My take would be lack of clear, strong direction. They made moves in one direction then backtracked or corporate instituted changes. They built subplots that went nowhere. Characters spent large chunks of the series with no real goals or motivations
So it meandered, hit walls, or played redundant threads

Pacing was all over the place and the writers struggled with juggling the large cast. Also, all of this

2) People who actually watch the show only cared about gay headcanon horseshit than what actually happens in the show
