>Bless SWIFT

Always felt a bit of an affection for Lewis’s writing, but also know I’d probably despise him if he was a contemporary. The blessing of Swift makes quite a bit of sense now I think of the Blast Manifesto alongside something like Tale of the Tub.

Also some good choices in this thread.

Wyndham Lewis, Manifesto from the first volume of his mag Blast

The sex scene from Calvinos The Nonexistent Knight

The Adventures of the Good Soldier Svejk

The first couple volumes of Spike Milligans war memoirs are very funny. Also the books by John Swartzwelder are good as well.

I know. Its heartbreaking. That's why I only recommend the first couple volumes to people.

The sot weed factor

which one?

Hank the cowdog, the one where the monkey grabs the shitheads tongue.

Any Woodhouse novel, especially the Jeeves ones.

Catch 22

Tom Sharpe: always good for a laugh.

Barth’s

Confederacy of Dunces, and that's final.

Tristram Shandy

The murder scene in Lolita.
