AJ's problem is lack of skill/experience, not speed. Ruiz tanked some HUGE shots from him in their first to steadily throw his weight against him up close and beat him into submission. Sure, AJ's style depends a lot on his long reach, but he's not really an outboxer by any means. I just can't see how slimming down a ton to slightly speed up will help him in a fight that will more than likely be fought at close to mid range against a guy with as strong a chin and as massive a center of gravity as Ruiz.

I don't know how old you are but when he started nobody was doing that aside from maybe maxboxing.com. It was the dawn of the youtube scene and hadn't been done before. Boxing gyms are pretty grimey and unfriendly places so its not just so easy to walk in and start pointing a camera at people and expect them to talk.
