Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure

I just finished the final episode of Season 1. This show is fucking wonderful. I love it to death. I love how charming everyone is, I love how it has genuine moments of sadness and ugliness, I love Rapunzel and how she's very good but also has huge flaws that frequently get her into trouble. This show is phenomenal and I'm ashamed I didn't start watching it sooner.

You aren't alone with those thoughts. It's a very comfy show to watch. It's kind of rare that a cartoon off-shoot of a movie actually maintains the qualities of the original.

As a side note I discovered a few months ago that a guy at work secretly enjoys the show and watches it with his young daughter (a big fan of the show) as a cover for his interest. :^)

The show seems to transcend a wide age range.

This show is fun and has it's unexpected moments. Also it felt like there is a new story-board artist for the newer episodes? Some of the animation direction looked different.

I keep hearing good opinions about this. I also learned that this is being made by the crew who formerly worked on Penn Zero. I guess I have to check it out now.

The next episode is called “Rapunzeltopia” which is about Raps is dreaming in her ideal world where she’s in Corona, still has short brown hair, no black rocks things happen and no Varian’s betrayal. I guess it should be the endgame of the mansion.

The following episode is “Lost and Found” which features the monkey Vigor again and the ancient scientist Demanitus will voice in this episode first time.

The house is much better because it is always different. The tropical island became stale quickly. Hell even the first part of their journey was pretty boring.

Rapunzel was imprisoned in the tower in her childhood so she wishes to give more freedom to the kids. Eugene grew in an orphanage and he understands how annoying and naughty the kids could be so he prefers showing the boss side to kids. Their parenting stances are on point with their life experience.

I question if the de-aging magic top can resize the clothes/armour but where is Shorty's clothes when he was transformed into a baby?

I heard the storyboarder of Raps' dark transformation scene is the same as who storyboarding Kida's transformation in Atlantis.

Episode 2 had grizzled cop adventures
Episode 3 was fun and had the start of the issues between Cass and Rapunzel that came to a head in Great Tree.

I am fine with the group stuck in a place for multi episodes. Background drawing needs a lot of efforts and it takes more works than that of season 1, considering S1 mostly takes place in Corona. I feel it would have been a waste if most of those background arts had been used only for one episode.

The king said he would get Varian help, but who's helping him? Would Corona have therapists?

It could be Xavier the blacksmith.

I never set a high expectation of Varian's return in this season since I don't want to get disappointed.

user, I'm sorry to break it to you, but Polynesian culture/myth isn't that vast or complex. It's kinda the whole appeal. It's also fairly short, probably because their exploration period just kinda stopped, (top theory is they ran into another culture, likely the Chinese or Indians, got their asses whipped and went home.) And despite their vast area of influence, wherever you go the stories are almost exactly the same.

Don't think I'm denigrating Polynesian culture. These people mastered long-distance ocean travel with canoes and oral history.

She does her best to live up to her father's wishes to be heir apparent, and only leaves when still grieving for her grandmother and because it's for her island. She also stands up to two big monsters that could kill her easily without too much fear. Add bravery, respect and love for family and heritage to the list of character traits. Both Moana and Maui grow a bit as characters on the trip.

Funny enough, the Heart of Te Fiti is a source of plant growth and flourishing life, and in the Thanos Quest, the Gardener used the time stone to do something similar, causing plants to quickly grow to their prime, and preventing them from withering away from that point.

The problem with video game characters they are usually coming from entirely different worlds with entirely different skillsets. Very hard to balance any kind of narrative or story when most of them would break it constantly with their powers. With princesses Disney not only has the advantage of the rights but a relatively similar fantasy background for everyone.

It would still be difficult to make an animated series for Moana. Tangled allows for Rapunzel and her team to strike out on their own with a purpose, characters we've already met and know and new ones introduced. Moana was practically barren of characters aside from the island life and now that she's Chief of the Tribe she can't just go out on adventures solo to meet new people. She'd have to bring the whole group of people with her and we would end up with a bloated cast of background characters who are on the ocean who are trying to not always be on land despite the most varied things happening on land.

She can assign a deputy to take care of her community and go to the adventure with her closed friends in a small group.

It would make more sense to give the duty back to her father as he’s still alive and able to lead if they go that route instead of some other random person. Rapunzel isn’t the leader yet and has a mission to be on. Moana could be given tasks by the Ocean and any other deities but then that sort of dampens whatever came about from the movie. She longed for adventure and got it then returned to help her tribe strike out into the wider world again. If she doesn’t want to lead then that could be a negative (interesting) trait as she isn’t as naïve anymore and the duties given to her by higher powers would be a form of escapism for her. Is she doing these tasks entirely because the world would be out of balance or because she likes the thrill of adventure?
