Lynch's work rely heavily on simbolism and dreams. I think Goddard has a problem with this. I find Goddard wrong here, since all movies come from personal places in one way or the other but I disagree with the idea that Lynch's movies are all about him. Lynch taps into a creepy collective subconscious that most people have and explores it. I really dig his approach.

>simbolism

>Lynch taps into a creepy collective subconscious that most people have and explores it.
It sucks to noy be one of those people ;_;

You don't find a connection with Lynch's work? I do admit that some movies are a stretch (Inland Empire) but Mullholand Dr. for me is one of the greatest movies ever. Such an eerie atmosphere even in the first half where everything is "perfect". And the dinner scene with the shrink was my only true scare I have had while watching a movie.

>tfw you've outlived all those other bastards

What’s that got to do with a creepy collective subconscious though? And why is Lynch terrified of the Uruk Hai?

>And why is Lynch terrified of the Uruk Hai?
Why aren't you?

He is right in the sense that Lynch himself admited that all the symbolism in his movies is meaningless, and it's only there as part of an aesthetic sense that pleases him.

The only things I remember about Mulholland Drive are that Robert Forster seemed like he was going to be an important character, and then we never see him again, and that Naomi Watts seemed much more believable when she was acting (in her audition) than when she was being herself.

>simbolism
really shows us what kind of IQ you must have to enjoy Lynch's flicks.

This video has some interesting points if you wanna know more about Lynch's work with subconscious tones. Regarding the Uruk Hai, I have no clue, maybe he is just a hobbit from The Shire.

I don't think IQ correlates to art appreciation that well. I know both idiots and very smart people that like Lynch's work. IQ is useful for articulating WHY you like the work, though.

are we not all primates, friend?

I love Mullholand Dr the most and I like a few other of his works, but what's stopping me from liking Mullholand and the others even more is that I still find it a bit lazy that the conclusion of the story and meaning of most of the things that happened is
>dreams lmao
What the fuck's up with the midget who's shutting everything down? Why didn't he expand on the directors character? Why didn't he expand on the Camilla Rhodes in the first part?

>>dreams lmao
It's how he's ended everything since Lost Highway lmao

Lynch is a hack.

>muh eraserhead

Pretentious shite

>muh blue velvet

Edgy garbage people namedrop to.seem hip

>dune

Too ambitious of a projevt to be handed to Lynch.

It's just hair envy.

at least Lynch's symbolism is interesting to decode
Jodorowsky's symbolism is surface trash

Because it's all vacuous shit. Surrealism is the most vapid of all art styles.

Godard is raging that some other director is known for smoking now
