Why hasn't Pynchon had any of his books adapted into movies? They would be amazing.

What's that?
Get back to work Thomas
How did people get a new photo of him? I thought Pynchon was incredibly against being photographed.
Old man filter on his 1 old navy photo.
Some magazine commissioned an artist to take a pic of a model who they think might look like Pynchon now based on his navy photograph and shoop the pic further to make it look like the imagined current year Pynchon.
There is no confirmed photograph of Pynchon outside the school and navy photographs.
It's just that famous old photo of him aged up. When you see those buck teeth it's kind of obvious why he is camera shy. You know what's weirder though is that despite this he was willing to do voice work for The Simpsons. So people have seen him and somehow no pictures of him have leaked out. I dunno how he pulls it off.

Side note, why on earth did The Simpsons do a Pynchon joke. Do they really expect their average viewer to know who he is?
Pynchon wanted to be on the show
The Simpsons were doing an episode about writing a book or Homer becomes an author or something. This was peak celebrity cameo Simpsons, when The Simpsons were all about what celebrities they would have next. And for this episode they got tons of famous writers to cameo. Pynchon fucking loves pop culture which lends to him of course being a huge fan of the show wanted to be on. The Simpsons really couldn't pass up such a big opportunity.
Pynchon doesn't exist, a bunch of authors and publishing studios conspired to fabricate him. That voice actor could've been anyone.
>You're RE-reading Gravity's Rainbow?
He's not exactly an obscure author or anything.
virgin chin
>aging up a photo of someone who casually manages not to have any photos exist of him
I mean i dont know how hard Pynchon works on that, but I assume it's not a big deal and he just hides in plain sight, and he seems more like some guy who simply isn't a fag about authorship, rather than a recluse.
PYNCHED
Pynchon and Lynchon would be a good combo.
Heh, nothin personal
How do people know that's not some random old guy. Literally just looks like John Bolton.
There are photos of him when he was younger and people compare them
There's a more recent photo of him from some rag a pap photographer took on voting day. Hasn't been verified it's Pynchon but in all likelihood it is. The pic is of him and his grandson. I'll post it here but fuck it. Just google it.
I can't find it.
jeez, man, it's literally the first fucking pic under typing thomas pynchon voting.
He turned into a wizard

Pinecone is one of the best authors of the millenia
Yeah, he's one of the greats. Only readers have to have an attention span longer than your average Yea Forums binger is blessed with. Against the Day was his last great work, though. Both Inherent Vice and Bleeding Edge are entertaining and fucking hilarious at times but don't compare to his previous work.
Fuck I hate tabloids.
bumping with some McClintic Sphere, the most talented musician of the previous century.
that article is fucking sickening.
One of his books retard. And a terrible adaptation.
tabloids are the lowest of the low. well, not counting Yea Forums and /pol/.
How so?
I think he's real, just a bit eccentric.
There are at least two old archived threads on Yea Forums (I think from 2011 or so?) where a guy who insisted he wasn't Ruggles made a lot of very insightful posts about Lot 49. He said he knew him personally and most of the board seems to agree he realistically would only be that informed if he was telling the truth. Someone suggested it could be a grad student that Tommy took on to do research for him when he writes, and I believe that. Somebody who writes the way he does would definitely be going through enough reference material to merit that kind of help. It's probably the same guy who convinced him to bring up Yea Forums in one of his last books, and Pynch himself didn't know what it was so it seems like an awkward reference.
What's the best book of his to start with? I know that one image says V. and Crying of Lot 49 but are those really the best ones?
V. is the first one so you should start with it because it's the first.
Never read his stuff, is he a meme author?
Yeah but Crying of Lot 49 is way shorter, so I could decide wheether it's my thing or not way quicker if I were to read that
I will post a sample of text from his novel and that will answer your question.
Mason & Dixon filmed with real actors spliced with animated sequences would be incredible.
Lot 49 is excellent and I haven't read any of his other books yet. It's both well-written and just fun to read, and you can get through the whole thing in an afternoon. V. is probably a fine choice too from what I've heard, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
A lot of critics and fans say TCoL49 is intentionally open-ended, and in some sense it is, but the puzzle does have a solution. Read it, think about it, and then make a thread on Yea Forums and someone will link you to the threads where his "associate" hints at the "answer."
The fun thing about Pynchon is all his book titles are references to the vagina.
I haven't read the book, so I'm not sure how good of an adaptation it is, but the movie was good.
Of course it was. PTA has never made a bad film.
While I think it's deeply unethical of that paper to take and publish his picture without his consent I gotta say: He's got great hair for his age.
>Magnolia
Kinda, but in a good way.
Steel Magnolias was a fine movie.
Mason and Dixon would be pure kino
