The English have never had grasp of of football's subtlety and therefor no idea how to properly rare a player beyond his ability to hoof it blindly 60 yards down the pitch into the box on a windy night in stoke. If you look at how the Spanish and Catalonians spoke about Scholes (and to a lesser degree Carrick, the English regista), they heaped praise onto him for his genius ability to read the field and shape a game. I basically don't care what English people say about a player because they frankly don't know what they're talking about, and I'm English myself (Expat in US, hence the flag)
Idk if Scholes ever deserved a ballon dor because he played at the same time as the likes of fat Ronaldo and Ronaldinho etc and you have to remember only ONE player can win it a year. Not winning the ballon dor doesnt prove someone wasn't great in their own right.
