I know Eli will make the Hall of Fame, but does he actually deserve it?
I know Eli will make the Hall of Fame, but does he actually deserve it?
>2x Super Bowl winner and MVP
>Gave us 18-1
The 2nd thing alone is HOF worthy
he wont make it, beating brady isn't enough
LOL yes it is and I fucking hate the giants
honestly, no. two great playoff runs is not enough for HoF induction in my opinion. he's ranged from mediocre to absolute dogshit beyond those 2 years
HoF voters care about muh regular season stats first and foremost i think
The hall of fame is a meme. If Kurt Warner made it in, ELIte will definitely get in
Nah, Eli will make it even though he's bang average otherwise
If he gets in for those two fluke runs then Edelman gets in for being the second best receiver in post season history.
>fluke runs
patsfag cope detected
Actually while typing the last post I just remembered that his name is Manning. He'll get in on name alone because fuck this corrupt mafia known as the HOF.
50.2% career win percentage (fifty point two)
If he didn't deserve it he wouldn't be going to make it, would he?
He is projected to finish his career with a losing win %, just think about that lads, is this the kind of guy you want in the hall of fame
Sometimes people win awards they don't deserve because the voters are retarded
e.g. Salah's Puskas award in 2018
If Big Ben makes it in, Eli should make it in
If hacks like Joe Namath and Terry Bradshaw got in then so should Eli
ok, why are quarterbacks so "overrated"? I mean ok, listening to the coach and knowing how to throw is one thing but guys like edelman or gronk are the ones doing exploits
The only reason you can shit post on Yea Forums right now is because of Eli. 18-1 will be in annals of NFL history forever.
Namath got in because of his balls out swagger and prediction for Super Bowl III and also because he was the first AFC qb to win the owl.
Bradshaw carried the Steelers their last two owls because their defense was nerfed, he deserves his spot in Canton. People don't know but he and Staubach were the original mobile qbs
Namath was a Top 5 QB of his era though
Stats were just worse across the board
not an argument since the voters decide who deserves it
No, Namath was always shit and didn't even come close to the top guys in his era. Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Dan Fouts, and even Bradshaw we're all way better than him
Because 50 million Egyptian fanboys voted for Salah he deserved to win the best goal of the year award?
Solid logic potatonigger
the wildcard giants also beat the 15-1 packers in 2011 it was a massive meme run and everyone knows it
If that's the way it's decided then obviously he deserved to win that particular award.
top 5 in a 12 team league isnt the same as top 5 in a 30 team league
Even then he wasn't even top 5 in his era
he really wasnt, I hear "he was the first to pass for 4000" a lot but it was in the much weaker AFL. He never broke 3000 after the merger and led each league in interceptions twice. Btw he wasnt even good in superbowl 3, the only reason he got MVP was that there was no way the voters were gonna give it to the black RB who actually deserved it
Yup, off the top of my head in no particular order:
>Starr
>Staubach
>Griese
>Tarkenton
>Stabler
>Unitas
They all played around the same time period be as Broadway Joe and were head and shoulders above Namath
List of NFL QB’s with multiple SB MVP’s:
1.Tom Brady
2. Joe Montana
3. Bart Starr
4. Terry Bradshaw
5. Eli Manning
The fact that this list is so small makes Eli deserving of going into the HoF. Add in the longevity of his career, passing yards, 18-1, and the Manning name and it’s not even a question.
>Btw he wasnt even good in superbowl 3, the only reason he got MVP was that there was no way the voters were gonna give it to the black RB who actually deserved it
Truth. Snell rushed like 30 times and averaged a 1st down every 3 carries. Literally carried that shitter, Namath just wasn't good
He’s gonna finish top 6 or 7 in yards and touchdowns. Combine that with two super bowl mvps and he walks into the hall.
Alright, I wasn't aware that Namath overlapped with some of those
Thought he was way older
The Football HOF is a joke. There's a rule that at least 6 players have to get inducted, so absolute shitters end up going in all the time. Like Kenny Stabler going in 34 years after he retired and a year after he died.
They're often the only white players on the team.
And yet it's more meaningful than both the NBA and MLB HoF
False. The MLB HOF is the most prestigious in the world.
I always thought he gets a spot because he is NFL royalty.
It's cultural, in the USA the most popular kid at a school is the school quarterback, the guy casuals, girls, and kids immediately recognize when watching is the qb. He gets the ball every play, he is high profile and easy to follow.
Because of this the sports (((media))) hypes qbs to the moon because it sells the most merch and tickets. They pretend the qb is the everything and anything of a football game even though Eli's Super Bowl came on the back of a legendary pass rush performance by the defense and the offense only put up 17 points, also we've seen Ray Lewis, Derrick Brooks and the Bucs D, the the Seahawks D vs the Broncos, Broncos D vs the Panthers, everybody but the qb on the Steelers vs the Seahawks, etc all carry average or inexperienced qbs who didn't need to do much to the super bowl. Even Brady's first super bowl came from a legendary defensive performance that held the greatest show on turf to 17 points including a pick six, while Brady's offense put up 13 points. Sure he made the clutch throws, but for 60 minutes what kept them in the game was dominant defense.
There is a wide gap between the reality on the field of a football game and how casual fans and the media talk about football. Guys like Belichick understand this which is why he puts so much stock into positions nobody cares about.
This guy gets it
Good post and not one of the Giants/Eli haters can reasonably answer it.
longevity is a retarded argument if he sucks for 90% of it
basically, if he wasnt called manning nobody at all would think he deserves HOF
If he sucks he wouldn't even be an nfl qb
No. His greatest victory was off a receiver grabbing one of his duck throws out of the air off his helmet while his o-line had pass rushers in a chokehold. He gets the sbmvp over Justin Tuck solely because of QB bias. Also his second ring was against a hobbled Patriots team that shouldnt have even been there.
Eli has been shit ever since and was a product of Coughlin's system. Does he deserve to be in the HOF? No. Will he get in? Maybe, NY media will push hard for it, but there are so many other QBs of that era more deserving he certainly won't get first ballot.
Yes and even if he doesn't make it, 18 and 1 plus the Helmet Catch will make him a legend and part of the NFL lore forever. Fuck I don't think that people can name half the players that are in the HOF while everyone knows what 18 and 1 means.
bruh, MLB is probably the most elite. NBA is a fuckin joke tho.
If they don't put in Jones now Eli will up with a sub-.500 winning percentage.
2 Super Bowl wins.
7th in yardage, almost 57,000.
8th in TD passes with 362
Warren Moon is in HOF with less than 50,000 yards and no Super bowl appearances.
The more he plays, the more he damages his chances. 2-3 years ago I would have said a lock but now with so many losing seasons and INT after INT I'm not so sure.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Mara instructed him to sit out for his own good once he gets to .500
but they'd probably trade eli if they roll with jones. look at all the dead qbs from this past weekend
Warren Moon is black
doesn't he have a lot of career INTs too?
He actually should have retired when his bro did
If not, he will always be one of Yea Forums gods for actually being the reason to make this board possible
why don't they cut ties with him. macadoo was right all along. and yet they STILL refuse to bench him
He has the numbers and he has the hardware Eli will 100% make the HOF
It's not like they would start winning if they benched him.
Now they're just protecting Jones who isn't ready to be a starter.
