what are you talking about, except that one first sequence it was great

The first one was also bad. They were fun movies assuming you didn't listen to any of the dialogue or pay attention to the incredibly stupid premise of the show.

>what are you talking about
Why are you pretending the overwhelmingly predominant consensus on the first movie being good and the second and third being awful is somehow surprising to you?

Neo was too powerful, plain and simple. There was nowhere for him or any others to grow. Maybe the movies would have been interesting if they focused more on how Neo was changing the Matrix and freeing humanity, but that would have been too involved. It was easier to just amp up the fight sequences and use more bullet-time shots.

Because your a pleb. Reloaded is almost as good as the first and barring the all the Zion in Revolutions, Revolutions has the only ending that thematically makes sense.

>The first one was also bad.
No it fucking wasn't. First Matrix film was great. You didn't know what was going on in the beginning. He gets into some conspiratorial underground shit and gets pursued by these dangerous and unstoppable seeming government spooks. Then he gets pulled out of the simulation into that beautiful nightmare shot of vast electrified towers made out of unconscious human pods. Morpheus is cool and you trust him but quickly see he's out of his depth when it comes to these government spooks.
Brief but poignant encounter with the Oracle hints at some higher powers involved in this whole dystopian cyberpunk struggle. Cypher betrayal thing was well done and you really believed he had good reason for it through the little things like how they were stuck eating protein gruel in place of actual food as we know it. And then Neo finally seeing the code and becoming Superman was about as rewarding of a climax you could hope for.
I think the problem with the subsequent two is they had nowhere to go after that. Increasing familiarity with the characters and plot points really worked against the mystery and excitement the first one was driven by.

Because you’re a brainlet who still thinks the allegory of the cave is the epitome of philosophical growth and ideas.

>Because your a pleb.
No, you're just a contrarian. Anyone with open eyes being honest with themselves will clearly see the quality gap with the Matrix vs. Reloaded and Revolutions. It's this mostly:
>Neo was too powerful, plain and simple. There was nowhere for him or any others to grow.
You already got the right ending with Neo telling them over the phone he was coming for them and then flying off to the backing of Rage Against the Machine. Other two were meandering bullshit.

>thinks the allegory of the cave is the epitome of philosophical growth
What a garbage strawman. Nobody liked the Matrix just because of the premise the world we live in is simulated.

>consensus say it's bad so it's bad
is this how your feeble mind operates

No, I'm asking why you're pretending to be surprised by what is by far the most common opinion on this.

>You already got the right ending with Neo telling them over the phone he was coming for them and then flying off to the backing of Rage Against the Machine. Other two were meandering bullshit.

But that's exactly my point! Exactly!

Had they just left it at the first movie, that would have been fine. But since the Matrix was a success, the studios decided to ring that shammy as much as possible. The Wachowskis, experiencing their first real blockbuster success, jumped at the chance to make more and they realized their error far too late, which was that Neo was way too powerful at the end of the first movie. You have this being who can see and manipulate the code of the Matrix through sheer tyranny of will and they decided to scale him back to the point where a few agent upgrades were enough to give him some degree of difficulty. As soon as I saw him battle the new agents in Reloaded, I knew that the magic was forever gone.

At least Don Davis created some great soundtracks and the Animatrix had a few cool stories. So it wasn't a complete loss, I suppose.

Actually there were lots. But let’s pretend you’re one of the special types of people who are very unique and different.

The first Matrix was about Neo finding that this world isn’t real and seeing his character stumble through this new world as he learned to free his mind and manipulate the world around him. We get to see his progression of discovery in a series of higher stakes chase scenes and fights. At the end of the movie, Neo realizes his full potential and defeats the bad guy, leaving no further conflict and ultimately giving us a happy ending.

The Matrix Reloaded, if we remove all philosophical allegories to make this an even comparison, is essentially the same thing. Neo has now realized his full potential and he is now exploring what that full potential means both in and out of the matrix. However, what Reloaded does more (and better) than the first one is showing us that in finding this truth about the world and himself, Neo is feeling even more secluded and alone in his world. We then find that Smith is in a similar boat as well and Neo, who had fought to the death against him, finds someone who is like him and makes him feel less alone and makes him question his true purpose. On top of all of that he also discovers the truth in the cycles of the matrix and Zion itself and realizes that no matter what happy ending, in the end the same things would always occur. The ending of Reloaded is not a happy ending, then, even though it’s essentially the same thing as the first one. And that’s because the stakes are now more complex than just good vs bad. There are now many competing characters and motives and potential end results. There are way more angles to the story of the Matrix Reloaded that allow it to explore many other thematic topics. I didn’t cover them in this post because they would be too long, but I think anyone can already see the potential Reloaded has over The Matrix in terms of delving into all of its subtexts.

In essence: Matrix Reloaded is the KOTOR 2 to The Matrix’s KOTOR.

and Revolutions is Force Unleashed

>But that's exactly my point! Exactly!
What do you mean "but that's?" I led into your post with:
>It's this mostly:
Which clearly means I was agreeing with you.

>Actually there were lots.
No there fucking weren't. If anything people were more into the Matrix because of the crazy visuals. I'll say it again: Nobody liked the Matrix just because of the premise the world we live in is simulated. Garbage strawman.

Keep reading, retard spazoid. Or actually don’t. I don’t want to see another reply from you.

it's not very common, most people enjoy matrix reloaded. The action scenes alone are probably some of the most watched youtube videos out there compared to most movie scenes. Normies usually saw Revolutions as the more disappointing one because so much of it is in Zion, that's about it.

overall one of the best trilogies of all time

Maybe try writing a post that isn't based on a blatant lie. And also maybe try writing one that wasn't lifted from that Wachowskis interview everyone already saw.

Like I said, keep reading because I based my post not on that “lie” to help ease my penis into your tight virgin asshole.

lolnope. the second and third movies are trainwrecks. the first movie is an inspired piece of kinography.

The matrix and the animatrix were surprisingly both kino.

Based adherence to norms poster enjoying the comforts of his mass validated opinion

Based retard trying to rewrite history. You probably pretend that the SW prequels were loved too.

Based retard that thinks the mass opinion in history isn’t the one you spouted

Reminder that zoomers got absolutely fooled into loving the first Matrix while boomers have been holding on to the secret that the second movie was actually the best in the trilogy all along.

Zoomer status= bamboozled by boomers yet again

>SW prequels were loved too.
correct

No. I'm in my 30s and everyone I knew at the time loved the first one and hated the other two.

you live in bizarro world. The simulation aspect was THE ENTIRE appeal for most people. Or rather, not the simulation itself, but the whole skepticism made hip type of thing, us vs the mindless sheep, the smug violence, you vs "the system". Morpheus being black wasn't an accident either, neither was seraph being asian etc. it was all conscious exploitation by the wachowskis to give it a cool underground flavor (this was before diversity had become a netflix soros meme)

Right, which is what we wanted the zoomers to think all along. You must not have gotten the memo. Sorry buddy looks like you weren’t deemed important enough for the boomer chain of command.

Completely delusional. Prequel hating was a meme even before memes were a meme. Nobody liked child Anakin, pod racing was retarded and a waste of time, even the light saber fighting was somehow bad, and while today Jar Jar Binks is cool in an ironic way at the time he was literally just Jar Jar Binks and all the "what the fuck was Lucas thinking" that said character entailed.

>you live in bizarro world.
>The simulation aspect was THE ENTIRE appeal for most people
Hey buddy. Do you not know what bullet time is? You know who else didn't know what bullet time was? Everyone, before the first Matrix movie came out. Acting like the groundbreaking special effects and aesthetics didn't matter for the Matrix and its extreme success / popularity is ridiculous.

why do people bother replying to tripfags?
You can tell Revolutions was way worse because of how badly MTV roasted it: youtube.com/watch?v=x82rX-TGIBU
It's easy to make fun of Revolution's dialogue...because the dialogue was terrible.

>I’m in my 30s
Hahaha holy shit you could be my dad. What the fuck you old ass boomer

You're wrong and delusional, enjoy being on the wrong side of history sweetie. Everyone that hates podracing should be enforced to take female hormones and and apply for verified twitter user status. Anyone that hated any aspect of the prequels will be the first to go on the day of the rope.

Yeah, they were trying way too hard to have the Architect sound smart. They also sent what I believe were unintentional mixed messages by having him try to come across as detached and robotic yet at the same time having him exhibit pride, disgust, condescension, etc. I know others will jump on this and say "that was on purpose, it shows how the line between human and machine is blurred" or whatever. But unlike with Blade Runner I don't get the impression that's what they were really trying to do.

better than the average mcu movie though
the highway chase from 2 is kino
expectation were just so high after the first 1

>Hahaha holy shit you could be my dad. What the fuck you old ass boomer
Everyone who used Yea Forums when it was created is in their 30s or older you dummy. It's you zoomers who inexplicably latched onto us years later instead of starting your own zoomer oriental cartoon enthusiast website.

first was a great mix of interesting premise and great gun fights and martial arts. good hero's journey arc.

second film was largely forgettable but the freeway chase was 10/10

third film - i barely remember anything about this film, just that it was like the cgi fight at the start of 2 dialled up by a factor of 100, completely ridiculous.
