Will it ever be topped?

How did they achieve such visceral visuals without exaggerated gore?
The very first kill is a simple hammer on the head out of nowhere and it looks brutal as fuck.

There's a focus on details that's absent in a lot of horror movies, and I don't mean in a technical aspect. The first kill is just a hit on the head but you see the body writhing and the feet kicking around because of the seizure it caused. The amateur feel of all the kills just makes it seem more realistic. There aren't ten minute shots of someone being dismembered, the kills are quick just like they would be in a real situation. Couple that with the home video look and the droning score and it's fucking brutal.

As a horror movie? It's bound to be topped. As a TCM movie? Never. No part comes close to the original. In fact, the sequels get worse and worse over time.

Exactly. I felt like I needed a shower after watching this movie. Unsettling in it's more realistic approach and grit, like a fever dream you're actively participating in.

the original resource it's not good

Top lel. The Nerd's review of the video game is closer to the original than the remake.
Also, the actor who portrayed Leather in the remake is a drunk piece of shit who made light of Gunnar Hansen's passing.

bump

>like a fever dream you're actively participating in

>ywn watch TCM the year it came out in some seedy 70s theatre
