And?

That's a friendly. You could have at least posted when Tele Santana defeated both Barça and Milan in an official game. Fucking pleb

Just teaching some history to the boomers here
youtube.com/watch?v=3GsxjHe07LQ

Still, a south american club winning 4-1 against barcelona even on a friendly it's unimaginable now.

Milan eternally BTFO by Sao Paulo and Velez in the 90s.

Carlos Bianchi coached that Velez team right? The man achieved everything in sudaca footy

Based.

Now what (diving) could have possibly (corruption) happened to cause such a disparity.

Yes. Something many don't know is that Bianchi is one of the greatest goalscorers of the Argentine First Division. With 121 goals.
His scoring average is also insanely good at around 0.75.
Shame that he went to play in the irrelevant French league...

Europe modernized (bringing science and improving players physics) fast and also they have more money etc.

BTFO REAL MADRID

Ironically, throughout the 60s and 70s all we heard from Northern European teams like Celtic, Liverpool and once Milan was that "southamericans play too rough".
I won't deny 60s Estudiantes de la Plata wasn't a gang of violent psychos (they were put in jail for days after what the did to Milan, pic related) but it sounds funny now that people from those same countries try to call us divers.

And then fucking airplanes were mass produced. Big fucking deal, it's only because they couldn't escape their favelas.

Flamengo vs Liverpool is the best one. Many cases like Corinthians in 2012 and Internacional in 2006 can be a fluke. I mean Chelsea and Barcelona can also lose against Brighton or Granada. But in 1981 it was no fluke. Flamengo outperformed Liverpool in literally everything. Fantastic performance. Zico is top 20 of all time

Champions League should have a few wildcards for South American teams desu

This youtube.com/watch?v=IwymO6Moupg

>last world cup won by south america was 2002
What went wrong?

And up until the 40s Argentina had a similar per capita gdp to the USA.

We really fucked you guys and anything that happens to us socially is much deserved and should be celebrated by every third worlder since Mao Zedong came to power

1985 was way better.
>David vs Goliath
>AAA was such a small club, not even 1000 people could travel to Tokyo
>both teams playing offensive
>great goals
>several future world champions playing, also european champions

The late 90s might be a bit of a stretch, but I don't think this statement is controversial. Most of South America's best players were in Europe around the mid 90s. However, even if every player was stuck in their home continent, Europe would be noticeably stronger for the last 10 years or so.

Literally no one from SA has posted political drama itt, yet here comes the Mutt doing it, just to whine about "muh /pol/ on Spee" in the future.

>implying there's not a banner on this page RIGHT NOW with a cartoon of a german fucking a brazilian and "7-1" flashing

Literally look at all vids i posted.
Boca jrns crushing real on 2000
vasco 3-1 man utd
sao paulo 3 0 real madrid 96
etc

we'll always have the talent and we'll won in again

>we'll won
*win

Yes but European teams didn't give a fuck about the Intercontinental Cup by this point because the Champions League was becoming so lucrative and everyone knew that the best South Americans were in Europe anyway so it was a pointless competition.

They still dont care today but you dont see us winning anymore

As I said in my earlier post, the gap has grown more in recent years. Now it's not just the best South Americans that come to Europe, but pretty much anyone halfway decent comes over here too. Also, as others have pointed out, the last time the World Cup was won by a South American team was 2002. So European teams taking it easy in the 90s and 00s would get beat by a South American team really trying, but now the European team is too good even when they're treating it like a friendly.

I can't wait to see Jesus this year outplay Liverpoor once again like we did in 1981.

Thats one weak flex right there, it only goes to show southamerica couldnt keep up with the times anymore

Kinda hypocritical since the same excuse is used to justify 80s dominance of CONMEBOL over UEFA.
>we did not care lol
And the again in the 60s when 6 of the 10 finals were won by southamerican teams
>"oh no one cared about that new friendly trophy back then"
>even tho every team fielded their best players...

Larry David looked based in the 70's

I don't know about the 80s and before that, I just assume Europe has never cared much about this competition but cares even less than ever now. But I would also assume that prior to the mass movement of players from South America to Europe that it was roughly equal with periods of dominance either way. I just don't fucking care at all though and neither does anyone else in Europe. It's not an attempt to justify losing, it's a genuine do not give a fuck whatsoever. No one in Europe wants to watch Liverpool against whoever the fuck won the sudaca champions league, we want to watch Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, etc play each other.

Fair enough, though I will say that is a predominately Anglo and Dutch feeling.
Real Madrid packed its stadium and celebrated the first edition as "World Championship".
youtube.com/watch?v=G-HyElkIytM

Eusebio's Benfica also stacked full its stadium and played all its best players against Peñarol and Santos.
Milan and Inter also did the same, went to win with all their best players.

It was only when Celtic and Manchester United had bad experiences with Racing and Estudiantes that the Cup acquired a bad rep.

Euros will only care about the CWC again when Fifa manage to implement the new version of it in 2021, where they will play with other European winners of the CL as well.
I just wish it was at least every 2 years.

Haha no, it'll still be irrelevant. Have you not heard Europeans complaining about it already? No one in Europe wants it because the European teams that would be in it and inevitably dominate it would've already played each other in the CL knockouts in the prior months.

Caring or not caring is irrelevant when it comes to discussing quality.
they might have not played with their most intense mode on, but alot of european teams were still there, with full squad, and losing.

I could bet that once the competition starts, you guys will care because you will not want to lose to other Euro teams. There will be 8 European Teams I heard, most of them CL winners in previous years.

I’m just giving and educated answer as to why all the best players went to Europe. Sorry I didn’t just go “uhhh idk NIGGER” like you expect my flag to do

If it is money the question.
The Libertadores has always been more profitable than the old Toyota Cup or the new FIFA CWC.
This year the winner will collect 12.000.000 dollars just by wining the final. Not counting the millions paid on every other stage.

Yet the CWC it is still a very important trophy for anyone down here.

>And up until the 40s Argentina had a similar per capita gdp to the USA.
I find this to be impossible to believe, US was funding everybody during the WWII, and were loaded as shit. If Argentina had the same GDP they would have had alot more influence.
But yes you fucked us over give gibs

They may care a bit more, but it'll still be a glorified pre-season tournament. The money is in Europe and there's no money in this competition so it will be an irrelevance. This isn't an attempt to put you down, I'm trying to make it as clear as possible, this is just how it is now and there's no going back on it as long as the paradigm persists.
Caring is at the root of it. It's like making a big deal out of a pre-season friendly result when everyone knows it means jack shit. You can make all the points you want about lineups and fans etc, but you can't reasonably assume the team gave a shit, in fact the evidence is to the contrary, so it's probably best to just not talk about it.

I guess Anthony Joshua is still Heavyweight champion because he "didn't care" during the fight, following that impecable british logic
Football is a sport just like any other, is not because part of the public don't see South American teams as worthy opponents that World Club Cup shouldn't happen, especially when there are so many precedents of >our teams beating CL champions.
You can act high and mighty as much as you like, but your best players come from here, I bet even our the "second unit" that remained in the continent can take down alot of PL teams.

Argentina also had like 1/50 the population and piss poor planning with too many Fascists to get involved without getting crushed by the growing American giant

I miss old football bros

7 (SETE) - 1 (UM)

And then your economies crashed, and now all your teams are Swiss league tier.
