Nothing is equal to LOTR though but I think Dune will be close.
/Dune/ general
What they don't understand is that those other IPs mentioned are high concept. That is, they're very easy to explain. Dune is tl;dr nonsense and it's not good.
But Lord of The Rings wasn't a diverse SJW fest and Nu-Wars flopped, unless they dare to say they are making sci-fi and/or fantasy back in form?
You can come with me bro
thanks il let you know when
Denis said he's keeping it VERY similar to the book.
>avatar
>high concept
lotr gets credit for being a reimagined christian allegory and starwars (at least the OT) gets some for putting the hero with a thousand faces archetypes to film
avatar is wasted potential at best and Saturday morning cartoon at worst
I don't think you understand what high concept means. It's not about quality, it's about how easy it is. Avatar is one of the easiest movies to explain as you only have to say Pocahontas or Ferngully or Dancing with Wolves in space.
So you might think Dune is "quality" but it's not high concept. And it's bad when it'll be shown Christmas season.
Dune is Lawrence of Arabia with Sandworms, human computers and other cool shit.
It won't do as badly as BR2049 because it's not a sequel. I don't think it'll be a huge success but I think it'll cross the double its budget threshold. It needs a really good trailer more than anything else
