say what you will about Walt and the stereotypes that made it into his cartoons, but i'll tell you this: Walt never to my knowledge produced a cartoon where Mickey beat him by yanking out his prosthetic.
Universal's post-Walt Oswald did it at least twice ("Alaska" seen here, and "College" where he also put on glasses so that hitting him back would be taboo.)
1. Pete spent the 1930s trying to rape Minnie. To her credit, she never cooperates even slightly, she kicks and screams and claws to the bitter end, because she knows that whatever he's going to do to her in public, her chances and options will only diminish when he gets her to the secondary location. 2. Guns won't save you because good people hesitate to use them. Smart, moral people know the finality of what they're about to do, and will unwittingly give the criminal an opening to regain the upper hand. Most IRL criminals won't bite the barrel off your gun, but they can snatch it away. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan spent most of Rush Hour practicing this move.
