Kondoism insights?
Cave paintings
If we're lucky, Platonic Pantheism.
as twitter user @gritcult called it: "meta-modernism"
Postmodernism is gay and anglo, so if you seek to be smart you should definitely avoid it.
>so many answers dude, lmao!
Pretty pathetic desu.
Don't include me in the screenshot.
How postmodern of you
If you seek to be smart you should avoid polshit
Someone will invent language by practicing speech once more.
Lying is not speech, it does not transmit knowledge and phenomena; it instead is an empty signal having an effect.
i am a believer, brother! i think the movement needs a name, the rest will fall into place
Postmodernism never happened, it was a misdiagnosis.
Gaddis and pynchon are my favorite authors
If you think DFW is postmodernist you're actually retarded. He literally hated postmodernism.
He killed himself because he couldn't escape it. Are you going to tell me that putting the authors forward 70 pages into the pale king claiming the only fiction is the legal disclaimer that everything is fiction complete with DFWs trademark footnotes is postmodernism? The anecdotes and the barely sketching out what actually happens and the meta fiction and end notes in infinite jest aren't postmodernism? He couldn't escape it, and he realized that the cow eyed retards he described in his This Is Water speech were actually just cow eyed retards and he was a sham. He should have just written and lived in obscurity and not taken SSRIs. I guess at least he didn't go bonkers and shoot up like Wimbledon or a Boston halfway house but if he had it would have been epic bantz far surpassing Burroughs. What a pussy.
Can anyone make any sense of why I really enjoy postmodern artforms(movies/books/music) but despise the philosophy?
low iq first year university post
if /pol/ is so bad why are all the latest Zizek articles just basic /pol/ talking points rehashed with a leftist bent?
because it feels good to destroy things but it feels bad to be aware of what you are destroying and where it leads
something along the lines of
>everything is subjective, therefore my subjective will is the only objective thing in existence
Expect authoritarian state sanctioned morality being objective on the basis society as a whole subjectively deems it as such.
>it wasn't real postmodernism
>it wasn't real communism
this
Because leftists (not Zizek) can be fascistic too.
He's calling them on their bullshit.
how is agreeing on all their basic points calling them out on their bullshit?
Probably because zizek is a pseud
>idealism and beauty
more like nature and true self
“Postmodernism” has no meaning. It loosely describes books that lack a traditional novel structure
zizek is an unironical stalinist who pretends to be an ironic stalinist
Zizek is critical of idpol leftists and infantilizing politics while being a brand of leftist himself.
/pol/tards are critical of Idpol and leftist encroachment on personal freedom as well.
Thats just one point of intersection, I guess.
I'd encourage you to check out Adults for Adults.
They are academics and are more articulate than I am on the topic.
adultsforadults.org
How postmodern of him
If anything it was the modernists that eschewed traditional structure
sounds good, i'll check it, sounds better than current leftism, but it kind of sounds like liberalism last stand, not sure if it will go anywhere without a serious attempt at community building which i doubt it's there
>I'm all like about deconstructing the narratives and presumptions we've built our society and culture on, and like, objectively weighing them with all their historical, economical, cultural, geographical context and stuff
>Turns out that I have been right about absolutely everything all along and the people I hate have been wrong about everything
I think everyone except the worst apologists for intellectuals will admit that their writing was obnoxious and unnecessary, but that doesn’t change the fact that they could be very insightful.
Nietzsche
>We must be approaching the end of post-postmodernism by now
Not really
