it's been almost half a decade since I saw this shit and I'm currently re-watching the entire series so my memory of it is pretty foggy.

Now that you mention it she has used it on more than two people at once before and yeah she was pretty exhausted almost immediately afterwards so guess you're right.

While the writing and animation has gotten marginally better, the fu king characters and animation have taken a huge nosedive in quality.

Take the fight between Cinder and the blonde lady with glasses in Episode 1. That was great and was truly a battle between spellcasters. Monty may have had the writing skills of a 13 year old web but he voul corrgraph some genuinely cool fight scenes.

Also the best character was Roman and they killed him so now everyone is just awful

Cinder S1-3 wasnt bad but yeah when she stopped being a spellcaster huntress and started fighying everyone with dual blades I thought that was retarded.

The entire show took a nose dive after volume 2

She can't do it to large groups of people without getting a migraine or possibly giving herself a stroke. Last time I recalled her using that power on large groups she literally passed out. Otherwise she has to tunnel-vision on someone and maintain concentration to keep the illusions going. So really all you have to do to kill her/stop her is bait her into using it while having someone else wait out of her line of sight to gank her.

Mercury doesn't have one, because his dad is a dick apparently who had the ability to steal other people's powers, how that man is dead is beyond me. So he had to train and make due without one. He still has aura which apparently is enough to do some bullshit.

Cinder was at her best when she couldn't talk, partly because we didn't have to hear Nigiri's awful performance and partly because that was the only time she was actually an interesting character

Someone with a power like that would be a main villain, not some scrub that gets killed offscreen.

Well no.

For one, she can use it on one person without limitations. Two gives her headaches and makes it hard to maintain. Trying it on 5 knocked her out after only a few seconds and she needed to have a mental breakdown just to accomplish this.

Second they're imperfect, and don't react to the physical world the way an actual object would (ie dust blowing through the illusion girl without touching her).

Third they don't work nearly as well once you know she can do it, and she exposed her abilities to all the good guys so they're wary of it.

He was a drunk so Mercury waited till he'd drunk himself unconsious for the day then set the house ablaze and killed a drunken man on fire. Who already took his semblence so that power wouldn't work on it.

It didn't sound like he had much beyond taking Semblences and having some decent assassin skills. Based on his opinion of semblences being a crutch people rely on to make them weak he mostly targeted hunters who had strong semblences and relied on them for the most part, who fell apart when he stole them.

I miss monty and his autism so much guys :(

I'd argue that she wasn't all that bad 1-4 but her reverting back to her 1-3 personality the moment she got her voice back is terrible. Especially when they had scenes like her being put off by Tyrian going crazy.

Nobody really knows, it would take luck, planning, and bullshit for Mercury to pull that off.

Cinder should die at the end of vol 5. She could pass her Maiden powers to Mercury and that way Mercury become relevant for the plot and had a reason for mourning Cinder (she thought on me before dying) while learning to use her powers off-camera during vol 6. Way better than just standing there. Probably Cinder is the Ponyhead of RWBY, the writers love her.

Emerald's power requires preemptive research and intense concentration if she wants to do anything other than project her own inner fears and Mercury's backstory of his father taking his semblance so he wouldn't come to rely on it when fighting but killing him before getting it back is one of the more interesting backstories.

The show was already wasted potential even when Monty was alive with how poorly put together it was. The choreography and it’s “charm” were the only thing keeping people around.

If she honestly believes Ruby killed Roman then she isn't very smart. Roman was killed by grimm which Salem controls. If anything, screwing Salem over would be the move to make.

He killed his own, and undermined his cause for the sake of easy power grabs. That's a pretty fucking easy fuck-up if you ask me.

Mercury doesn't have a semblance, at least not anymore. His semblance was focused solely into his legs due to the training from hell he received from his abusive father. He wanted it to be something he could use to finally escape from the man. When he did get it, his father cut off both his legs so that he could never use his semblance as a way to teach Mercury that superpowers based on your Soul is weak and too hax in the world of Hunters.

My bet is that his semblance was going to be Superspeed a la the Flash

That's why the bastard did it immediately when Merc's semblance triggered. It's fucked up because at first you think the guy had the ability to just take away semblances but no, bastard did the more horrifying thing and destroyed his son the moment when he got what essentially is a person's inner strength on meth just to prove a point that makes no fucking sense in the first place.

Ruby's semblance is turning into swirling rose pedals and flying some distance. It's pretty fast but nowhere near the tornado making flash shit she was doing in first few volumes.
