So does DC still give a shit about Doomsday Clock anymore? When it was first released they were pushing it as THE event of the decade but now it's pretty much forgotten. Also when the fuck does it take place? I keep reading that it takes place one year in the future of prime earth, but the series has been delayed so terribly that it seems like any plans to lead current titles into it will be incredibly messy. How can DC save this almost-wreck?

Didio and Johns are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of valuing continuity and history so since Didio has a lot of control right now he's downplaying the book as much as possible
It's no longer canon.
I honestly don't think it was ever canon.
It's pretty much long past the point of salvaging it. Since Johns appears to be in the midst of some behind-the-scenes breakdown which has lead to a delay in ALL his current books, to the point where even Gary Frank's glacial drawing pace can't be used as an excuse anymore, the best Didio can do is move on ahead without him.
I'm pretty sure from the beginning it was meant to be one of those things that retcons itself at the end, the whole "set one year in the future" thing screams that
False. Snyder misspoke and corrected himself
Well considering that every issue is a top seller regardless of the delays it's not as bad as Yea Forums keeps hoping it is.
I mean it is terrible but there is no denying that it still winds up in the top 10 sales charts whenever a new issue does actually drop, yes.
This feels like direct sabotage by Dan Didio in a petty pissing contest against Johns. Although to be fair, Geoff should have prewrote the thing and gotten a faster artist
Nah, if Didio wanted to sabotage this then he'd just cancel it, force Johns to take a co-writer to speed up the scripting, force a replacement artist, etc. Really all the obvious evidence points to all the delays being entirely on Johns.
Alright Yea Forums predict the date issue 12 will come out.
Put my money on February 5th 2020.
April 5th, 2958, the 1000th anniversary of Adventure #247
Might as well be an elseworlds story now
>noo nuclear war isn't the way lmao take it from me, Batman
Honestly I don't feel like DC (or Marvel) has had even semi-cohesive shared continuity for over a decade now.
Underwhelming "events" are known to push down the entire line.
You've heard of "a rising tide lifts all ships"? This is the opposite.
Marvel and DC have so mismanaged their "events" for such a long time that they cause people to check out of the entire universe because no one has faith in it anymore.
>It still sells in the top ten!
Compare it to Infinite Crisis or Final Crisis.
Compare Heroes in Crisis to past events.
DC is dead.
Its sales are pretty much the same as Final Crisis, even better at a few points.
So does Batman, what’s your point?
No.
Scott Snyder even said it was non-canon and that everyone was ignoring it (with Scott Snyder using the JSA and Bendis using the Legion of Superheroes)
>**Nrama**: So does this tie in to Doomsday Clock at all? Because we’ve seen the seeds of the Justice Society returning in Doomsday Clock.
>**Snyder**: Not really. I mean, Doomsday Clock really is its own wonderful, incredible story. The kind of light connection between them is just that, what Geoff and I talked about was because Doomsday Clock is kind of running at its own pace and in its own kind of continuity, what I didn’t want to do was bring the JSA back before he had a chance to reintroduce them as a concept in issue #10.
>I think that’s similar with other characters that he’s going to be using in Doomsday Clock as well.
>So there’s a nod to each other in that regard. I wanted him to be able to have the JSA as an idea, and have that first appearance in Doomsday Clock.
>But in terms of the continuities linking up, Doomsday Clock is a very special and inspirational book. We’re all amazed, I think, at how good it is. **But its effects are relatively self-contained to itself.**
>misspoke
He didn’t misspoke shit. He spilled the truth that Doomsday Clock was no longer canon (while DClock was still ongoing).
Snyder was just yelled at by DC and had to do damage control and lie. He meant every word.
>if I lie people will believe my headcanon
>Nrama: Hey Snyder, will Doomsday Clock connect to your book since you are using the JSA?
>Scott Snyder: Nah, I ain’t using that shit. No one at DC is. It is self-contained and being ignored.
>Later
>Scott Snyder: Did I say that Doomsday Clock was non-canon? What I meant to say was that it was the most canon book ever! It is the canoniest canon book that was ever canon canon canon! It will totally play a big role in my book and the universe! So please don’t cancel your subscription!
He spilled the beans, user.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they find the shittiest, most contrived way to make this canon even if they have to retcon 100 diff things
It's been roundly speculated that Johns is planning another universe reset with the end of Doomsday Clock and that part of the reasons for the delays (beyond Johns being a cunt and refusing to let anyone but Frank draw it) was that Bendis was guaranteed X-Number of issues of Superman, due to Bendis putting it in his contract that his run MUST be collected in omnibus format along with the usual hardcover/softcover releases.
And that Johns was going to erase the entire Bendis run with the end of Doomsday Clock to return to the Rebirth status quo, due to fan backlash to John being aged up and the Bendis run in general.
Even his original thing says it's canon, idiot
>top 10
>DC only has 10 comics at this point anyway
Sounds like your usual retarded fan fiction where you blame Bendis for everything.
Top 10 for everything retard.
It's not even going to finish this DECADE. Issue #11 is slated for LATE this year. Who knows when #12 will come out.
Try reading the comic. It completely contradicts the current DC continuity. It's literally impossible for it to be canon.
It's been clear ever since Bendis came on to DC and completely ignored it that it was no longer canon.
Marvel pretty much threw out the idea of being absolutely tied to continuity when Civil War happened. Then when the whole Marvel NOW! disaster started they flat out just threw out continuity altogether.
Worst of Both worlds.
We don't get creators having creative freedom due to continuity with other books, but we don't get a cohesive universe either.
Marvel's never ever ever rebooted
Dc does every few years
If Bendis ignoring shit made things non-canon, nothing would be canon.
Would be nice, desu
But not possible at all
You don’t reset universe because of three shitty books
2020 is technically part of this decade, just like 2000 is technically part of the 20th Century
There was no year 0
>based didio excommunicationg this abomination
Considering what Watchmen sold back in the day when comics weren't a dying medium to the point DC was willing to burn bridges with Moore completely to keep it, it's just a quick cashgrab that no one will remember a year after it concludes in 2024.
He says it is “self-contained” and that everyone is ignoring it.
Which is why Snyder is using the JSA, Bendis is using the Legion of Superheroes, and why Jon is an adult in the past when Doomsday Clock has Lois and Clark talking Perry being his guardian (and no mention of their marriage being on the rocks).
Doomsday Clock is no longer canon.
>Compare it to Infinite Crisis or Final Crisis.
>Final Crisis #6 110,858
>Doomsday Clock #6 135,155
Why don't we compare Heroes in Crisis to the latest Marvel event with their final issues?
>War of Realms #6, 68,965
>Heroes In Crisis #9, 77,582
Good job user. Your point and post completely falls apart
>(beyond Johns being a cunt and refusing to let anyone but Frank draw it)
They want it to be a trade that sells for years to come so this is understandable. Frank should have started drawing it a year before they even released #1 though
Marvel does, DC doesn't even try to keep one either for their own mistakes or reboots.
>
>threw out the idea of being absolutely tied to continuity when Civil War happened
>they flat out just threw out continuity altogether.
Wow, imagine being so wrong.
>Snyder misspoke and corrected himself
Wrong, that's called "damage control".
Snyder throw shit about an ongoing event published by the company he works with, so he was told to say he "misspoke", but he didn't misspoke shit, he flat out said it isn't canon and it doesn't matter to the other books, so for that reason he is going to ignore it.
>then he'd just cancel it
Kek, like he can.
More like the writer of the article was asked to correct Snyder. Let's face it, the writing's on the wall, DClock is no longer canon, John's took too long, everyone got bored and fed up. Why else would the Legion, the JSA, and Young Justice be back before the comic even wrapped up?
is it still going lmao
There are only two issues and I wouldn't be suprised if the reason why Johns is rewriting his last two issues is because of the random sudden changes that keep happening. They should have waited a bit longer before rushing to announce Legion and JSA.
this sounds like it was written by a 10 year old
This is fan fiction. Only the Superman omnibus is true
Lol
You for real? I always feel Marvel has a shared continuity and universe, but they like to retcon things.
While for DC they have too many reboots and too many alternate universes to feel wholesome, but still it feels like continuity.
