they made a Cthulhu movie
and I think a shadow over innsmouth was made

the movie about his car is pretty kino

Nic Cage is starring in a colour of of space film

Lovecraft is too racist for today.

t. nigger who worships a sea monster

slow burn bone chilling

DUDE COSMIC HORRORS SO SCARY LIKE YOU CANT EVEN IMAGINE DUDE

I said he was too racist for today. As in todays siciety would bitch and whine about it. I don't give a shit if they make lovecraft films or not. Now fuck off.

I watched the Cthulhu movie from from 2007. Despite the name it's a pretty boring Shadow over Insmouth film. There's a decent scene taking place under the town that feels true to the spirit of the source material but aside from that it's not worth watching. The Call of Cthulu would be difficult to film faithfully because so much of the story is epistolory or told in flashbacks. I think it could work in a noir detective fashion though.

There's also a German independent film of The Colour out of Space. It's low budget and has some pretty terrible acting but is worth a watch. The scenes of the neighbour exploring the house when the family are pretty much done for are great.

Del Toro's Mountains of Madness was cancelled because it would have been identical to Prometheus.
>Band of adventurers explore ancient alien ruins and discover that the ancient civilisation isn't as dead as they thought.
It's a shame because it is one of Lovecrafts most filmable works.

once I read At the Mountains of Madness, I realized that Alien and The Thing were just condensations of that story
also, I recommend Banshee Chapter, if you want some Lovecraftian horror involving drugs

FUCK, i just want me goddamn "The Dunwich Horror" movie, bros.

2001 is the best cosmic horror film.

Maybe, but it's optimistic humanism is a sharp departure from the genre.

I found this one pretty entertaining, but don't expect too much.
There's also "Die Farbe" mentioned. Having the whole movie be black and white and only using color for the meteorite corruption was a great idea, but I wish they didn't use some sick purple tint just so you see it's bad.
You also have "Dagon", which is mostly Shadows over Innsmouth in a small Spanish fishing village.

COLOR OUT OF SPACE KINO OUT IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS

Attached: coloroutofspace1.png (599x315, 271K)

Its is possible but hard
Im not sure that there is some1 who can film it
Most people making movies are focused on retarded fast paced movies

>Del Toro's Mountains of Madness was cancelled because it would have been identical to Prometheus.
Be very glad that it was cancelled. The script is so fucking bad, it's not Lovercraft is just some monster action film. Terrible, terrible script.

I actually read through the first act, and I agree completely.
but it would have been visually stunning, let's be honest. I would have loved to see his take on the ancient race, and even more the horrifying shoggoths
I might actually go to the theatre to see that

I actually can't imagine a film being as horrifying as the descriptions contained in the story.

This was so dumb, but i liked it.

Because they just pretend to like his works and do not understand what makes them good.

There is already movie about Dagon and I think it was pretty good.

Anyone see the Void? I liked it. Apparently it was overhyped but I had never heard of it before I watched it.

yeah i liked it
it was kinda hailed as the second coming here a bit which detracted from my enjoyment

>Wanting more reddit dogshit films
Lovecraft is a fucking meme.

lovecraftian*

Not unfilmable, but a truly faithful adaptation would turn off normies. Lots of internal monologue and carefully avoiding showing the creatures, leaving just enough to the audience imagination. No distributor would sign off on a film guaranteed to not make money.

After I watched it I looked up the reviews and saw that there was a lot of that and a lot of backlash saying it wasn't that great. Reading about it before I watched it would have definitely made it harder to enjoy.

Rats in the Wall movie when

In the Mouth of Madness was pure art

Having read Del Toro's Mountains script, it's good Hollywood doesn't attempt to adapt HPL. Suits (even Taco himself) don't get it and they never will.

>It's a shame because it is one of Lovecrafts most filmable works.
The script was complete shit tho

Give me a quick rundown on the Del Taco script

Lovecraft was ludicrously racist even for his era.

Come to think of it, existential horror very rarely translates well to the film medium.

They should make a movie about his cat commiting crimes

Gore, time travel, Nyarlathotep

That faggot beaner would absolutely ruin ANY HPL adaption. He's gone full woke SJW retard and he would shit all over HPL's legacy.

lovecraftzine.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/at-the-mountain-of-madness.pdf

that's because it's fucking retarded

Fear of death is retarded?

I greatly enjoyed it, but the "creatures" are what pushes it to another level, the practical effects are on par with Rob Bottins' best work and truly disturbed me and made my mind reel at the hypothetical idea of them being real.

What makes a good Lovecraftian story? Degradation of society? The insignificance of humanity? Mind breaking monstrosities?

Existential horror isn't the fear of death but, yeah, fear of death is retarded.

Onee-sans

So far, Ane Naru Mono is pretty much the opposite of a typical Cosmic Horror story (granted, it is a slice of life). Even though there is a heavy emphasis on how Chiyo is so far beyond humans that she can't even tell humans and lesser gods apart, most of the story is about her longing for more human things, such as hearing Yuu-kun say that he likes her or feeling his warmth when they hug each other. Much of the more heartwarming moments revolves around how despite their differences, they are content with just being with each other.

Garbage

There's a difference between acknowledging the fact that race exists and thinking your race is superior. I mean even if the man hated niggers and jews it doesn't mean he thought he was better than them. Not a racist.

What story would be the easiest to turn into a film?

I don't think you've ever read the "On the creation of niggers" poem. He calls them animals and beasts.

Based.

>Lovecraft described Jackson's stories as "trivial, effeminate, and, in places, coarse." Continuing, Lovecraft said that Jackson's characters exhibit the "delicate passions and emotions proper to negroes and anthropoid apes.

> I, on the other hand, don't give a hang about the masses except so far as I think deliberate cruelty is coarse and unaesthetic—be it towards horses, oxen, undeveloped men, dogs, negroes, or poultry.

It was a lynchpin of his worldview. Pretty much anyone outside the new england stock of his peers he considered deficient to some degree.

You know damn well why nobody makes adaptions anymore

Going to TIFF to see it. Will report back

>anyone outside the new england stock of his peers he considered deficient to some degree.
Yeah, that's about right.

>In another letter concerning the events of 1908 he notes, "I was and am prey to intense headaches, insomnia, and general nervous weakness which prevents my continuous application to any thing."

> An account from a high school classmate described Lovecraft as exhibiting "terrible tics" and that at times "he'd be sitting in his seat and he'd suddenly up and jump."

>In another letter concerning the events of 1908, Lovecraft stated that he "could hardly bear to see or speak to anyone, & liked to shut out the world by pulling down dark shades & using artificial light."

Truly the masterace.

Hey man, even Ubermensch Chads such as he get sick from time to time, no need to seethe about it.

True lovecraftian horror lacks human sentimentality which normal audiences don't want to face. The entire draw of his work is how insignificant and ignorant we are of the greater perils/atmosphere of the universe. If you think that's gonna fly with hollywood or even indie asshats who want to encapsulate 'muh human condition' think again.
