The fact that this list is so small makes Eli deserving of going into the HoF. Add in the longevity of his career, passing yards, 18-1, and the Manning name and it’s not even a question.

It's cultural, in the USA the most popular kid at a school is the school quarterback, the guy casuals, girls, and kids immediately recognize when watching is the qb. He gets the ball every play, he is high profile and easy to follow.

They pretend the qb is the everything and anything of a football game even though Eli's Super Bowl came on the back of a legendary pass rush performance by the defense and the offense only put up 17 points, also we've seen Ray Lewis, Derrick Brooks and the Bucs D, the the Seahawks D vs the Broncos, Broncos D vs the Panthers, everybody but the qb on the Steelers vs the Seahawks, etc all carry average or inexperienced qbs who didn't need to do much to the super bowl. Even Brady's first super bowl came from a legendary defensive performance that held the greatest show on turf to 17 points including a pick six, while Brady's offense put up 13 points. Sure he made the clutch throws, but for 60 minutes what kept them in the game was dominant defense.

There is a wide gap between the reality on the field of a football game and how casual fans and the media talk about football. Guys like Belichick understand this which is why he puts so much stock into positions nobody cares about.
