Hs football general /hsfbg/

Are you going to a game tonight? It’s week 0 in Texas, where football is king. Last night Katy took care of North Shore on ESPN. Who here is going to a game?

Why HSFootball is comfy:
1. Cheap admission
2. Band plays
3. Cheap concessions
4. Community involvement
5. Strategy matters as much if not more than talent.
6. 4th down attempts a lot more common
7. After game turn on fox sports southwest at 11pm to see the sports center of hs football vid related: youtu.be/nHSo-ZovSXI

So what game are you going to tonight?

I live in the northeast so most people aren't into it. Some teams in Pennsylvania have big crowds but it's not like Texas or the south in general.

Every state needs to make a bigger deal out of Friday night lights. They need a decent league structure, a tv highlight show, and a single site state championship location.

Texas does it best simply because they’ve had practice at running a good league and hyping up the game.

I miss this segment that they used to film on the highlight show: youtube.com/watch?v=6uGENxtpQ_4

Pretty stoked, not gonna lie. Wife and I just moved 1000 miles and this will be our first season going to the games for the school our kids will one day attend. I haven’t been to a hs game since I was in hs/a couple years after. Any tips?

Ill be attending games after this week. Califag here. Its based as fuck. I think only Texas is ahead of us in terms of prep football seriousness. Maybe Ohio but we're probably tied with Ohio. Who /binoculars/ here????

If the both teams suck: get there whenever.

If both teams are great: you better go duct tape a towel or blanket to save your seats yesterday.

If the away team is great: prepare to have their fans in your section.

Also, get yourself a stadium seat:::

De la salle already played a game against st Thomas Aquinas last week!

Weird! I thought you guys started later.

Man Cali would be a great state for hs if you could ditch the CIF’s poor league structure and let the UIL fix things. That way you could have a real state championship tournament.

My HS games would draw maybe 300 people

6man?

this is some weird shit, just play rugby at that point

what is this garbage

It is an interesting variation. First person to get the ball cant run with it, everyone is eligible receiver 15yard first downs, 80 yard field. Narrower field. It’s small town, fast, and has a 45 point mercy rule at halftime.

A rule set that has its own cult following. It is meant for small towns.

I think that's just an exhibition game I think. I'm not sure because you're right the state system is fucked and every league is a little different. I'm missing tonight though because I'm going on vacation not for lack of games. I moved to the "city" lol now its like 100k people with two HS teams and my home town is 20 minutes away but that's dIII ball, then there's another country school that's D IV ball that's a little closer. I could watch every Friday night if I wanted to.

T. No soul no spirit pure plastic

>going to watch young bulls participate in sports

This is why the US is so cucked.

Watching this classic game from this past December. Great game!

Western PA here, used to be a lot bigger but we still have some high quality teams. Can’t compete with Texas or Florida though

Like you fucks don’t follow junior hockey.

Do you guys still have two separate leagues? That’s what’s holding you back. Need a United League with a single site state championship triple header that rotated between philly and Pittsburgh every year. Would be totally based.

Going on a road trip and I’m going to. bring back some pic related

Japan has HS baseball, Texas has hs football. youtu.be/CpRc-Km9t3Y

Yeah my region is the WPIAL and schools compete for that title then go to a mini tournament against the rest of the state. But people care more about winning the WPIAL more than the state

It really feels like Pennsylvania is two separate states, from an outsider’s view.

I remember the NFL had the Steelers and Eagles play each other and it didn’t have the same energy that Cowboys-Texans had.

You’re right. Western PA is infinitely more glorious

No doubt

The brits don’t know.

I like the uniforms of hs football. Sometimes you get a unique mascot. But there is something to be said about blatant ripoffs of NFL and college logos.

Damn traffic to the stadiums is starting!

Oh man 1:30 away!

Attached: image.jpg (4032x3024, 1.21M)

No. Consolidation killed my school. I have no connection to the new school.

That said, it doesn't get comfier than HSFB

That sucks. Were they too small and about to drop football?

8. hs cheerleaders

Also a nice benefit.

Football!!!!!!!

>2019
>not going to hs football games to pick up horny teenage chicks

Sad life for young men.

It was a great game, the home team lost on a missed field goal. One point difference.

Is it weird to go to football games by yourself?

just got back from one

depends, how old are you?

23 but I look older because I'm completely bald

Tv had some games on.

Get some friends, good male bonding

Most do.

How was your game?

>watching 18 and under football
Boomers all detected

I’ve researched this a little over my life and the biggest challenge I’ve always ran into is trying to figure out how each state structures their league and playoff system. Every state is so different, and some make it impossible to figure out. Texas has a nice state wide highlight show that comes on every Friday at 11pm. They’ve won quite a few Emmys for their production.

But every state should have a league like the UIL, a highlight show, and a good single site for state championships.

Nothing better than going to AT&T with family and paying $15 to see 3 Super Bowl tier games in a row. And the concessions at Jerryworld are fantastic.

If you ever get the chance, go.

pretty good

Your team win? Was it close? Was it a defensive stop or the offense kneeling down to win the game? Or was it a last second play to win? What happened?

High school scoreboard live!!!!!!
See if anyone else had a good game!

Attached: image.jpg (4032x3024, 1.28M)

Was a close 1st half but then the other team start to get careless with the ball and my team pulled away

Sweet.

That st Joseph prep vs marietta game on espn was great. Lead change with less than a minute left won it for Marietta.

>5. Strategy matters as much if not more than talent.
Why are you lying, OP?

You obviously have never seen the rich white kids beat the undisciplined ghetto kids. Vid related: youtube.com/watch?v=6y1IqSMDW34

This shit is true in college as well. Ever see a service academy win?

Attached: D10006FD-256C-4825-9918-F310FE9DBC7C.jpg (2048x1462, 928K)

I've seen a literal 0 IQ giganigga run over entire teams. Talent matters more when it's spread out, and talent at the HS level is extremely thin outside of a few hotbeds. The higher up you go the more strategy matters because the difference in speed is hundredths of a second instead of full seconds.

This shit just reminds me of how miserable I was in high school and how I missed out on teenage love, no thanks

All of the HS teams around me suck shit, the school I graduated from being hands down the worst in the area.
Every game was just an excuse for the students to hang out for free and for the chads to get blowies down by the tennis court.

there's tiers to this where the importance flips but I'm way too drunk and lazy to explain

>8th grade science teacher was the coach
>Tried to get me to play linebacker for the entire year I had him because I was a fat fuck with immense retard strength
>Turned him down every time because I wanted to go home and play Mount and Blade
I wonder how drastically different I would have turned out if I took up his offer.

I rent a room ina house. The family who owns the home has a kid who plays linebacker. He got 5 tackles tonight and his team won

Exactly. Discipline + strategy > talent

But, you need solid players and you can’t polish a turd.

You’d have had sexGood for him

>You’d have had sex
The option sure as shit would have been open to me, but even as a horny, pubescent 14 year old, I knew every girl in the school was a nasty skank that a sane man wouldn't go near with a 50 foot pole

Yeah, but sex opens up all sorts of doors.
