This. Anyone who judges from the art style alone are retartrd, since they don't know that sometimes there are good shows with bad art styles, like pic related, and bad shows with good art styles, like any cartoon from the early-mid 80s.
Why do people claim that animation was better in the 80s when it really wasn't?
reaching that boomer age of going over the good old days, i tell you what
80s cartoons have a weird duplex syndrome to them.
On one hand they are usually made to promote something, usually a toy line, but on the other hand a lot of them genuinely try to do the best with what they have.
He-Man for example reuses the same rotoscoped animations constantly but somehow manages to get a story of the week out there and some episodes are actually pretty good even if you can tell they literally were throwing any old idea into it without any thought of continuity.
But some of them really did genuinely try really hard. Like say Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors or Dungeons and Dragons.
And I feel you wouldn't get cartoons like that these days.
>The idea that animation before wasn't signalling as many virtues
Yeah, can't we go back to classic nonpandering shows like Captain Planet?
1st grade level reading comprehension
nostalgiafags are mentally ill
Illiterate retards
It was a low bar and some shows managed to go even lower than that.
>And I feel you wouldn't get cartoons like that these days.
Of course not. Those shows came around to compete with what Star Wars was doing. Nowadays fuck that.
Akira was released in the 80's.
