I think it's fine and cute (it's just one picture for fun by a fan, not a new character designer's actual redo) but if you want an honest answer any genuine "outrage" probably because Mermista definitely looks like she's not right in the reboot while Glimmer and Frosta look kind of ambiguous and maybe some kind of mixed race, while here all three look definitely white. The body and feminine stuff usually doesn't get as much traction as "outrage" as making non white characters white. A lot of the hate going to this artist had pretty much the same type of people who harrass that one female artist for drawing that one fat character skinny from Steven Universe. She was driven to near suicide. Again it happen with another female artist for drawing a trans character to his/she/attack helicopter original sex from Dream Daddy. That one thankfully wasn't driven to do anything harmful but still a shitty thing to happen to her. Now here we are with another female artist who decided to draw a character to her original look and use scene from the new show. Was it out of spite or negative reason? No it wasn't, but people on a certain side decided it was, just like how they believed the artist I mentioned. Throughout this whole I worried for the artist state of being but it seemed that she took it in stride. Which is good. But damn, the same bullshit seem to keep happening for some stupid reasons.

every artist and creatively minded person always makes stuff for themselves based on their sensibilities and those with similar taste will inevitably flock to it, and the show itself is certainly geared towards young children, the main character is a princess warrior, the overall tone of the show is comedic and the story is easy to follow.

Noelle being given greenlight to do what she wants also means that she can disregard the least savory aspects of children's enterainment, namely selling toys. this is why 80's cartoons are dismissed as toy commercials, everybody sees them as cynical advertisements geared towards naive children. even if you'd like to argue that some of the people working on those shows actually enjoyed themselves you can't ignore the objective fact that cartoons like He-Man, Transformers and TMNT were made as a platform to promote their product and unless you're too bloody thick to understand, people don't like the idea of corporate brainwashing.
