Happenings: After rather unusual neutral start at football stadium, stage kicked off with quite sizeable breakaway. With ~60 km to go, Saez of Euskadi rode solo from the group. At the time, break had almost 9 minutes on peloton. At 30 km to go Astana express train started paced the peloton and at the foot of Machucos the gap withered to less than 3 minutes. The start of the climbed was way too steep for Saez and breakaway group quickly reached him, but it didn't matter anyway because Astana efforts brought all GC contenders right in time for decisive battle. Quintana attacked early, but could stay clear off the group. Meanwhile, Roglic and Pogacar formed Slovenian alliance. Pogocar with Roglic on his wheel attacked right after Quintana was caught with 3.2 km to go. Their brutal pace decimated group at steepest part of the climb. Only Valverde could follow Slovenian duo but next steep ramp proved to be deadly even for him. Pogocar was rewarded for his generous help with stage win and Roglic strengthened his lead in GC. Ironically, even though Astana worked so hard to set their captain for attack, Lopez lost the most out of GC contenders, conceding more than a minute to Roglic and losing white jersey to Pogocar. Significant changes in GC.
perfect opportunity to remind you all that the /cyc/ memeball divegrass team has their final group stage match of the ag league tomorrow at 8pm Euro time.
we will go up against a Seinfeld team and a win sees us through to the knockouts-
probably early next year there will be another tournament where /cyc/ will compete going up agait other generals/ Yea Forums related teams.
if you have any ideas to improve the teams roster post them
Primož Roglič >start cycling at 22 >have ok results but nothing out the ordinary >this season blow everyone out of the water >currently leads Vuelta, has lead Giro for a while this year until his injury Luka Mezgec >be shit for 5 years >all of a sudden be one of the best sprinters this season Tadej Pogačar >20 years old >1st season as a pro >already wining stages at the grand tour and is in the running potentially to win it Yeah surely this isn't speciousness at all.

any of you guys ever gone on cycling holiday in the pyrenees? plannnig to go for a week
Parker Peterson
go the alps instead friendo
Luis Gomez
already went to the swiss alps this summer. never been to the pyrenees
Parker Hughes
go to slovenia
Xavier Powell
Yeah written language doesn't help much with pronunciation and emphasis on syllables. Gotta learn how to pronounce words one by one, there aren't any shortcuts... Even slovenes pronounce many words wrong (e.g. pronouncing L instead of V and vice versa) and then other slovenes laugh at them.
Noah Wilson
cute, CUTE!
Cameron Parker
enjoy your flat Spain travel ad stages, wagie meanwhile only we true cycling fans will get to watch the actual fireworks in real time
Only been to Majorca, want to do the Alps and Pyrenees next.
John Morales
A shame I couldn't watch yesterday's stage sounds pretty exciting.
Xavier Torres
E can be pronounced as 3 different sounds but it's always written as e. O can be pronounced as two different sounds, and it's always written as o. Also we don't mark accent, even though our language does not have fixed stress order like spanish, for example. Also V and L can be pronounced as W or U sometimes for some reason.
James Robinson
Flat stages are rest days for us. Can't be watching 21 stages. Save energy for tomorrow
Hunter Roberts
I always avoid reading the news and just watch it later on eurosport player. Watching it in the evening after a day of work may actually be more comfy than watching it live.
Is Europe the Disneyland of the world. Surely there is no better place than the continent of Europe. All you Europeans that post here, are you happy to live in your beautiful countries?
Well Finland is a really beautiful country but I'm so fed up of the commie boomers in charge of this country that I'm actively looking for jobs in central Europe.
Benjamin Johnson
>oh and the race is really kicking off here! let's first go to an ad break where we generically advertise other sports on eurosport to people already viewing eurosport
Hating every single day of life in the dreary flatlands.
Probably would hate it elsewhere even more though.

You got a slightly longer version? I want to see his reaction
Logan Thompson
Her. It's from Boels Ladies Tour. It was only short clip in recap sadly.
Tyler Rivera
Every country has it`s problems but Europe as a whole looks very comfy. I wish my parents never migrated from Germany. I think I would of been happier enjoying European way of life.
Bentley Sanchez
never mind, found it. and it's Van Vleuten no less
you "would of" still been a depressed brainlet probably
Isaac Parker
Definitely. I've lived in UK, US, and Germany on top of Finland and they all definitely have their own pros and cons. Overall Europe really is amazing, especially central Europe.
Bennett had 4.5 and Ewan same as the second favourite behind Ackermann lol.

>Habour of the well of dead women
Hunter Hill
based, the only good ineos rider is a dead ineos rider
Wish shimano would ride their car straight into brailsford and sent his car off the fucking mountain into the ravine, where vultures pick on the bloody remains of that bald cunt
>After dropping into the valley beyond, the riders soon start to ascend the intriguingly named Puerto del Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas, which has nothing to do with dead women but is actually a mistranslation into Castilian Spanish of an Asturian phrase describing local rock formations. Stupid Spaniards

Lopez lost 20 seconds and quintana two minutes because Roglic got timed with the 2nd group. And they were barely ahead of the crash and diddnt go full gas. That cant be right.
Liam Perry
>it's a sprinter and GC contender try to banter episode
see what if they consider the first group ahead of the crash as racing and they got timed because they couldnt hold contact with the sprinters. + has someone checked the vuelta book if todays stage is classified as sprinters stage with the last hill and slighty uphill finish
Boomer Hagen was still there and sprinted to 11th place. Why don't these washed up frauds like him and Cavendish just quit or go full on domestique. Embarrassing.
That would be very stupid. Spanish are just lazy as always and will update it later
Noah Russell
someone on cyclingnews says Fuglsangs attack was just a protest against motos in front of the peleton
William Johnson
Docker. Pretty based and Maaskantjepilled if you ask me
>>After dropping into the valley beyond, the riders soon start to ascend the intriguingly named Puerto del Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas, which has nothing to do with dead women but is actually a mistranslation into Castilian Spanish of an Asturian phrase describing local rock formations. >Stupid Spaniards
But it does have to do with dead women: the rocks look like the outline of lying women.
Its been lighting up a lot since that publication where they determined the aero advantages of having a moto in front.
>>A cyclist riding two and half metres behind a motorbike experiences a 48 per cent reduction in drag, equating to more than two seconds gained for every ten seconds, while a cyclist riding 30 metres behind a motorbike has their drag reduced by 12 per cent gaining 2.6 seconds with every passing minute. As the distance between the motorbike and cyclist increases the advantage becomes smaller, but even when the motorbike is 50 metres away a seven per cent reduction in drag is still experienced, which equates to a gain of 1.4 seconds per minute.
You see them closer than 30m quite often so the whining is justified desu, it has a huge impact on the race.
James Harris
there still no way around it if we want normal footage so that point is moot
Cameron Cooper
BREAKING NEWS: Kelderman crashed too
Zachary Adams
True, but they could have some way of having a standard distance where the moto should be at, so the advantage gotten is always the same.
William Anderson
every damn time
Nathan Johnson
I'd say just learn to use it to your advantage just like other factors in race.
Grayson Allen
Do you really think that its possible for a crash to happen in a peloton with Kelderman without him being involved in it? Come on now.
Jack Nelson
le "can't superdomestique for dumoulin like planned because of an injury from a crash" man does it again
Kevin Mitchell
The problem is that the riders have no control over it, its all up to the moto rider and how close he decides to ride. He can even decide to ride a few meters closer when his favourite rider is in the group.
Julian Brooks
>it's another french moto is close to french rider episode
Easton Allen
LMAO MAL now has same time but Quintana is still at +1.53 >Sorry Nairo but he need Boomerverde on the podium
Nicholas Johnson
lmao, why?
Ian Garcia
Yes, the solo break from Allahflip in the Tour is a great example of that, he was helped so much by the motos.
Brandon Cruz
dont know you could see Lopez was the last rider to escape the crash on the left. i diddnt spot nairo
Xavier White
Wasn't the crash even within 1 km, shouldn't the GC guys be all timed the same?
>"After a complex review of the judges, due to the large number of runners affected, @NairoQuinCo has received the same time as the winner of the Oviedo stage in # LaVuelta19. It will continue 5th overall, 3'33 "from Primoz Roglic (TJV)." i wonder why others like de gent still got +1.53
Adam Scott
Well, not much more to say. I am not willing to invest into a road bike. I am done with noob gains, which is 30 km/h avg. for an up to 2 hour ride with little elevation.
I have done some real climbing last week, which involved round about 1300 m altitude gain in total, 2 category 3 climbs, and I felt like I was dying.
iirc according to UCI rules you have to report to the officials after finishing if you were affected by a crash within 3 km. For people who aren't in the GC battle it doesn't matter what time they're given so they might not bother.
Ryan Cooper
Since just today. I was 6th yesterday I think. Have both Bennet and Van der Sande so that helped for today, and I also have Rogla and Pogi so things are looking up for Bjarne.
