>In all fairness Hamilton deserved to win that year more than Cuckberg. Actually, he didn't. He had a massive engine advantage in 2016 thanks to that "creative interpretation" of grid-penalty rules by Mercedes at Spa. And played dirty multiple times. He deserved shit in 2016.
Also, by your metrics, Rosberg should have won 2014 then.

>PR razzmatazz holds that Ayrton Senna was the greatest of his era and this is repeated by many commentators who do not know their history. It is repeated because it is an easy label which requires no effort to question. In the day, fans were equally divided between Prost and Senna and the choice usually came down to the temperament of the fan. >I know that a majority of experienced commentators at the time veered towards Prost, while denying Senna nothing. It was a close run thing, but Prost had it among the experts. ... >Pub debates are never dull when knowledgeable people are involved, but so much that passes for Formula One knowledge is PR bullshit. I saw a TV show recently that claimed that Fangio's nickname was 'maestro'. That is bollocks, his nickname was El Chueco, or 'bandy legs' from the days when he played football as a youngster. In 1999, Eddie Irvine nearly won the WDC - he was just two points off Hakkinen. This was the year Schumacher broke his leg and was away for most of the season. Which just shows what a Ferrari driver at that time could achieve when the team was behind them. Ferrari at the time notoriously favoured a single driver at the expense of the other, as we saw with team orders at Barrichello's expense. So that's the difference with the modern Mercedes team, where Hamilton and Rosberg were actually treated as equals and allowed to race.
Not to mention that Schumacher got comprehensively beaten by Rosberg in each of his three return seasons. Ouch.
Does F# need more deaths so the reaction is more subdued going forward?
Aaron Carter
I can't believe they are still racing. A human died because of this dangerous sport. When something like this happens you need to evaluate what happened and change the sport in order to prevent disasters like this.
People should really ask themselves if this 2 hour-long entertaining race should have priority over potential lives that can be lost. Come on people wake the fuck up.
If Correa wouldn't have punted in Hubert, but instead launched his car over into the woods, would he be a real racing driver?
Dominic Adams
Point is that he was a carbabby who didn't have opposition because his team ordered his teammate to lose for his benefit.
Not denying that Hamilton is a carbabby of course. He basically has been since 2014. But he at least had to race his teammate.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. >notoriously favoured a single driver at the expense of the other ah yes, the old team order boogeyman. Ferrari wasn't the first, Ferrari wasn't the last. Look at what treating drivers equally got Williams and McLaren between 2000 and 2007. >So that's the difference with the modern Mercedes team Or McLaren and Williams in the 80s and 00s? >Not to mention that Schumacher got comprehensively beaten by Rosberg in each of his three return seasons Schumacher was on the decline and Rosberg was rising up. At the time, people didn't know how good Rosberg was. Looking back now, with Rosberg instantly challenging Hamilton, it's safe to say Michael still had pace between 2010 and 2012, but his diminishing race craft and lack of suitable material did make for an underwhelming comeback. >Point is that he was a carbabby who doesn't remember how successful Benetton was in 1996? same engine supplier, same designer, same technical staff. Ofcourse it's sad but those guys choose to move themselves at breakneck speeds in a little box on wheels, something is bound to happen. You can think about is it worth for the entertainment but it's a competition with major risks and that is part of the charm. When an accident like this happens it's just a reminder that it is inherently dangerous and the only real solution is to stop it alltogether but the people who are passionate about racing don't want that. It's also about the heroism of guys putting their lives on the line
Connor Campbell

>1999 was the only season this happened to the Ferrari number 2, so 'a Ferrari driver' is Eddie in 1999. Not sure what point you're trying to make here. Surely the point should be clear - if Irvine had been the favoured driver then he would most likely have won championships. >ah yes, the old team order boogeyman. Ferrari wasn't the first, Ferrari wasn't the last. Look at what treating drivers equally got Williams and McLaren between 2000 and 2007. I'm not saying they were the first, I'm just saying Hamilton and Rosberg were allowed to race fairly, whereas Barrichello was ordered to sacrifice races for Schumacher, even early in the season when there was still everything to play for. >who doesn't remember how successful Benetton was in 1996? same engine supplier, same designer, same technical staff.
