OP got LYNCHED

le LYNCHED face

but Lost Highway is his worst

unlynched pleb:
*exists*

david lynch:
i'm about to lynch this mans entire career

Lost Highway is easily my top favourite of his. If you have any questions, I have some time and can help you appreciate this underrated master piece.

youtu.be/7rflLxBoTVw

Thread theme song. Lost Highway has one of the best soundtracks of all time. This song in particular is fucking amazing.

shut your dumbass up faggot, also lost highway is great

Lost highway is like the only time lynches bullshit split personality memory sloshed in symbolism garbage actually worked

>nonsensical user forgot to take his meds

Fine, justify shallow romantic subplot and long boring sex scenes.
The fact that it shows protagonists desire to live or something doesn't make it less tiresome.

It worked great in Mulholland Drive as well. It's referred to as "inner journey" rather than the way you put it. It was more obscure in MD because it was supposed to be a pilot.

>justify shallow romantic subplot
The main plot in the movie is about being cheated on, infidelity, betrayal, etc. Why do you think it's shallow and a subplot at all???

>long boring sex scenes
I remember one near the beginning, which shows Bill's wife isn't "in it" when they have sex, and another where he can't have her (which is the same thing really), and both are extremely relevant, because they both show how his dream woman is out of reach, even when he is literally inside her (and if you can't have her from the inside, you can never have her at all). If there are others, remind me.

>The fact that it shows protagonists desire to live or something doesn't make it less tiresome.
I have no clue what you're talking about here. Are you sure you're thinking of Lost Highway?

reminder that Scaruffi rates Mirror Man higher than Doc at the Radar Station. He has objectively bad taste.

>DUDE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE SO IT'S GOOD!

Attached: 1540485733923.jpg (399x400, 47K)

It makes sense though. I can explain anything in Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. Ask away.

>THE MADNESS OF REASON LMAO
fucking undergrads lap this shit up

why did he cast such an ugly person for the fugue portion of Lost Highway? It really makes the movie hard to watch.

Thought movie is about dying from cancer, but maybe i was deceived by someone else reddit opinion.
>Why do you think it's shallow
Bitch is boring. You don't even have any idea why protagonist likes her except the dick.
>where he can't have her
this one almost made me skip fast forward

Attached: 1496011299979.jpg (848x1151, 438K)

>why did he cast such an ugly person
???

He isn't ugly at all. He's a handsome young man. If you think he's so ugly that it made the movie hard to watch, you may have some visual issues.

Attached: 06.jpg (720x405, 20K)

this normalfag shit has never been good

>Thought movie is about dying from cancer,
I've never heard of that. You might be thinking of Annihilation.

>Bitch is boring. You don't even have any idea why protagonist likes her except the dick.
Nigga, if you have ever been in love, that's all you have to know. We see them at a stage in their lives where things are sputtering out. You don't have to be told why he loves her, just that he loves her. That makes it more personal as it gives you room to put your own ideas there, so that it sounds truer to you. That's the idea. Hemingway's Iceberg Theory works very well precisely because of this: you fill in what is missing with your own experience.

>this one almost made me skip fast forward
Why? That's one of the most important moments in the film.

he's an ugly hick. The romantic scenes were basically unwatchable. Like watching a Trailer Park Boys porn parody.

cringe and bluepilled but what can you expect from scaruffi

We've watched the films of generations
To David Lynch, none compares
We spread his art across the film buff nation
Besting everyone everywhere.

We're Lynch fans forever, Lynch fans together
We're family, but so much more
No matter what comes, we will face the weather
We're Lynch fans to the core

Eeyup.

There's no place that I'd rather be
Than watchin' Lynch with my family
Friends all around come to join and see
As we rewatch Eraserhead!

We're Lynch fans forever, Lynch fans together
We're family, but so much more
No matter what comes, we will face the weather
We're Lynch fans to the core

Surrealist plots, layers thick as thieves
Any cliché he discards with ease
He's here for the art of it, through thick and thin
You're always welcome with your Kino kin
Wheeeeee!

You're more fun than the films of Finch'
Or the coolest scenes of the best Kubrick
The love I feel here is swim, not sink
As we spread Lynch across this land

We're Lynch fans forever, Lynch fans together
We're family, but so much more
No matter what comes, we will face the weather
We're Lynch fans to the core

Imagine making multiple threads sperging out about something you dislike lmao, how pathetic. Unironically have sex user

I have never heard anyone have this opinion. Does Pete remind you of someone you hate in your own life?

I share that opinion. Just so you know.

Scaruffi is a hack

as far as i can tell, no. It is weird that nobody has ever agreed with me on this, because otherwise I really liked the film.

>That one guy that spams "Lost Highway is Lynch's greatest film" in every Lynch thread

I'll give you that I don't find him personally extremely handsome, but I would imagine he is generally regarded as handsome. I sure think Bill Pullman is a lot more handsome.

Stick to capeshit

This scene is one of the best. Lynch truly has at least 3 of the most memorable scenes in the 20th century.

You know what makes Lost Highway infinitely more terrifying?

The actor for this character ended up becoming a real life murderer.

lawandcrime.com/high-profile/im-half-dead-robert-blake-speaks-out-14-years-after-acquittal-for-wifes-murder/

Spoopy how Lynch is always connected to weird shit. See his fetish actor who died in odd circumstances and whose wife killed herself after a phone conversation cut short by a storm.

>lynched

And then found guilty in a civil suit. Only reason he got acquitted the first time is because celebs aren't allowed jail time unless they're in sports.

>Blake appealed the decision in the wrongful death case brought by Bakley’s children, and lost, with a judgment ordering him to pay millions. He eventually reached a settlement agreement.

>Blake now mostly stays out of the spotlight, having not worked as an actor in decades, his last role being before Bakley’s death in the 1997 film Lost Highway.

>The 85-year-old Blake told ABC News that he could go back to performing, as people still recognize him, but just doesn’t have it in him.

I also love LH but wft was Robert Blake's charater about and how/why was he in two places at once?

still innocent in my eyes

Wrongful death isn't the same as murder you retarded nigger.

Why is steve harvey always pinning black families against white families like racial warfare? Is he a commie instigator for the the forth reich?

>Blake claimed that he had returned to the restaurant to collect a gun which he had left there

Is this normal for Americans?

He's a Luciferian character, hence the supernatural stuff about him. Maybe he isn't in two places at once and Bill is just losing his mind. The idea is that Bill made a deal with the devil so to speak, and that deal was having another life, in which he does what he couldn't do in his real life. But as always, a deal with the devil fucks you in the ass eventually. Something like that. That character is mysterious and unclear on purpose, to be spoopy.

It works.

yes, especially in open carry states. Lots of people leave guns in their unlocked cars too

I am not suggesting he is guilty. I'm just amazed at this stuff. Maybe one of her 9 ex husbands wanted to kill her.

You're the r

You're the retarded nigger: why do you think this is what I assume??? I only quote to show. I don't have a hypothesis, you fucking autist.

>projecting in turbo mode

Shut the fuck up and realize you're wrong. Like legally you are fucking WRONG and accusing someone of MURDER when they've been LEGALLY FOUND NOT GUILTY is SLANDER and you WILL get sued if you keep it up. Fucking nigger read a book.

Maybe it was one of those restaurants where you have to put your gun somewhere before entering?

>NO U
Go back to grade school Tyrone and maybe learn a no insult you baboon. You know damn well what you were doing too don't play coy with me kid. Ain't in the mood redditspacer.

True enough, the scene where he's getting closer and closer with the camcorder gives me the willies errytime

>You're the r
Don't turn me into a meme. I got caught by surprise by the countdown.

U GONNA HAVE A TASTE OF MY FAT COCK
ASSHOLE

Could not find it, but i read some analysis that says the guy suffers symptoms of brain cancer, which is like execution that he don't know where to expect. and the rammstein scene is like God or life itself mocking him.
>That makes it more personal as it gives you room to put your own ideas there
Yeah, no. He just out of nowhere cock his boss, and then decided he could do anything for the whore, which could be part of interesting story, if was one. But since there too much surrealism going on, it feels like unbearable pointless waste of time, to watch those retards fuck and getting in trouble because of it, and fuck again.
>That's one of the most important moments in the film.
it is mostly just spectacle, that doesn't do it for me, because of reasons above.
have sex weeb

Very Lynchian post to bee honest

>Could not find it, but i read some analysis that says the guy suffers symptoms of brain cancer, which is like execution that he don't know where to expect. and the rammstein scene is like God or life itself mocking him.
Sounds retarded. Don't be fooled by brainlets who see what they want to see in anything without being able to back up any claim.

>argument from silence

>He just out of nowhere cock his boss,
You misunderstand. Pullman gets cheated on by his wife WITH the mafia boss dude and the other handsome man. That's why, in the fantasy, HE does it to him, in reverse. It's not out of nowhere.

You might be legitimately retarded.

This, actually. user, you have serious cognitive issues. I would recommend getting this checked out because you are so out there in your understanding that I legitimately think you have a condition like autism or something.

it is.

>I prefer to remember things my own way

That hair on point tho

The ending echoes death by the electric chair, which Bill gets for his crime, although I do think it was abolished by that time in California.

This is the worst movie of all time.

I stopped Lynch after MD. Did I do right?

This. I live in texas and most businesses have signs on the door asking you to not bring your guns inside.

You should never have started in the first place.

Yeah, was skeptical about it because it said Robert Blake symbolize the disease or something, which if differently not something Lynch would do.
Now you said second protagonist being fantasy make way more sense. Still, the relationship in that part feels too meaningless and boring and detached from reality.

And sex scenes is detached from emotions like the ones in Zack Snyder movies. How am i being autistic here?

*slowly blocks your path*

Attached: straight-story.jpg (798x1200, 151K)

Eraserhead - Lynch rationalizing his fears of becoming of father

Mulholland Dr - Lynch rationalizing his fears of becoming a Hollywood director

Lost Highway - Lynch rationalizing his fears of a midlife crisis

Twin Peaks - Lynch rationalizing his fears of wanting to rape his daughter

Twin Peaks 3 - Lynch rationalizing his fears of dementia

You need to forget the BS you read. Read this: from the moment he transforms, in prison, it's a "fugue", a dream, an "inner journey", but not reality. There's nothing about cancer or any of that.

>reality
Man gets betrayed by wife who fucks a mafia boss in a motel called Lost Highway; she also fucks the shady man you see at the beginning of the movie, when Bill plays the saxophone

>fantasy
This time, man is younger and HE cucks the mafia boss by fucking his wife; he also violently murders the porno handsome fella; in his mansion, he has the red vision, which is what he saw when he found his wife and mafia boss having sex in that motel room in the Lost Highway (you get the Rammstein song right there); the redness is suggestive of hell, as this vision is the worst thing possible for a man in love with a woman: seeing her getting fucked by someone else

I hope this helps.

This is the best movie of all time

elephant man is 10/10

>How am i being autistic here?
Partly. Bill's character is into it, but his wife is not, that's what you're supposed to get. It's quite terrifying. The reason why she isn't into him sexually anymore, and otherwise, is not known, but since she is having sex with other men, she doesn't need him intimately anymore. The distance in her eyes is meaningful. On his hand, Bill tries not to be too emotional precisely because he senses that he is the only one being vulnerable (because he loves and needs her, while she doesn't).

everything hes done is great

I laughed. I watched this in the theater when it came out, but I was very young. Unironically met my neighbour on the way back (I was 14 or so, she was an adult woman whose husband didn't give her the dick, so much so she locked him outside until he promised to fuck her).

I believe this could have led to quite something else, but I was too much of a sperg.

>Mulholland Dr - Lynch rationalizing his fears of becoming a Hollywood director
That makes no sense.

>Lost Highway - Lynch rationalizing his fears of a midlife crisis
Retarded as well. Had you said fear of being cheated on, maybe, but even then, that's reductive and meaningless. Stop sucking on cynicism's cock, it won't make you a smarter person.

Attached: D9rEURcXUAEkXwS.jpeg.jpg (1440x1080, 79K)

Ok i get that. I should get rewatching it just because of your enthusiasm here.
Fire Walk with me best lunch though.

Attached: when stranger eats your muffin.webm (1280x692, 465K)

No i didn't had problems with Bill's part at all.

You should. Lost Highway becomes more enjoyable as you know it. It's somehow always fresh.

I can never get over that car chase scene. It's even better when you know Lynch hired the actor because that man once raged like hell after being rejected at an audition for a previous film. He raged so hard that Lynch wrote this role for him.

youtu.be/S3XBb5ghzSw

Mulholland Drive is his only movie that isn’t complete shit.

Ah come on. You can't say that. Do you really think Elephant Man was complete shit?

Attached: 1553366514063.jpg (945x960, 82K)

absolute epitome of kino coming through
youtube.com/watch?v=w85NLPB2wjQ

Wild at Heart is objectively Lynch's best film (after Eraserhead of course)

>Laura Dern with a southern accent
>you now know that she was married to Ben Harper, yes, that Ben Harper
>from snake jackets to needless sacrifices in space

What a life.

I struggled to enjoy it when I saw it, probably because I didn't want all that comedy, but more distance should make me like it.

That Defoe scene traumatised me, though. To this day, I feel violated and cringe whenever Willem shows up on the screen.

Blue means transformation in Lynch's films. You get the same blue in Mulholland Drive. Not sure if there are other examples.

It reminds me of NIN's Downward Spiral lyrics:

>everything is blue in this world

Attached: lh058.jpg (1024x429, 200K)

Midlife crisis is being cheated on. And the main character literally becomes a younger version of himself.

Lynch isn't some enigmatic well like Kubrick. Lynch is very simple, he just takes whatever shortcuts he wants to get to his point, even if it breaks the rules of story or logic.

>I'm blue dabadee dabadai

Attached: Mulholland-Drive.png (740x400, 501K)

I doubt he even had a midlife crisis, considering the amount of women he got to fuck, and the fact that everything he done so far was met with praise, including his paintings and music.
Plus he still has a full head of beautiful hair, gets divorced every 5 years, doesn't really care about his children, and gets to smoke, drinks cola and fuck around in his own personal studio as much as he wants.
Truly the life worth living.

>Midlife crisis is being cheated on.
True, I forgot that at every other age, you're immune to it. Most people who get cheated on don't get cheated on during their midlife. People who stayed together this far usually go on together, so no, I reject that argument.

>And the main character literally becomes a younger version of himself.
That's more convincing but I would still say the point of being young in the fantasy is to stick it to the boss even deeper, since the normal character isn't especially old.

>even if it breaks the rules of story or logic.
I'm not even sure he does that.

Attached: lost-highway-1.jpg (1200x400, 23K)

>doesn't really care about his children
That's the only part where he is missing out (if true). Playing Lego with your kids is one of the best things in the universe.

>Fuck me, Billy.

Attached: 1537816313600.jpg (640x586, 43K)

Unironically his best movie

Lynch is fairly private about his personal life beyond the big facts so who knows. I don't think he outright hates them. He has said he puts art first above all else and he knows that can be a selfish thing. I read his newer memoir last year and I'm pretty sure his current wife says in it that they don't even sleep in the same room, as well as the fact that she basically begged him to get her pregnant. But despite those things his son Riley was an assistant on TPS3 and he clearly doesn't mind his youngest daughter.

I don't know if you meant this of when he got his head blown off but I still think this is the most disgusting thing ever put to film. Nothing in the most gore filled exploitation flick has ever made me feel as revolted as this scene.

This is exactly what I meant. And I sure as fuck ain't clicking that bitch.

I can't deny Lynch knows what he's doing and does it well. I'm disturbed by how easily he gets under my skin.

OK, I need context, some explanation. Help.

the original might've been posted on David Lynch's website at some point (along with his famous whether reports and cooking quinoa) from his Inland Empire era when he fell in love with digital cinema.
For whatever reason he took all those down and now we only get echos like that one posted during the early days of youtube

>he fell in love with digital cinema.
>hates phones
He never made kino again after MD, right? Is there hope?

I meant digital medium. And no, Lynch has made plenty of kino since MD, including Inland Empire and The Return. He will continue making kino when he feels damn ready for it.

>when he feels damn ready for it
Apparently he has a script written, but finding people willing to finance the project is a problem.

oh fuck i used to have this.
