How come the bird and Jake are scaled to be the correct size compared to Rango but all the other animals are the same size as him? (like a rabbit, a boar, a few other birds.)

Definitely. To me at least, it largely feels like most CG movies that come out all seem to blend together due to having almost indistinguishable styles.
