I agree but also still like Florpus. I think things like changing the Membranes so Dib's arc having an emotional payoff works best for this since it's supposed to be a movie, not just a random episode in a TV series. And usually in movies, you want a self contained emotional journey. If we assume this is the last of ZIM, I'd rather it play out by having all of the Membranes finally fight alongside Dib and help him take out ZIM than just keep playing up the same joke of, "Dib is alone, everyone thinks he's a dumb loser" that we've already seen for two seasons.

Also, ZIM didn't discover the Tallest lied about his mission. He believed he failed the Tallest and that they changed their flight path so that they wouldn't come by to Urth. That's why he screamed, "THE TALLEST AREN'T COMING!" and started wailing. And it's why Dib went on to talk to ZIM about, "Everyone thinks I'm a failure, too".

I like the new designs, but something was bothering me with how it looks. Pretty sure it's the color palette. On a rewatch, I did notice there was some attempt to make the backgrounds grimy and disgusting like the show, but it's defeated by the colors. Needed more browns and olive greens, less emphasis on blues and pinks. Also could have used more goofy off-screen kills and more poking fun at humanity's impending terminality as seen in the show, but this special was good enough that I'd be fine with just fixing the colors and leaving everything else the same.

Yeah and Vasquez changed for the better. His old and edgier stuff he made as a teen and young adult may seem really cool when you're 13, not so much as an adult. He made Gaz less of a one-dimensional stereotype. I fail to see how that is a bad thing.

Not a fan of the brighter colors but I like the new characteristics of the Membranes

The original show had more cynical humor, which I was/am a fan of. Also most of the background characters in Florpus didn't look as gross as those in the show. Oh, and the world in Florpus generally had a "cleaner" vibe to it compared to the show where it was more of a dystopian future.

Basically I felt the show had more personality to it than the movie, which overall felt like Zim, but a bit watered down in comparison.

Hardly, one of the most nightmarish official comics has Dib paranoid about the secret irkens roaming around the streets. It ends with a confrontation with Zim, where he reveals to Dib Membrane that he is one of them.

Some scenarios in this series is a body swap episode. The strangest thing is that Dib membrane and Gir somehow manage to switch minds. That might seem like a minor joke but there is reason why that can happen, Dib’s brain is no less artificial than Zim’s pak or Gir’s codes. It’s not even speculation, we already saw it in the show.

And finally, one of the biggest things about this series doesn’t have to do with anything special. You know how in earth, the west’s dominance has effectively made the whole world speak english? A similar event might have happened, but with the Irkens being that dominant force, even using the typical a-b-c’s on their worlds. What this means that some Irkens have an influence on earth, way before the tallest banish Zim there. Judging by how the society is so ridiculously neglectful of aliens when even the dumbest species are aware of them, the ridiculously dangerous affects of the planet’s meat and water, or their disturbing experiments (including Dib and Gaz). It’s almost like a secret Irken base for taking out Irkens. If the humans don’t know about aliens, they’ll keep advancing their technology and their weird magic without considering any early wars against the Irkens, plus their planet will provide them all of the resources for their eventual hidden goal. So the tallest unknowingly did send Zim to a really important mission, but none of them could ever suspect a thing.
