I agree, the dark gun metal and red livery was really cool, and remember that the McLaren logo has had a red chevron / swoosh in it for decades, so I think the argument that the red colouring was purely sponsor determined doesn't make sense.
The new orange/blue is pretty cool and I do like it but it does feel a bit weird when McLaren have used red for decades, and orange was only used for a couple of years a long time ago.

I noticed that the Hondas have a "blown diffuser style" sound when coming off the throttle. sounded really nice! but in general I was really disappointed with the sound of F1. I always thought people were exaggerating when saying that they are silent nowadays, but everything they say is true. I have a friend who went to an F1 race in 2016 or something and he said they were really loud, which I said I was surprised at because I explained to him they had these new engines which were apparently quiet. He won't have seen F1 with old engines though so I guess he would have had nothing to compare it to.
Kvyat was using the new Gen 4 Honda engine. Albon was using an old Gen 2, but took the grid pen now to have new engine in his pool for Monza without starting from back there.
Dumb question. Why not take 10 engines in Australia and start from back in Australia but have 10 new engines to use thru the season and run them hard each race?
