A book about escaping the big city and wageslave life and living on a farm...

A book about escaping the big city and wageslave life and living on a farm, sustaining yourself with you own physical effort and plantations and land?

I wonder if there's a book similar in tone to Norwegian Wood by Lars Mytting to help me dream a little.

OP here. To add to that, I'm also interested in any actual guidebooks on planting vegetables and fruit, etc.

Anna Karenina, unironically (but I always wonder how a book that's not a guidebook can satisfy that kind of request - a "book about" sth won't make said thing easier to achieve)

How old are you OP?

29, why?

The Growth of the Soil

OP here, 26.

WW2 era refugee family and friends of Stefen Zweig move to vermont and learn about poultry subsistence farming 9/10 on the comfy scale

Don't know what's the deal with the impersonators. I'm 30.

Thanks, this book looks great.

desu it really projected the rural new england feel that only exists this smaller and smaller curve through central vt, nh, and western maine, and what they did seems to be totally doable even now, since they basically just moved to a shitty farmhouse in the woods and did their own reno. the money required for such a house and property nowadays is tiny, you can find a million on zillow

Yeah I need to do this but in my own country. I'm not from the US.

Fucking 9-5 job is killing me. It's like living in a traffic jam - you hardly have time to rest your brain and you have to get up and travel to work and on and on and on.

move to canada

Canada is just as bad as America

Quite literally my diary desu.
I own a farm, 7th season this year.

It's called filing for disability and moving somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Are you from Quebec?

Jesus christ mate add some compost to your soil, it looks like shit. Do you rototill or something?

This was a comfy read
And when you’ve had enough of goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and rats, she takes a trip to Dartmouth College’s library to sperg out over their medieval book collection.

tabarnak, etc...

My soil is the heaviest shit possible, barley a notch below pure clay. You should have seen it before years of compost and green manure.

Please ignore those faggots copying me, I'm 37.

the virgin soyl

isn't Quebec soil very rich in clay?

You have no chance of competing with agribusiness. It’s worse than competing with Mexican day laborers. They will always underbid you.
Learn to weld. Make stacks.

Ewww, looks like GMO

Can also tell it is from america, somehow the soil look full of pesticides or some other poison

if you live near a douchey professional yuppy town selling farm fresh to restaurants keeps lots of people in my town employed

Meaning north america. European soil and plants look much healthier greener also stronger, healthier plants here the north american soil is good for farming corn and making some gmo corn syrup

I would move to the country so fucking hard if I could be surrounded by fun educated young people.
There's a lot of trad millennials out there, so many of us desperately want to marry and have kids and live a peaceful life. Is there any more reasonable reaction to the modern world? Just back off the whole 21st century thing and grow some veggies, throw the ball in the back yard, barbecue with the neighbors, beers on the porch, kiss the wife, walk the dog, work hard, read a book, all of that.
I'm not some cosmopolitan liberal, I'm conservative. I like when the government lets things stay stable, that's sort of the foundation of old school conservativism. Not so much the new stuff. The issue is, at least in the USA, if you go to a small town you find the most insecure people in your age group. Rarely college educated let alone grad school, it's not like I hate them I just don't have fun with them. If you talk to them they take offense to everything about you, the whole "you think you're better than me" meme is super true about rural republicans I've encountered. Everybody else is gonna die in the next decade, the only people left in these towns are people too old to move and people who were rejected by mainstream society. T
so, it would be super tight to find some town where there's a majority of layed back trad young people with a decent level of education, normal socialization, some decent amenities like a good library, maybe a community college or small university, couple nice bars, cheap land, decent public schools, some sort of community. It's bullshit that it doesn't exist.

fuck off, you wouldn't last a week out of Starbucks range
keep dreaming your gay little dreams, faggot!

you honestly just managed to come off as insufferable and really gay, i am disappointed that you elected to pollute this thread

I remember an Italian user here who had an almond farm or something and was really struggling with it, maybe he will show up in this thread.

nice reddit spacing, you must be triggered by something I said. Probably one of the lifemogged rural retards surrounded by elderly folks.

>you honestly just managed to come off as insufferable and really gay
true, i literally can smell the smegma off his post

Probably forgot to activate them

samefagging teen
bro you need to relax lmao

no, but i would much rather be around some drooling country retard or dying person than your kind
if it helps to cope with the fact that you have an insufferable personality you can keep telling yourself that you somehow personally insulted me, but sadly that's not the case here!

lmao, just breathe and let it go cletus

Attached: Composure.jpg (512x384, 31K)

it's nice to see you went with the coping strategy i suggested

hahahahaha
nice quads. you're so mad, why do you keep replying? Just close the tab, take a walk.

Stop it fags. OP Herr and i'm actually 63

saying "why do you keep replying" in a reply seems sort of silly don't you think?
have you been called insufferable before? i imagine so, i suggest you reflect what kind of person you are so you can better yourself
i will go read now, feel free to keep typing "lol haha" etc and hit reply

*insuffeable and gay

There are no fun people irl stop dreaming

good boy. Scurry along now.

Move to Haida Gwaii, I plan to do the same in a couple years.. it’s alredy an inhospitable hotspot of artists and academics, the land is very cheap, and the total lack of economic opportunities keeps all the millennial strivers away. We can start a little community in some isolated corner of the island and LARP as peasant traditionalists and Brahmin z

I'm down, but tell me what you think about Friday Harbor or Sedro Woolley. Some alternatives I've been considering with some existing infrastructure and potentially less hippies.

I luv minecraft 2!

>building a house out of wool

Why do people think this is okay?

Are you layering it on top or tilling it under? Works much better if you spread compost over the surface, or slice off green manures/winter kill them. Look up charles dowding if you want to read about it.

That's the sex number!

If it didn’t work for Wittgenstein in Norway, it definitely won’t work for you now

Underrated

It's pretty easy if you wagecuck for few years before committing to this lifestyle. You also need to live in a state without property taxes.

Land tax in the UK is over a grand a year per acre I think

You only need about 50 grand in stocks then.

Hey Buddy you should read It Cannot Be Stormed by Ernst Von Soloman. He was a German Conservative in the inter-war period and wrote about the nature/politics of the country side. First 55 pages are available on google books but then if you like it you will have to buy it because i haven't been able to find it digitally anywhere.. It's a good book to be inspired and then cry silently inside about as you trudge to your urban wage slave job.
Also check out Wandervogel on instagram. They're kind of inspiring for someone who yearns to break out of the grinding system we support for the sake of masochism. I get the feeling like a lot of the social media "trad" folks are just turds trying to sell a life style but as long as you don't actually buy anything from them they can be a good source of inspiration.
