I don't understand why this movie is so highly rated. Basic plot, flat characters, harrison ford's shitty acting, unrealistic behavior, half of the scenes take place in darkness The futuristic setting isn't explored very much The philosophical questions are very predictable
I wanted to like this movie but there's nothing special, so why do people talk about it?
>I wanted to like this movie Why, did you owe this movie something?
Parker Morgan
i thought harrison ford was great
Connor Rodriguez
It seemed promising at first and I thought there'd be more to it so I had my hopes at
Ryan Young
The 80's standard futuristic cyberpunk atmosphere was what stood out at the time. However, I can see why people dislike it. It hasn't aged well, and it's actually quite funny when you're supposed to be convinced this movie takes place what is actually the current year in 2019.
Ryder Bell
Beautiful visuals and and even better music. The cyberpunk setting wasn’t done to death back then and the philosophical questions still haven’t been answered. Also BR2049 is superior as a movie
Hudson Allen
Comparing BR to BR2049 is like comparing 2001 to 2010
Brayden Powell
what do you mean? those few city shots?
Michael Scott
>and the philosophical questions still haven’t been answered have you read any science fiction book from the 60s?
Nolan Lewis
>cyberpunk it's not
Cameron Turner
>and it's actually quite funny when you're supposed to be convinced this movie takes place what is actually the current year in 2019 Well I don't expect it to be accurate but I can't even make the judgement because the movie barely shows the world
Daniel Bennett
It's the foundation of the cyberpunk aesthetic Next you'll be telling me RoboCop isn't cyberpunk
Jace Cox
>harrison ford's shitty acting he's fantastic, did you watch the version with narration or something?
I watched both he's a non-actor in almost every movie of his, in this one especially
Kayden Morales
>Robocop isn't cyberpunk It's not
Dominic Young
>Basic plot stopped reading here
Kevin Hernandez
but it is
Levi Martin
He's a charisma beacon in the Indy and Star Wars films, there's a reason every child of the 80's loved him. He emotes a lot less in Blade Runner, but that's because it's a completely different character. If you don't like Harrison Ford I have no choice but to believe you're a massive faggot.
Liam Wilson
I think you made a similar thread once, and it looks like you still don't get it. You talk in big words like 'flat characters', 'unrealistic behaviour' and 'philosophical questions' but you do nothing more than scratching on the surface. You didn't think any further than what the movie made obvious. If this thread is genuine and not some shitty bait you should watch it again, even though you should have understood it the first time
then explain what is beyond the surface that makes this movie so special instead of doin whatever you're doign here
Ayden Gutierrez
Because "nerd culture" came to dominate cinema criticism following the death of intellectualism in the 1970s, hence "nerd classics" such as this film, "Alien", "The Thing" etc. became memes.
Colton Garcia
why would I explain it? You have to find out yourself, anything else is pointless
Grayson Young
what's 2010
Isaac Clark
>your opinion is bad and you should feel bad >but I won't explain how or why that's the case :^) you're the worst kind of poster why should I take your opinion seriously into consideration if you're acting like this?
Owen Price
>It hasn't aged well, and it's actually quite funny when you're supposed to be convinced this movie takes place what is actually the current year in 2019. it honestly doesn't feel that far off, a lot of countries feel like dark dystopian hellholes
Aaron Miller
Don't bother, OP. It's impossible to criticize this movie because it's fans are so defensive and butthurt when you point out flaws and have dozens of rationalizations for all of them. You're better off not getting involved.
Camden White
>so why do people talk about it? some people just have bad taste...
>better music This was the biggest disappointment for me. This movie barely even has a soundtrack you fucking idiot. Point one track I'm supposed to listen to and be impressed by.
Owen King
The "standard" atmosphere you're talking about was basically invented by Blade Runner; it was the very first cyberpunk film. As for it being "dated," I disagree. The special effects and sets still look excellent. Yes, it doesn't look like the current year, but EVERY sci-fi film about the future gets tons of stuff wrong. For instance, 2001: A Space Odyssey was totally wrong about 2001, but I never see anyone hold that against the film.
Jaxson Lopez
Fine, then can you give me an example? If you say Johnny Mnemonic isn't cyberpunk I'm going to have to disregard you as a retard
Elijah Hill
sequel to 2009
Jason Butler
This, aged like milk. Even the main plot is generic.
Mason Young
2001 a space odyssey has a sequel called 2010 the year of contact or something
Easton Watson
LOOK AT IT
JESUS CHRIST EVEN IF EVERYTHING YOU SAID WAS TRUE THE VISUALS ALONE SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LIKE IT
Oliver Diaz
>underrated every teenage Yea Forumsedditor on this board jerks it off as the peak of cinema
Samuel Sullivan
This. The visuals were 10/10 in 1982 and are 10/10 to this day.
At least I can completely disregard you now that you've confirmed yourself retarded, thanks
Dominic Ortiz
It’s highly rated because people find the idea of genetically engineered sex slaves to be subconsciously appealing
Jeremiah Walker
>subconsciously
Julian Murphy
It is absolutely stunning and still is one of the best looking sci fi films. The story is simple and perfectly told. >The futuristic setting isn't explored very much Which makes Roy's speech even more profound and sad. All that world and universe he saw, all those memories that Deckard (and the audience) could only dream of having, were designated unreal by the Blade Runner program because he wasn't human.
