Didn't he only score against farmer teams and dissapear in big games? It's basically the same shit then.

fuck off zoomer

I think a trophy count is in order.

I'm genuinely curious, can't help that I'm not an old shit like yourself

Fergusons biggest mistake was taking him off the striker role, he would probably still be playing for United or Everton if that was the case

decent at club level, disasterously bad for his country and already surpassed by kane for england

>ynr rooney's going to derby in january

He was good technically. However he had fitness issues. The coaches honestly let him down, they should have forced him to lose weight or not play at all

Only us privileged few know what it was like under the Age of Rooney. Maybe your grandfather will sit you on his knee one day and tell you all about His exploits.

>even asking this question

The fire crackles as the children gasp in awe. Snow begins to fall outside the window the your tale comes to an end, but the youngsters are still thirsty for more. 'Tell us about the two he scored against Andorra again Grandpapa' one child begs. 'No, no! The legendary brace vs Kazakhstan!' implores another. The oldest boy pipes up. 'Be quiet you two, Grandad tells those ones all the time. Go on, tell us the one you promised us last time - the penalty vs Slovenia...Grandad..G-Grandad?'
The rocking chair creaks to a halt. A serene expression is on your face and all of Rooney's goals flash before your eyes in your final moments as the children embrace you. His one World Cup goal, The legendary double in Minsk. That tap in against Liechenstien. they know whats happening and are scared, but calm.
The last thing you hear as you slide into the black warmth of death is the youngest boy - old beyond his years, a football fanatic who spends every free moment outside kicking his battered leather ball against the wall 'Dont be sad, he lived a hell of a life...in the age of Rooney.'

le run about and curse at the ref man

he was always one of my highest rated players in fifa

So.. like messi?

I'm better than both of them to be honest.

Rooney was pretty elite in club football starting with the 2009-10 season and ending with the 2011 CL final. When he added heading to his game, scored that overhead kick against City, and delivered the 2011 EPL basically by himself. That was the only time he ever deserved the title of possibly world class because he was basically unplayable combining both 9 and 10 roles.

His form was meh in 2011-12 and by 2012-13 he was fat dogshit who'd lost his pace.

It looks even worse how badly he tapered off when put next to Ronaldo who's the same age as Rppmey.

Ah yes the famous shinner

I'm about 10 years younger than rooney but what was impressive is that he had been consistent for years, since he was in his late teens...
lmao I'm feeling like a proper boomer right now but once I realized he had been playing at elite levels for 10 years and he was still 28-29 and it blew my mind

jesus....

Absolutely! He was fucking great

Didn't he quit school to play football make sense he can hardly speak english? Post more rooney tweets.

What is unclear about those tweets

Attached: Image.jpg (750x532, 49K)

What would rooney do if he couldn't play football?

Sell pirate DVDs down the markets

Binman or probably join a circus freak show

Rooney was a better player than Kane overall, but is a worse striker. Kane has all the qualities of the modern number 9 (good with both feet, good in the air, good distribution, strong, great engine etc..) Rooney was a different type of player. He's seen as a meme on this board, but he was a genuine world class number 9 + 10 rolled into one. Maybe not as specialised at striker compared to other strikers of his era (Drogba, Eto'o), but much more versatile.

the cringiest shit of all time was seeing him as cdm at euro2016
like what were they thinking

One of the things that I feel put a blemish on his career was that managers kept playing him in stupid positions. He was always played in other positions to accommodate other players (Ronaldo, Tevez, Berbatov, Hernandez, Van Persie, Welbeck). Whenever he was the main man he would produce 20-30 goals a season.

He's right.

jesus....

For all the wrongs Rooney had with his fitness and never holding down the striker role for more than a season them getting shipped out to the left for Ronaldo, rvp etc, to say he only ended up 52 goals away from shearers prem record shows his goat status

Apart from 15/16 where he was shit

Drunk Gazza was better than Prime Kane

“Known to Merseyside Police” on dole

Probably sell cocaine. No jokes.

His brother was at a festival and was casing me and my mates for a line so we gave him a big bump of ketamine instead and left him to it.

He was great as a power and strength above all striker. Decent playmaker at his prime.

Gang member or a construction worker

>better than Kane
lol how is this even a real question?

He scored way more blooters than Kane easily. But you already know how do English strikers perform out of the island, so it's the same shit pretty much.

Kane has 25 goals in 40 games for England. Rooney has 53 goals in 120 games. So, if we match it up, Kane should end his England career with 75 goals. Which would be pretty fucking good. I don't think he will, I think he'll get to 50 odd maybe and retire at 32 from England.

He can’t speak English because he’s scouse

rooney was never THAT good. he was one of those players who seemed like a constant work-in-progress. until his breakout in lets say, 09-10, he was serviceable but hardly the best player for united. surrounded by incredible talent for years. his last season with fergie he was outdone by Van Persie. not the best striker of his generation, not the best english player either, not even in a top 11 for United I'd say. his great seasons made him seem better than he was but he was fucking atrocious for england and fell apart when fergie left. ibra, van persie, were better than him. rooney was only named to the best team three times while kane already has been named 4 times before he's 26

+

Rooney was in the discussion for best player in the world for a good 3 or so years. Unquestionably an excellent player, he just declined quickly. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about because you clearly never watched him in his prime

>American football takes

I can see why you are mocked 24/7

Definitely a wife abusing construction worker. No doubts in my head.

>3 or so years
no he wasn't
I watched him in his prime and he was vastly, vastly overrated.
ronaldo, messi, ibra were all better during rooney's "prime". rooney's prime was about one season and then the fallout of that season where he did alright.
from 2007 to 2010 he wasn't even in the conversation except from england fans who tried to inject their own player into the discussion. he was a fergie baby and once that team dried up he was exposed as mediocre. from 2005 to 2012 he scored one goal outside of qualification or friendlies, against ukraine in a tournament where they only qualified as hosts.
meanwhile xavi, iniesta, and torres won two euros and a world cup, while messi and ronaldo were compteting for the right to be called best in the world. acting as if rooney was even close to those two is fucking delusional. don't even mention the breakdown england had in 2010 or the breakdown united had in 2012
>rating rooney
>south africa
weren't you even there in 2010? acting as if this isn't true. everyone who isn't a england dick sucking simpleton knows he wasn't that good

Rooney is massively overrated he was never world class at all.

ah yes, my personal favorite Wayne Rooney tweet

Still seething about last night jock?

He's right.

Kane is better than Rooney ever was for England. Roondog performed way better at club level though, Kane will never match his trophy haul.

Damn...

jesus...

He's right

jesus...

Prime Rooney was 3rd best player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.

>ibra
You're one of those cringy faggots aren't you?

>american reading ability

Where did i say he was good in 2010. I made no reference to when i thought he was a world class player.

In his prime he was world class. I dont know what rooney did to you, maybe knocked your favourite team out of some competition all those years ago. You seem really mad

>was prime Rooney better than Kane
Vastly. And Rooney is still currently better than Kane, King of Penalties.

Yes, yes, but who's the better corner taker? We were all told that Kane has a "special something" when taking a corner.

Rooney is England's top scorer with 53 goals to Kane's 25 (about 9 of which are penalties)

So not just yet

I ignore all American posts.

Who even puts Kane above this lad just because the mouth breather had like 3 seasons with some goals and integrated into England's squad better? Rooney was overhyped, but he was still amazing in his prime. Kane can clean Higuain, Lewa, Salah, Suarez, Benzema's shoes. Rooney would outplay them all at his and their relative peak. Clearly all you needed to do was watch them play (not in the Euro 16)

brehs

Revisionism in this thread is pretty hilarious. I'm not sure if it's lingering ABUs with some sort of bitter PTSD from Fergie's days or if it's just a bunch of zoomers larping as "oldfags"... But Kane is not and probably will not ever be truly comparable to Rooney. It's kind of like trying to compare Defoe to Suarez. They are simply in different brackets. Rooney is arguably the best overall player to come out of Utd in the last 15 years - a period of time where they completely dominated as well as relinquished their throne. People forget that he was the more exciting prospect originally compared to Ronaldo when they were both first at the club (though their careers clearly did not continue on those trajectories). He was the best premier league player at his respective peak along with one of the very best in the world. A very selfless player in the long run too, which only make his monstrous stats all the more impressive since they would perhaps be even (or much) higher with consistent coaching to stay fit and a stronger tendency to be selfish.

But anyway watch all these britbong goblins clamber out of the woodwork to start throwing stale pasta about.

for some time rooney was better than ronaldo and absolutely in discussion for the best player in the world

>this mong is about to be a MANAGER for derby
who thought this would be a good idea?

wew lad

Kane is way better than Rooney so far in his career and it's not even remotely close.

>Rooney: 183 league goals in 393 games, mostly for the richest team in all of soccer, a team that dominated the Premier League starting more than a decade before he joined them and about a decade after
>Kane: 128 league goals in 182 games, all for a team that was struggling to even nail down a Europa League spot before he showed up

Rooney is massively overrated because he plays for a team that a lot of English people like and a lot of English pundits used to play for so he gets jerked off like crazy for putting up pedestrian numbers for a team that habitually steamrollered everyone they came actoss.

*came across

He's not, he's only going to be a coach

Kane is better

Someone post it

>rating kane

You can pin point the plebs who don't understand football by them saying Rooney was world class

t. psychopath

You can pin point the plebs who don't understand the value of a player who can score 20+ goals a season and is adaptable enough to play anywhere amongst the front line at an elite level for a club that surrounded him with players like Cleverley, Anderson and Hernandez.
