Happenings 1/2: Bizarro /cyc/ is back on menu, boys! Unassuming from the profile, this stage turned out absolutely CUHRAZY. Strong crosswinds from the start smelled like opportunity and DQS seized it, forming huge breakaway of 46 riders with 7 out 8 DQS guys present (except Richeze, lmaoing at that shitter). The main happening was however that Movistar also managed to delegate half of their team, including our guy, our man, our hero Quintana. Due to positioning mistake from Roglic, Jumbo-Pissma and the rest of GC teams then proceeded to let this monstrous breakaway ride away full gas to the advantage of more than 5 minutes. With 50 km to go, rest of Movistar and Valverde back in peloton cranked up their trademark galaxy brain tactics and frantically tried to catch breakaway while Movistart with Quintana at cabeza worked to ride away. For a while that let group maillot rojo to gain a minute, but Movistar efforts significantly reduced its numbers. Roglic was completely alone, but hardly isolated as he comfortably wheelsucked behind Boomberde. Later in interviews, Valverde damage controlled it as an attempt to isolate Roglic that was ultimately foiled by Astana.
Happenings 2/2: Now that breakaway had numbers in their favor, they again gained 5+ minutes. At the last 2 kms, DQS played their cards perfectly with Stybar attacking first. He was reeled back and S.Bennett made his move to bridge him too early, blowing his fuse in process. Big dick Phil on the other hand measured his efforts well and outsprinted him to the finish line. With 5:19 advantage on GC leader group, Quintana's transformation to breakaway specialist propelled him to the second place, with 24 second ahead of SEETHING Boomberde. Lesser GC guys, who were able to ride in breakaway, also gained traction. Notably, Knox rised to the top 10, and now sits 8th at +8:03, another success for DQS. Kelderman up to 6th, Teuns up to 10th. On the other hand, Edet and Pernsteiner lost 23 minutes and yeeted out of contention. Valverde, Pogacar and Lopez down one place, Majka down by two, Roglic remains unshaken. MAL then was additionally penalted 10 seconds for "handslinging".
Average speed of this 220km stage was whooping 50.63 km/h (!!!) Apparently, it's a record breaking for the race over 200 km.
Also today: Fraud Der Poel Tour of Britain, Stage 6 (ITT) Pershore - Pershore 14.4 km
Yesterday, MVDP was exposed not only by big baby Groenewegen, but also by Trentin who took his GC lead back by 3 seconds. Now, we're going to find out just how good is MVDP's ITT. The man himself said he didn't touch TT bike in 3 years.
7th highest in the uci ranking this season, so feel free to apologize. Only Alaphilippe, Valverde, Fuglsang, Roglic, Bernal and Pinot ahead of him. So objectively the best sprinter this season.

Yes, almost two and a half hour (not counting the the times when I had to wait at the junction because of traffic...), had some nasty short climbs as well, but still only about 500 m elevation gain.
Matthew Gonzalez
Okay sorry, but Lopez is not the brightest guy, is he?
He switched to more powerful motör to try and keep up with the new clean generation of ski jumpers.
Ryan Johnson
tbf movistar has tried to help valverde more than can'tana, that being said it's not like their tactics are extremely good for valverde either agreed, but the reason they are 2nd and 3rd isn't movistar
Xavier Smith

Kinda funny how the ones where the favourites won (Roglic and Bernal) were the most fun and the one where a literal domestique won (Carapaz) the most boring
