Rape is honestly a pretty cheap means of creating drama in a story, so it's used pretty often in comics. I'd assume the most prevalent time would be the 90s to early 2000s. I know nearly ever Image hero was saving women from clear gang rape attempts in the early books.

Depends. Even male characters get raped so they can be given a kid for drama purposes. Cape characters dealing with rape is handled about as well as they deal with being killed... they mention it from time to time, but it's not really important unless the writer wants to make it important that month.

This caused tension in her marriage to Hawkeye (who's a strict believer in the no-kill rule), ultimately leading to their relationship falling apart.
This was untouched for 30 odd years and had largely been forgotten when pic-related decides to drag it back up again for some reason and retcon it as Mockingbird having an affair, because no strong woman who's comfortable in her own skin can be a victim apparently. Of course this actually just paints her in a worse light considering by virtue of her retcon, she flat out murdered the guy she cheated on her husband with to cover it up.

Yeah, Nightwing gettign raped is almost 'iconic' (if in a bad way) at this point, Batman himself being date raped to produce Damien, and you have the scene from Invincible which is more gratuitious than any male-to-female rape scene will ever be allowed to be in mainline comics.
