This is the worst book I have ever read

Certainly not the worst I've read, but definitely overrated. Though I don't know what books you've read so I can't say for you.

are you kidding me like are you being ironic right now

Yes. It's an easy 7/10. The prose is obviously great, but the content itself isn't anything trascendental.

Because you haven't read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.

I don't know what other books you have or have not read so proving you wrong is impossible.

That sums up all of Joyce’s work

Joyce is amazing at least through Ulysses. Not even posturing, if you read him and understand him he’s great. If you didn’t like Portrait I have bad news for you.

You probably haven’t read many books so you might be right

We can't prove you wrong without knowing what other books you've read.

He can write a sentence so incredibly well, displaying such an ease of vocabulary, word placement, rhythm and all the other aspects that make great writing. But he doesn't show much grasp for actual content at all, and his place among the greats is only for the former aspects. He cannot compete with any other writer on matters of content.
