Penn State is a huge college that has had a football team since 1887, they have great support because of it. They mostly play games in their regional confefence, and for example played cross-state rivals Pitt yesterday. It's a pretty big deal for areas that have no professional sports team (hence why there's more soul in college football).

The difference is that in college football, if you lose more than one game, your championship dreams are done. There are so many teams, that most weeks there's at least a few matchups between good teams. Winner goes on, loser has to try to climb back into contention.

Plus even with the games that shouldn't be close, we're talking about 20 year olds. Anything can happen. A weird night in West Lafayette, Indiana can end in the underdogs storming the field and one of the favorites to play for a national championship having their dreams end.

I will say this that compared to every other American sporting organization, College Football is easily the most soulful. The whole BURGERS CLAP meme is from NFL games. College football has the fight songs that fans sing in unison, as well as rivalries that date back to the early 1900’s as well as stadiums that date back over 100 years. Plus you have more pride for the school you attended than you do for some corporation that is gifted to your city that can leave in a year if attendance gets low. Tailgates are always great fun with good food and plenty of alcohol and thots. Plus rushing the field is an absolutely kino and unmatched experience.
