They expanded the best picture category to be able to pander to more interest groups and keep the ratings from falling so fast. But the side effect of doing this is that the voting is split more ways than ever so that even a real piece of shit can win unexpectedly.

This film would have been the 9th on the run for Best Picture at any year. This year was so shit that got into the big 3 possible choices without a problem and won.
The problem was the year, not the movie, which was enjoyable and both male actors were pretty good at their roles (For once Ali did acting work instead of just looking serious at the camera all the time, as in Moonlight)
