So who do you think is on the way out? It's clear Theo is going to not only shake up management, but the core line up given how they've under preformed 2 years in a row now.
I'm guessing only Rizzo, Baez and Contreras are safe unless they pull off a major fleecing for one of them.
Kimbrel suffers from the curse known as 'Being the Cubs' Closer'
Camden Anderson
Eh it's almost as if it doesn't matter at this point whoever is pitching that's not named wick seems to choke. An all too familiar feeling
Adrian Clark
The Cubs bullpen is Russian Roulette in baseball form. You can only to hope Maddon doesn't spin the cylinder so it lands on the reliever that gives up hits and runs that day.
Darvish looks pretty damn good today, he deserves better than being stuck in shit congo
Elijah Sanders
Happ and Russell are totally expendable Almora and Schwarber are in a similar boat, young with not all of their potential realized - these guys could fetch a better return, but idk how much fat Theo wants to trim they *could* trade all of the above...and the outfield would be fucked. no way Heyward's contract can get moved. Bryant's a wild card tbf - huge piece with the safest value FO has a hard-on for Bote so he'll stay
pitching will be trickier to handle. you dont wanna bleed the staff dry - Hamels and a bunch of relievers are gone, Lester is suddenly declining so i cant imagine darvish, quints, or hendrix getting moved unless theres starters coming in return i'd love to see kimbrel traded but his value is nill right now
Blake Martin
KB is the best trade bait, and has refused a 200M extension. He's the first out the door. Not sure what trade value Schwarber has, but he's a top candidate. Not much for Almora and Happ. Adios, amigos!
Tyler Davis
>8 innings >96 pitches >12 strike outs Looks like he's getting a chance to close this game out.
I could see Baez coordinating with Happ to steal home in this situation.
Nathan Harris
i'm assuming they're not gonna bring back old Zobrist, and if they do, it'll be a one-year deal for a bench guy/veteran presence. maybe he can split time with Hoerner and Bote at 2nd?
Schwarber has some value in that he's a low-average, patient power hitter who *can* play outfield (he's not great but good arm and tonnes of improvement compared to 3 years ago). in this era of juiced balls, a guy with 40-HR potential can fetch some prospektz
idk why i'm so high on Almora - he managed to hit well (the .280 range) his first couple years and is a great fielder. is it his splits? Happ is a bust as it stands. Cubs could keep him as a platoon option, though I'd like to see him go anyway
forgot about descalso too, he's under contract for another year...
Ethan Morgan
I want to see him run thusly. Now that'd be magic.
Probably remembering last time Baez wanted to steal home, he was on base, but didn't want to take a big lead and they weren't able to do it. Plus you don't want to be the batter who screwed up. Of course he'd get great contact and it would be a heat seeker to a cardinal glove.
These fucking Chicago shitters have cost me £300 with this pathetic performance down the stretch. They deserve everything they get.
Justin Bailey
Get fucked. Your team got freebie WS. Hope you fucks never win again.
Kayden Sullivan
Cardinals fans are such a weird group, I've never seen a fanbase that was so simultaneously arrogant and hypersensitive. You're like dumber Red Sox fans.
Cubs literally fucking sucked your dick to fucking give you the division. But whatever, I don't got beef with you cardinals. It's these shitty cusb that just took it in the ass for 4 games straight.

>bringing up the past because you are getting btfo >even in the past you are trash. >even when you beat berds it only cashed you out one WS. >berds still won more WS recently than the cusb. >berds spanking you again in current events.

little bit of both but still the hipsters stuck around during the lean times...like now
hung in their guys the cubs are too talented not to figure this out...GO CUBS GO!!!
its been awhile for the cards and your excitement shows...without the ring it dont mean shit
John Collins
I can't remember a series this bad and a bunch of season losses this bad. 2009 sucked because they had expectation and failed but no where near as much as this sucked. So many gutpunches after gutpunches. Gg cards, props to you guys for kicking our asses. Hopefully it's a wakeup call, team hasn't been the same for a couple of years.
Welp, I was right about the Cubs either winning the world series or missing the playoffs.
Shame the Methinals are fairweathers and only show up when they're winning. And still haven't gotten over the 2015 NLDS.
We'll see how serious Theo is, if and when the Cubs get eliminated, if he fires Maddon, that'll show he wants to clean up immediately and signal major changes.
Yeah maybe. Schildt seemed to work wonders for you guys. I don't even think a lot of the fault was Maddon's this season though as much as it was his "circle of trust" failing consistently. A lack of forethought on regression from strop and cishek had a role in it and an over reliance on a closer that hasnt had a proper spring training. I think wick should have been the closer in september and move kimbrel to 8th for the time being until he can get it together. Probably. I think the first one to go is almora. He's made a lot of costly errors for a guy who's supposed to be good defensively
Julian Lewis
Fuck the gambler's fallacy THE PIRATES HAVE TO WIN EVENTUALLY...to keep this beautiful meme going
schildt really turned around the sloppy defense and baserunning, that shit is coachable and maddon shouldve had the cubs master all that in spring training. The cubs used to be smart on the bases and fantastic defensively so what went wrong?
Jackson Murphy
rizzo took charge of the club house and turn it into a zoo...its one of the reason why the road record was terrible...no discipline or punishment to correct terrible behavior
Evan Campbell
No clue desu. It's actually weird remembering the cubs of all teams were fundamentally sound. I guess that's when things just fall into place.
Henry Brooks
I'd have to say Bryant is the one most likely to go if a block buster trade can be made since he turned down the extension and has Boras as his agent.
If they can flip Happ and Almora that would probably happen. To everyone who mentioned Russell, Theo tried to shop him heavily last off season with no takers. Doubt it'll change. Schwarber, is a big maybe since Theo doesn't like to pawn off players he personally raised. Plus even though his defense has greatly improved, he'd only be offered anything from a baby league team. I'm hesitant about seeing them trade Caratini because they have zero depth at the catcher unless you really think they should keep Lucroy.
This year and last year saw real under performance by almost the entire team. You see sparks in trying to get stuff going from certain players, but as a whole, it's what's costs the team.
