Why were the second and third Matrix films so bad? Did they forget how to make movies after the first one?

what are you talking about, except that one first sequence it was great

The first one was also bad. They were fun movies assuming you didn't listen to any of the dialogue or pay attention to the incredibly stupid premise of the show.

>what are you talking about
Why are you pretending the overwhelmingly predominant consensus on the first movie being good and the second and third being awful is somehow surprising to you?

Neo was too powerful, plain and simple. There was nowhere for him or any others to grow. Maybe the movies would have been interesting if they focused more on how Neo was changing the Matrix and freeing humanity, but that would have been too involved. It was easier to just amp up the fight sequences and use more bullet-time shots.

Because your a pleb. Reloaded is almost as good as the first and barring the all the Zion in Revolutions, Revolutions has the only ending that thematically makes sense.

>The first one was also bad.
No it fucking wasn't. First Matrix film was great. You didn't know what was going on in the beginning. He gets into some conspiratorial underground shit and gets pursued by these dangerous and unstoppable seeming government spooks. Then he gets pulled out of the simulation into that beautiful nightmare shot of vast electrified towers made out of unconscious human pods. Morpheus is cool and you trust him but quickly see he's out of his depth when it comes to these government spooks.
Brief but poignant encounter with the Oracle hints at some higher powers involved in this whole dystopian cyberpunk struggle. Cypher betrayal thing was well done and you really believed he had good reason for it through the little things like how they were stuck eating protein gruel in place of actual food as we know it. And then Neo finally seeing the code and becoming Superman was about as rewarding of a climax you could hope for.
I think the problem with the subsequent two is they had nowhere to go after that. Increasing familiarity with the characters and plot points really worked against the mystery and excitement the first one was driven by.

Because you’re a brainlet who still thinks the allegory of the cave is the epitome of philosophical growth and ideas.

>Because your a pleb.
No, you're just a contrarian. Anyone with open eyes being honest with themselves will clearly see the quality gap with the Matrix vs. Reloaded and Revolutions. It's this mostly:
>Neo was too powerful, plain and simple. There was nowhere for him or any others to grow.
You already got the right ending with Neo telling them over the phone he was coming for them and then flying off to the backing of Rage Against the Machine. Other two were meandering bullshit.

>thinks the allegory of the cave is the epitome of philosophical growth
What a garbage strawman. Nobody liked the Matrix just because of the premise the world we live in is simulated.
