I tried M&M 2e once or twice back in the day. Did they ever fix character creation or does it still take a million hours just to end up with a broken game full of minmaxed Shazam-Lanterns?

Just use the free version of Hero Lab to build a character if you don't want to do the math that's what my gorup does

No but that's because Superheroes in general aren't on the same powerlevels as there teammates it's why Batman can be on a team with Superman and Green Lantern. M&M is more roleplaying then game and the the GM is suppose to veto any powers or powersets he doesn't want or thinks might be overpowered
