Why does DC make all these separate live action universes and expect people to be able to keep track of all of them? They've got:
>DCEU
>Gotham
>Arrowverse
>Titans
>Krypton
>Pennyworth
>Probably some other stuff

And now they're trying to introduce ANOTHER movie universe with this DC Black. Why do they think people have the patience to keep track of 50 separate canons?

As long as there's an alternative to the Margotverse who cares. Let them put eggs in all different baskets and just make good films and series.

Incompetence

Aren't Pennyworth and Gotham in the same universe?

Canon doesn't matter.

this

they don't care about diluting their own brands (outside of Batman)

Why do you feel the need to keep track of all of them? Pick and choose what you want to watch, them referencing each other shouldn't be the driving force in your decision nor does it imply quality (just look at the MCU)

Yes they are. Still don't know what the fuck Epix is

Gosh, consolidating all those different Universes is going to end up causing some kind of...Crisis.

Except when it does because shows or movies try to interact with each other. Canon is nothing but the established story of a shared universe. If you say "canon doesn't matter" what you're saying is the narrative consistency of the broader story doesn't matter.

Yet another premium channel like HBO that people are stupid enough to pay for. I get paying for something like Amazon because you get a bunch of shit with it besides Prime Video, but a single bumfuck channel nobody cares about? Why?

DC Black isn't a universe you fucking moron it's a label that allows filmmakers to make whatever they want using the DC IP or would have been if Joker hadn't bombed as hard as it did. And Krypton was canceled months ago and Gotham was canceled like two years ago

Aren't the shows all over anyway outside of Titans and their spin offs?

Because they're all separate shows and movies that aren't overly reliant on one another. The MCU's greatest feature is its biggest hindrance in that movies are less self contained and able to be their own kind of movie and have to conform to an overly generic tone set by the first Iron Man film. And we really shouldn't be wanting more MCU imitators, it just hasn't worked for anyone else. Even Disney's other attempts have failed miserably.

Most of those shows and movies you greentexted have gotten at least somewhat positive reactions. Now people are sad that Krypton is getting cancelled because the second season was better than the first. And the Arrowverse is still going strong even after GA ends.

>them referencing each other shouldn't be the driving force in your decision nor does it imply quality (just look at this shared universe that has massive audience and critical acclaim)

Joker isn't even out, are you fucking high?

He is a company warrior. Best to just ignore him

>would have been if Joker hadn't bombed as hard as it did
Can you tell me what the stock market is like in your time? I want to capitalize on meeting someone from the future.

What has Disney attempted to imitate the MCU with? And don't say Star Wars.

what broader story? They don't interact with eachother.

>Because they're all separate shows and movies that aren't overly reliant on one another.
Not true for the CWverse. If they were ALL seperate that would be one thing, but multiple incompatible shared universes with DC characters? That's the worst of all worlds.

I jut can't believe anyone thinks Joker will bomb. I have no idea how successful it will be or if it will be a good film but there isn't a chance of a bomb

Bruh, the arrowverse has had multiple crossovers. They're literally preparing for their "Biggest crossover yet"

You're proving OP's point, because you can't even keep track of this shit.

Honestly wish that DC would drop the entire idea of making cinematic universes and just make standalone superhero movies again

The budget is also pretty small for a superhero movie. It will make profit at his opening weekend.

watch what you wanna watch, faggot.

Even if it did bomb, look at how Terminator is making yet another movie after two bombs in a row. When a company is as big as WB they simply do not give a fuck and just make whatever they feel like.

That's what they're doing for the most part. Shazam didn't interact with any of the DCU for instance. There's the universe Margot Robbie is somehow getting paycheques from but it's terrible so no one cares.

Star Wars

>I mean it's so much better when everything is "supposedly" connected, except they're kinda not except maybe they are, like we've seen with Netflix and Agents of SHIELD, and the average Joe thinks that unless he watches all fifty movies, nine live action TV series, six Disney+ exclusive streaming shows, he's going to be too confused to watch Avengers 7: Electric boogaloo.

MCU faggots truly are retarded.
>Marvel had Netflex
>Fox
>Shield
>Films
>New Disney Plus shit.
>Blade universe
>Ghost Rider Universe.
>Fanastic Four Universes.

Somebody has something on James Cameron and he's allowing them to shit all over his creations to stave off #metoo allegations.

>I'm too stupid to hold a bunch of stuff in my head, so other people are too stupid to hold a bunch of stuff in their heads too.

Weaponising "it's a movie, turn your brain off" into actively melting your brain if you try to correlate it

Marvel movies are unwatchable

“For you.”

I dont think that maintaining the narrative consistency of the broader story is necessarily that important. If it is holding the creator back from making a good story on it's own, I'd rather have them play it loose with regards to cannon. Look at basically any of the x-men movies that were even remotely good. Dofp, First Class, and Logan all completely fuck the cannon and just tell a decent story.

Gee, it's just like actual comic books.

Joker is an R rated movie that tries to aim to a different audience while mantaining the hardcore fanbase because, well, it's the fucking Joker. If this goes well they may try this kind of route with different characters.

>Because shared universe ≠ good

Man, the MCU really infected the minds of the people, I don't care if there are several universes or only one, I want good stories!!! tell me, how many event are good compared to individual story arcs?

Individual story arcs >>>>> crossovers/team-ups >>>> events if you don't agree you're a faggot and I'm glad the big two are scamming you, go enjoy your tie-in comic/movie about a character you don't even like just to follow the "canon"

This!

you forgot inhumans

>OP can't keep up with 8+ different world stories
Wow
God help you if you started reading comics or manga that didn't all run in each their own universe.

I think you misunderstood OP's point. All of those examples are the same universe except F4 that marvel studios didn't have the license for and blade and ghostrider that came out long before this 'cinematic universe' thing started.
Marvel has consolidated everything into a single cannon. DC is going the opposite route by splintering everything and making multiple versions of the same characters.

I like what dc is doing. I don't hate the MCU, but I'd much rather have directors be given free hands with the IP than be slaved to the cinematic universe
