Ask your own government that presents you that "world" stage.

most stuff coming out of there nowadays is either literal shit tier comedies or artsy slow paced depressing shit, which doesn't appeal to modern audiences

USSR movies are much better than current shit. Bring me back

Patrician taste would be defying the kind of movie qhich gives a watcher kind of headache but the curiosity overwhelms it and despite orgasmic nausea you still watch it like fuckin pavlov ape

all the smart people died and oligarchs took over

Switching from an oppressive regime to a "democratic" ruined their movies
Literally the oppoaite happened to Germany, Weimar was very Kino

>Why doesn't (((((Hollywood)))) let foreign nations be relevant
Guess

Guys. My dick...it’s... it’s fucking huge. HUGE is the right way to put it actually. Jesus Christ lads you don’t even understand do you? I mean it’s fucking enormous. Guys please dm me for details

The USSR had regulatory bodies whose primary function was indeed censorship, but also secondarily, quality control.
Modern Russia, not so much. The US is much the same case but we still get good films outside of the big blockbuster trash, because the industry is just big enough to support niche releases.
