The EFL deadline for both clubs is 5pm today, in 50 minutes.
A proposed takeover of Bury has collapsed in the last few moments, meanwhile Bolton's collapsed over the weekend and the (dodgy) administrators will start "winding down the company" tomorrow.
Whose hundred-year history will survive? Will Bolton get a real Phoenix Club?
pretty sure they're quite happy with the situation given they can sell the land now
Carson Morales
No but you can't let the ownership and management of the clubs get away with years and years of dumb shit decisions. There have to be consequences, even if its sad for the fans. They can always follow the example of Wimbledon and found a phoenix club

God I love when a non-league shitter gets rustled. 2 shit hoofball merchants not existing is so good for the game. Gets us closer to the Euro super league.
Are the clubs going bust or are they just gonna be relegated to non league
Adam Martinez
hahaha yeah cracked me up, is he fuck trying to help.
Justin Brown
can a burger explain whats going on here? How does this compare to when the browns were moved to Baltimore?
Oliver James

John Lewis
Liquidated. They'll just cease to exist forever, and no, shit """phoenix""" clubs do not count as the original.

All Bolton and Bury fans ordered to Manchester city council to be redistributed as United or City customers
The clubs will die then likely set up new clubs under slightly altered names, AFC Bolton or something. Just like Rangers in Scotland, the original club will be officially dead and have to start over.
They'll probably apply to join the Northern League or Northern Premier League.
Brayden Jackson
Kind of, Rangers is basically the same club, meanwhile AFC Wimbledon are spiritually Wimbledon FC
Jack Campbell
That's not quite what happened with Rangers though, Rangers are still considered the same club with the same history by the league.
AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons are both considered new clubs though
Luis Rodriguez
Sevco'd
Justin Lee
AFC Wimbledon had to start two divisions below the equivalent to northern premier so that's the equivalent of 6 relegations.
David Wilson
bristol rovers. their owner is a fake sheikh and will sell it to a shit owner
Jace Harris
AFC Wimbledon are the actual continuation now that they got the naming rights and trophies back. Also moving back to the old ground.
Camden Smith
I support neither team yet I feel dead inside at what's happened.
>Bury Football Club would like to issue the following statement to supporters.
>We understand that this is a difficult and emotional time for all supporters given the recent news regarding a potential takeover.
>While the Club are working hard looking at other potential avenues with other interested parties, we would like to remind supporters that no one should gain access to inside the stadium (unless authorised).
>CCTV is installed at Gigg Lane, and anyone damaging Club property or trespassing into the stadium itself will be identified and appropriately dealt with by the Police, who will have access to current and previous CCTV footage.
>We would like to urge supporters to remain patient and respectful for Club property.
What a fucking ridiculous statement to issue.
David Torres
I'll cheer you up. This is the same people that voted for Brexit. Seeing their shit norvern towns get obliterated by this is based as fuck.
Alexander Price
What a fucking sad cunt you are.
Cooper Bailey
Bolton's talks are going to fail and they'll fold tomorrow. Kek wills it.
This, glad those potbellied gammons are getting their just desserts.
Blake Cox
If you think Bolton going out of business isn’t funny you’re a loser. This should happen every year. The FA should pick a random club for absolutely no reason every year and terminate them just to add some excitement to the sport
Colton Gutierrez

I'm actually very happy :)

Adrian Long
Yea Forums doesn't have downvotes so why would the other guy care

Colton Murphy
what about poor people who didn't vote at all?

SPL should invite Bolton and Bury in desu
Nathaniel Ross
SPL can be kino sometimes desu
Owen Bell
wtf I love the premier league now, anyone can beat anyone thats wot makes it exciting innit.
Aiden Green
you could give all 92 football league clubs an equal million pounds every season and it wouldn't change anything, Bury and Bolton fucked themselves, of course the EFL need to be held accountable but pointing the finger at rich clubs in the premier league is genuinely 50 iq stuff.
Nicholas Reyes
Ideal would be a super league, with promotion available from the domestic leagues
Asher Murphy
isnt that basically how Brazillian leagues work?
Cameron Rodriguez
think you might be right, or MLS or something
Noah Young
Load of bollocks. Football League clubs get so much more TV coverage and TV money than they ever did.
Blame scum bags buying these clubs. Cannot believe people want the PL to bail out the shithousery going on.
I bet they're all Labour voters.
Connor Gonzalez
You're right in that they'd all have to spend £1m that as well to compete. It'd just inflate the market for players and agents. Its the owners that have fucked the clubs. The EFL are meant to protect them with the fit and proper test but they didn't even do the test in Bury's case.
Easton Lopez
>people want the PL to bail out the shithousery going on I never said that. I blame the owners. The state of football finance today means that any club outside the premier league is at risk though.
Jose Cook
>having the skin of shit sorry you lost at life
Joshua Robinson
For casual fucks like you who only see it as entertainment on a computer screen, of course not.
so I don't actually get paid any less then? nice one I really wish I loved the EU as much as you do pal don't really trust bureaucratic blocks that bully smaller nations though, sorry
Colton Long
>you now realise we're the smaller nation that will be bullied when we're not in the eu
Adrian Flores
Same. Even if they aren't "big" clubs they still have their own histories and the fans don't deserve to be put through this.
Grayson Morris
wow that was bad huh
Juan Wood
so what would you prefer? choosing to be complicit in treating other countries like shit in a system you can't get out of, or choose to be bullied but you have no obligation to other nations so you can basically choose your own idea of how your nation will be run - independently
I think you have a very narrow idea of the people voting Brexit. We're all tarred with the same regressive brush you accuse us of but daren't admit it. Racism has to be the only axiom the northern scum who voted Brexit live by right? If you weren't completely dull you'd understand how ironic that is
Jayden Johnson
Putting together resources to form a phoenix for each club and base them out of Iowa lads. For the American market innit.

Bolton were a Premier League/Championship club for so long I can't believe the sheer incompetence of them.
Hunter Kelly
extremely gay behaviour lads
Jaxon Butler
QPRbro here, hoping you finally get promoted and Smyth continues to do well for you.
Angel Murphy
Getting relegated is the first step to ruin. Players on long contracts getting paid £30k a week, then you drop down and parachute payments disappear and you're then laden with debt with no way out.
Bolton have been dodgy for years, there was a BBC Panorama documentary on their dodgy payments to agents when they were still in the prem.
So what has happened the last 10 years that all these clubs are going bankrupt when they existed for over 100 years with no issues?
Aaron King
PL acceleration
Julian Harris
Think about it if the Browns weren't allowed to relocate since everywhere has a team and it can't get a proper owner. It would go under and they'd reform a new Cleveland Browns to succeed it That's what's happening here, there will be a new Bolton Wanderers and Bury FC starting in the lower leagues
Brayden Sullivan
>Costs going up (wages, agents, invention of loan fees) >Other clubs investing more than they're supposed to be allowed to so its harder to keep up >Increasing financial disparity between each division >Influx of complete cunts being owners because owning a super car and a yacht doesn't make their dick look big enough or they're simply in it with bad intentions
Its been threatening for a good 15 years or so but no one's actually failed to complete a season yet.
Isaac Jackson
I'm not sure how the actions of Bolton in the mid-2000s have any impact on them now.
Owen Cox
I am unironically a Bury fan (my Dad and grandparents came from Bury so I've supported them all my life, even if I can't go to games that often) and this is a sad day.
The club got bought by an alleged fraudster and then a dodgy businessman that was trying to squeeze the last few pennies out of it but bit off more than he could chew.
The whole situation is a fucking mess. EFL fucked up letting the takeovers through but it's hard to blame them for swinging the axe. Felt like they were trying to pressure Dale out by setting a deadline and it almost worked. There's only so much they can do.
Matthew Martinez
Ah he's looked class so far.
Maybe a bit feisty at times, but he's got skills
Charles Sullivan
Also I hope you guys do well enough to not sack your manager. Plz don't come for daddy Ainsworth
Blake Smith
Blackpool
Jason Ward
Attendances getting lower combined with more dodgy dealers getting involved as clubs desperately try to keep themselves afloat.
But these problems have long existed in lower-league football.
Brody James
If it all ends how it looks like it'll end then good luck with the phoenix club, hope you stick with it
Not even a big deal now. Look at the Huns. They died then set up a new club and nowadays it’s like they never left. Even most Celtic fans have stopped talking about it.
Sebastian Bailey
Honestly, Bury has been punching above its weight for as long as I can remember and I find it hard to imagine a phoenix club ever returning to the football league.
Then again, fucking Burton were in the Championship last year so who the fuck knows?
I do think The Football League needs a better procedure for dealing with this shit because I can only see it becoming more common.
Also, they'll probably do it from next year as there is a long history of Bury being fucked over by the Football League, including being kicked out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player (they don't do that anymore) and got relegated on goals scored in the 2nd tier in literally the only year that was the decider. Things could have very easily been very different.
Aiden Collins
Mum's from Wycombe, spent my summers there, cousins are season ticket holders, go to about 4-8 games a season
Anthony Edwards
fair enough
Matthew Ward
Put it this way, Rs fans were outraged that he went out on loan.
I can't see us going for Ainsworth. He'd be welcomed, but I doubt he'd last long. I'm happy with Warburton mind.
Ryan Reed
What's worse about theTrueGeordie him being into gay scat or being a cuck?
Thomas Myers
ah yes, Bolton fans waving £20 notes at Leeds fans and gloating, how it all turns around.
>got relegated on goals scored in the 2nd tier in literally the only year that was the decider. I followed a Football League team in the 90s, goals scored was the decider for several seasons.
Also, Bury aren't punching above their weight any more than half of the other teams in League One & Two. There are far bigger issues with football governance than a few clubs punching above their weight.
Nathaniel Flores
Lmao, we're one of the last club's that'll happen to now. We've got a good, rich owner who's investing in the club sensibly.
Nicholas Miller
would love it to be nofundsderland
Blake Thomas
Boyle and the Nevilles don't have league club money on their own, I doubt anyone involved with JD does either.
Lucas Rodriguez
>There are far bigger issues with football governance than a few clubs punching above their weight. This. The EFL actually taking some fucking responsibility for one.
Adam Smith
>2012 was 10 years ago
Aaron Ross
We've got so many options at the front this season, but he should feature quite a good bit anyway. Won us a penalty against MK the other week with some trickery into the box.
Gaz does seem to show up in the betting odds every time the position is open these days. Always makes us nervous. One more promotion and he becomes a god at Wycombe.
Also, did I hear that you're selling Eze?
Thomas Butler
The Nevilles couldn't buy it even if they had the money considering they already own another club in the football league - Salford City.
would you guys say this mad lad looks more like gerry adams or gerry rafferty?
Brandon Rodriguez
>I followed a Football League team in the 90s, goals scored was the decider for several seasons.
Pretty sure it was literally the 1998-99 season, but either that or it was the only result changed. I remember being pissed off at the time.
Bury has one of the lowest attendances in the football league and has done for as long as I can remember.
Josiah Martin
They obviously didn't really want to either. If they wanted it they would've made it happen, but they preferred their pathetic vanity project that nobody in Salford even wants. The football fans of Salford can be split in two. The people who follow United and the people who want to follow a tinpot amateur club, and there's a small amount of overlap there too. Nobody wants another random league club.
Hudson Wilson
If you play any of the CM games of the mid to late 90s you'll see goals scored is the tiebreaker for the Football League.
Jacob Torres
Definitely Gerry Adams.
Austin Parker
I think with Wycome doing so well atm, Gaz won't want to leave even if the job was offered to him. He'll always be in the running every ten months we sack someone just because of his history with us. It's like whenever West Ham sacked their manager, Alan Curbishley always got brought up no matter how long he's been out of the game.
Southampton are interested in Eze and we're not really in the position to turn down big offers should they come in. I hope he doesn't go, but if he does, we've got a strong replacement already in Ilias Chair.
Connor Thomas
thought the same but there's defo a touch of the baker's treat about him
William Edwards
*should
Cameron Kelly
Bradford city will be next
Brody Powell
I'm trying to find a source but google is total dogshit for historical stuff like this these days.
Noah Bailey
It's ugly as shit, what were they thinking?
Nicholas Lee
Nah. Bradford actually has good support which will make it attractive to buyers.
Grayson Jenkins
Are Wimbledon the only successful Phoenix club in the English leagues?
Logan Hernandez
The Park Avenue shall rise again
Sebastian Hill
Who would buy it though after taking even a cursory look at the finances? You'd basically be giving a load of money to a pair of scam artists.
Grayson Diaz
It's a nice connection to their beautiful cathedral Nice that at least one team has a cultural aspect to their badge, rather than some dumb fucking cartoon of a daft animal or an initialism
Tyler Lee
Newport County. Aldershot also got themselves up but have fallen back down into the shitter
Parker King
Accrington, Burton, Stevenage
Austin Williams
>Burton >Phoenix club What?
Jack Evans
Rumour is the cunt that owns Bury has turned down a bunch of credible bids because he wanted a payday and thought the proposed buyers were going to pay him.
I don't really blame the buyers that pulled out. They were timewasters but they were out of their depth and weren't the cause of any of the problems.
Nathaniel Thompson
>Burton >Stevenage
Isaiah Johnson
The animals often have a historical connection though right? I know the Huddersfield terrier was a real dog at least.
Look at Division One, 19th and 20th. I think Bury might have been the only team that were relegated on goals scored, but it decided league positions in less significant situations too.
Aiden James
Leeds United
Christopher Richardson
The worry we have is that because Gaz has that history, he wouldn't be able to turn it down should you ever come knocking. Our potential new owners have made a big deal about GA being part of their plans going forward, so hopefully he'll be ours for a long while, and they should offer him enough money to keep him.
From what I remember, he could definitely make the jump to the Premier League. Everyone thought it from day one at Adams Park
Lucas Foster
Eze I mean
Christopher Flores
Check out Division 3 for that year
James Bell
RB Bolton pls
Lincoln Howard
Can't see where it decided much significant? Fulham still went up, although not as winners, Hereford were down whether it was GS or GD.
Cameron Lee
>-15 is less than -17
Camden Gomez
>Hereford were down whether it was GS or GD. Brighton scored 53, Hereford scored 50. Brighton had -17, Hereford had -15
Nathan Fisher
My bad, lads.
Austin Rogers
EFL going to be very reluctant to get Bolton die and, as much as they may not want to, they will need to treat Bury the same. It ain’t over til it’s over.
Evan Harris
It will be a media shitstorm if they let both of them die.
Robert Green
They'd be reluctant to let any team die. That's why they've still said absolutely fuck all even though it's hours past the deadline. They are pathetic and spineless, that's why they let it come to this and are still doing nothing to resolve it.
Connor Fisher
>They are pathetic and spineless, that's why they let it come to this and are still doing nothing to resolve it. Don't forget paying Shaun Harvey, the Yorkshire king of bankruptcy, at least £1m during his time in office.
All of them in the EFL are slippery bastards.
Landon Ortiz
Lol imagine actually believing this then ranting like you're not some 50 iq bumder from some former steel shithole.
Shit weather is the main reason I'm thinking about moving abroad. Gammon faced poor racists are nowhere near as common as you seem to think.
Ayden Fisher
Yet the south is as popular as ever whilst you shithole fades into irrelevance just like your terrible football clubs. Little Englander scum can fuck off from the Union
Logan Cruz
The people that follow Bolton and Bury aren't going to start supporting manure just because their clubs go out of business. They despise everything that manure is, and this will only make people in those towns hate cunts like you even more.
Isaiah Williams
Lol whatever enjoy your no club
Wyatt Wright
I find southerners have a similar level of delusion about the outside world as americans have
Nolan Hernandez
Remove the football pyramid, soon clubs like Man City will be playing with National League quality players.
Levi Martinez
>Fans *Customers
Gavin Powell
I don't follow either of them, but knowing what it's like to follow my local team I would choose them over manure every single time. You think you have something special when you follow a big club but you don't have a clue, you don't know what you don't have, and you'll never understand. All you can really do is stop talking about it because you dig yourself deeper with every comment you make on the subject.
Lucas Clark
not all of us are deluded as him souf voted leave aswell bar london
Blake Perez
t. thinks we're all fat and have no healthcare
Asher Flores
It's funny because in Bolton and Bury's case, lots of young people do, and that's part of their problems. Both grounds are only 15 miles away from Old Trafford (and about the same from each other).
Blake Watson
You bore
David Perry
Yeah, there are faggots and dumb cunts in every town across the country who will bandwagon despite having great local clubs to follow. But then there are the people who will refuse to follow a big, soulless entity regardless of what else is going on.
Tyler Clark
with all due respect there are hundreds of other clubs at the same level as bolton and bury who haven't gone bankrupt and have responsibly maintained their financial state. I'm getting tired of people complaining about bum-fuck teams going bust and acting as if the world is ending because a few teams spent beyond their limits. Palermo went bust this season and are far bigger and better than either Bolton or Bury. It's just we have a bunch of english fans who overrate their own leagues. if you have such an issue with this, you shouldn't have ever let the EPL form and shouldn't have let the financial structure become so fucked. there is a value to smaller teams being controlled by fan-shareholders instead of a major party who run these clubs into the ground. Bolton and Bury both failed because of their own faults, and it's a damn shame that clubs disappear like this, but it's how life is.
Christian Edwards
the absolute state of this post
Josiah Bennett
But Manchester United, Manchester City, Wigan, Blackburn, Burnley etc genuinely are pretty local to Bury and Bolton.
Ironically, Bolton's success in recent years kind of fucked over Bury, as they are right next to each other. Historically, they were on par and rivals.
Thomas Myers
>you shouldn't have ever let the EPL form and shouldn't have let the financial structure become so fucked Yeah there were plenty of people against it all along Its like me telling you you shouldn't have gone to war with Iraq, not exactly helpful if you're not part of the government.
Michael Rogers
But Bury is the local club in Bury, Bolton is the local club in Bolton. Manure aren't Bury's local club, people coming from Bury or Bolton and supporting manure are bandwagoners, there's nothing else to it.
Gabriel Flores
Are they dead yet?
Ethan Flores
Why is it the EFL's fault that these povvo tier northern clubs can't seem to carry out any form of due diligence on their potentional owners?
James Butler
Because that's what the EFL's Owners and Directors Test is supposed to do.
Jeremiah Brooks
Are you a bit special, mate?
Adrian Morales
Possibly daft question, but why can't the EFL relegate them to League Two and expunge their records for this season in order to get a deal done? Wouldn't have to kick them out of the league that way.
Jackson Murphy
Because then what, you have no promotion from the conference next season?
Jace Mitchell
think it through pal, who would have been able to put a stop to Dale buying the club apart from Dale or Day?
what are they going to do with the creditors though?
Samuel Fisher
Here’s what generally happens in lower league football: 1, Someone gets a bit of money and buys an unprofitable football club 2. They lose money, often burning through money out of desperation 3. They panic and sell. 4. Repeat.
That’s why it’s a constant clusterfuck.
Bolton got too big and the desperation panic fucked them too much while Bury got some really shady characters involved in their last two owners rather than simple incompetents
Ryan Hall
Business idea: We nationalise Bury and Bolton and turn their stadiums into Gulags when they aren’t playing
Cameron Evans
No? Would be the same as usual.
John Bailey
>nationalise clubs And make it like jury duty, all working tax payers become eligible to play for them >Sorry I can't work tuesday boss, been picked to play Sunderland away
Blake Fisher
kek
Ryan Gomez
imagine losing >your club
Dominic Carter
>mfw benefit monkeys get free hospitality boxes whilst everyone else has to slave away for upper terrace seats
Jacob Garcia
10/10
Cameron Ross
>choosing to be complicit in treating other countries like shit bloody hell britain is doing this regardless of the EU since when do brexshitters care about small countries? oh yeah ever since it could be used for their vindictive politics against the EU
Ryan Allen
>imagine buying your way to the prem. >imagine signing okocha , djorkaeff , anelka etc etc etc on high wages > imagine trying to remove relegation and promotion so bolton can be on the gravy train forever. >imagine fans going on to a opposition fans forum claiming theyre bigger than team x because of the premier league years. Nah not fussed lads. Bury im sad about though
Andrew Morales
For me, its Bolton Phoenix and The Bury Burrs
Xavier Jackson
Bolton Phoenix, nicknamed the nights
Camden Smith
lol, piss off My grandad lives in Stockport, he's the most working class, pro-Brexit, Norf FC person there is, and he hasn't been to a single County match since they were relegated from League 2. Most Bury and Bolton fans will just invest their energy into United, or City if they're zoomers
Brandon Thompson
Why cant Peter Kay and Anir Khan join up and save Bolton
They can even wear that Pkistan cricket shirt
Andrew Howard
Older people won't start supporting another team in any meaningful numbers. Younger people might.
Parker Gomez
Because they wouldn't even have 10% of the money required between them, and why the fuck should they anyway? Also it was Paddy who wore the Pakistan shirt.
Christopher Jackson
What if Peter Kay leant his likeness to a brand of GARLIC BREAD?
Noah Myers
Learn your culture, senpai
Peter Kay could raise extra funds by doing weekly gigs at the Reebok. Khan can just do what all good muslims do and scam the fuck out of the benefits system
The Nevilles pumping millions into Salford which will end in disaster while watching their hometown club die.
Hunter Ramirez
Oh Christ no. They're going bust tomorrow.
Michael Sanchez
Bolton have 2 weeks to complete a takeover and prove they have funds for the rest of the season.
Bury are officially gone.
Cooper Baker
GONE. OUT. FUCK OFF. GET OUT
Christian Ramirez
I know I sound like a boomer, but in a day when two clubs probably cease to exist, Sanchez is getting paid 250k a week by Manchester United just to simply not be at the club anymore Fuck the EFL Fuck Premier league customers Fuck Sky And most importantly, Fuck niggers and jannies
>First team to drop out of the EFL since Maidstone
Darlington did it in 2012
Brody Taylor
Darlington were relegated from the FL before they went bust.
Brayden Morris
There have been a few clubs get relegated to non-league then go bust, Chester are another. Bury are the first in 27 years to be expelled from the league, and the first ever from the third tier.
Stockport, Boston, Aldershot, Hereford etc have all faced massive financial difficulties that they've pretty much never recovered from along with Darlo. None of them were kicked out of the league because of it though, they collapsed at a lower level.
>going from the PL to liquidation in 7 years Only Wimbledon died quicker.
Jackson Davis
Nope. They were relegated and then entered administration a few days later.
They were also meant to be relegated last season from the Conference but Gateshead took their place due to financial irregularities
Gabriel Perry
I meant the original Aldershot.
>On 25 March 1992 Aldershot F.C. finally went out of business and were obliged to resign from the Football League. The final game played was a 2–0 defeat against Cardiff City at Ninian Park on 20 March.
Jose Collins
Everyone laughs. But realistically, any club outside the top 6 could go the same way.
Yeah, you need to have an absolute moron handling the books. But Pompey came pretty close. Nobody is safe from shit ownership.
Nolan Rogers
Sad times. Sad state of affairs in the sub-pl leagues. Who holds the lion's share of responsibility? The League(s) or owners? Will anything change? Worried this will continue unabated.
Wish it was Coventry
Connor Gutierrez
I'm pretty sure having two football clubs liquided end expelled from the league on the same day is catastrophic for the image of the EFL. Wouldn't be surprised if government gets involved now.
Grayson Taylor
With any luck we'll start seeing smaller teams like Coventry, Derby, and Leeds go under.
Brandon Peterson
>Debbie Jevans CBE, EFL Executive Chair, said: “Today is undoubtedly one of the darkest days in the League’s recent history. The EFL has worked determinedly and tirelessly to avoid this outcome and it is with a heavy heart that this situation has been forced upon us.
>“The EFL has to place the integrity of our competitions at the heart of every decision we make, and we simply cannot allow this unacceptable situation to continue or countenance the prospect of postponing further fixtures.
>“I understand this will be a deeply upsetting and devastating time for Bury’s players, staff, supporters and the wider community. There is no doubt today’s news will be felt across the entire football family.
>“No one wanted to be in this position but following repeated missed deadlines, the suspension of five League fixtures, in addition to not receiving the evidence we required in regard to financial commitments and a possible takeover not materialising; the EFL Board has been forced to take the most difficult of decisions.”
How much of this statement do you think Debbie Jevans truly believes? Fact is, the EFL couldn't give a fuck.
Chase Peterson
>Thanks you for your custom, now upgrade you sky sports 9k or we'll liquidate another club
How long until a devastated football fan storms into the EFL offices and takes everyone hostage?
Thomas Anderson
They're only saying these things because they have to, really
Juan Nelson
Would be cool if Norf, Souf and Midul came together to storm the EFL headquarters, like the last alliance of men and elves in the lord of the rings
Nathan Gomez
The EFL hasn't been fit for purpose for a while.
Literally any moron with enough money can do whatever they want with a football club, remember that fat fuck who owned Orient? Pretty sure he was cooking the books for fucks sake.
Jonathan Myers
Err...
>After their opening game of the season was cancelled, Maidstone United were given until the following Monday to guarantee that they would be able to fulfill their fixtures. Unable to come up with the necessary backing, they resigned from the league on 17 August and went into liquidation.
>They had been due to contest the Football League Cup first round against Reading, with the first leg played on 19 August, and their demise meant that Reading received a bye to the second round. The final competitive game that the club played had been at Doncaster Rovers on 2 May 1992, the final day of the Fourth Division; the game ended in a 3–0 defeat for the Kent side.
>The collapse of Aldershot and Maidstone meant that the Football League decided to revert to a membership of 92 clubs (70 when excluding the 22 members of the new Premier League) and that its plan for 94 members clubs had to be scrapped.
Lucas Watson
That's what I mean. None of it is genuine. The EFL should have acted when Stewart Day bought the club, let alone Steve Dale. But they didn't and just watched on as it all fell to pieces and had the audacity to try and paint themselves solely as "competition organisers".
so basically the same statement as issued 12 hours ago or whenever the fuck it was
Robert Lopez
Same shit at Blackpool, Oyston literally pocketed all the premier league cash and asset stripped the club. The EFL is a joke
Cameron Wright
So Notlob get a whole extra fortnight to complete their deal? Harsh on Bury.
Juan Walker
That C&N Risk had been doing talks with Dale for 2 and a half months. He kept bullshitting them.
William Martinez
yet I'm completely right. hundreds of clubs are capable of adjusting and not going bankrupt. grow up. acting as if these clubs all of a sudden are the last bastion of english identity when your country has worked to desecrate that for decades. it's not exactly helpful when your entire country has been asleep at the wheel for 30 odd years. EPL establishment was the turning point of football history. football is fueled by money and money alone. it doesn't matter where it goes or comes from. we have enough crocodile tears here
Isaac Long
Bury haven’t played a game this season whereas Bolton have only had 1 game postponed so far.
Jason Morales
The original posters point was that other sides had been kicked from the football league since Maidstone in 1992. I name-dropped Aldershot as they went into adminstration after relegation in 2012 and haven't challenged to get back into the league since then.
Andrew Lewis
Realistically i think a royal commission is the best outcome you could hope for. But I expect they'll just get a stern talking to, make a few reforms, not much will change.
Ah, sorry about that. I forgot about new Aldershot almost going into the shit as well.
Jack Howard
>Bolton vs Bury would've been on the 8th Shame it didn't happen
Eli Morales
Bury were already given the 14 day notice that they were gonna be kicked out unless they get the financies sorted, Bolton hadn't and are getting it now. The more imminent threat is getting liquidated because the administrators threated to today if they don't sell the club, which they haven't....
Oliver Garcia
There's a certain sickness in Sky selecting that as a TV game before the start of the season when they knew the financial problems at both sides.
They should've just held a one off death match at Wembley: Winner gets a £100 million investment, loser is instantly liquidated.
Tyler Ward
Based
Fuck the prem, it was a good idea that's now gotten out of hand.
Hunter Jackson
You are completely clueless on this whole subject.
Jordan Allen
apology for poor english

i was at home renewing sky subscription when bazza ring
'bury is kill'
'who'
and you???
Austin Ward
Blackpool fan here, we came out on the other side and our future is looking great now. But there were times when I thought we'd lose our club as well. Thank fuck we're not Bury or Bolton though...
Eli Jones
Please leave with your total lack of understanding of everything
never understood why they didn't just make the PL 24 teams like the rest of the leagues surely they'd make more money
Gavin Mitchell
What happens now to Bury? So they get expelled, are they allowed to play football in some shitter league outside the EFL as Bury? Or is the team Bury on ice until someone revives it. Is their ground being repossessed? What do now
What would happen to families like this? After reading online it seems a lot of Bury supporters have just given up on football all together, which is depressing as fuck.
Jog on burger. In your Country, you just move teams to a different state when shit hits the fan. Fucking Bury have more history than most of your United “States”
Andrew Kelly
They basically have no chance. Without a competition to compete in they have no income and can't afford to survive, hence liquidation. They whittle away into nothing like Woolworths.
Isaiah Robinson
Absurd idea. What's the point in having 4 more teams for the big bois to waste their time tonking? If anything they will reduce its size.
Levi Thomas
Depends if the club goes into liquidation or not. They will re enter the football pyramid at like the 10th tier or wherever a place opens up
Chase Bailey
I don't even support Bury and I feel the same way.
I saw the news of the takeover collapse (probably because C&N saw the CVA details and shat themselves) at work and I was just numb for the rest of the afternoon. Tried to put it off with the League Cup tonight but this has brought all the negativity back up.
Charles Nelson
bury as we know it is finished. they will probably form a new club and enter at the 8th or 9th tier
Andrew Thomas
>you will never save Bolton from financial trouble and shag that lass with the glasses that blogs about them on YouTube I forget her name
The club will go bust with no income and no prospective buyer to pay off debts. The fans will probably start a phoenix club and most likely go in around the 9th or 10th tier.
Chase King
>their own faults
Steven Dale practically destroyed Bury on his own in a matter of a few months
>Palermo
They still exist and play in the Italian 4th Division. Bury no longer exists.
>hundreds of teams at the same level
Name them
>you shouldn't have ever let the EPL form and shouldn't have let the financial structure become so fucked
A load of hindsight related bollocks aimed at a generation of posters of which a significant majority probably weren't even born when this change took plce in 1992.
>It's just we have a bunch of english fans who overrate their own leagues.
Let me know of any other football league in the world where teams at the 3rd and 4th level regularly achieve average gates in the thousands or tens of thousands, not to mention the community elements whereby dozens of british towns are built around their football clubs. It's something a bandwagoning American that has never visited Europe will never understand.
Levi Gutierrez
It puts into perspetive just how ridiculous the amount of money that gets thrown around by the top clubs whilst smaller teams just a few divisions down are literally falling apart. Needs to be sorted out.
they'll get liquidated, the stadium will get bulldozed and turned into flats and the owner will make some cash. Some fans will start a new amateur club that groundshares with another irrelevant club and get crowds of 500 people a week and they'll haunt non-league as a warning to other league 1 shitters not to spend too much money
Jason Adams
>her in the orange top Welcome to come and watch Huddersfield with me and sit on my lap anytime. We are also shit as well, so it won’t be that bad to watch
I know it's fun to make edgy comments on Yea Forums and bait for free (you)s but if there are actually any english football fans who think clubs being driven to ruin by terrible owners that the EFL seems utterly toothless or simply doesn't care to stop then you're sick in the head. 134 year old club
Jose Murphy
AFC Bury will reform at a lower level, probably the Northern Premier League at absolute best (8th tier). Obivously a lot of fans will lose interest and the gates will be a lot lower than previous ones, and they probably won't even be able to use their current stadium. I'd expect them to go on to be an established Conference North standard side in the next 5 - 6 years but probably nothing much beyond that. The club as it currently is, is effectively dead forever.
Adrian Wilson
I'm definitely not fishing for (you)s and do think the whole thing is fucking reprehensible. However, the game as a whole below the elite clubs is dying, this is little more than a visceral reminder, the same fate awaits the rest of our clubs.
Jack Anderson
>One Harry Maguire would effectively fund every single club in League One and League Two for more than a decade
And yet still they continue to fall.
Caleb Bennett
>Man Utd could get expelled from the Premier League in your lifetime
if they share the tv wealth out they won't be so shit all the time I honestly don't think it's that absurd - it means that 4 more teams get to move up the pyramid and share in the football league I'd say there was a problem in amount of games being played in the prem but desu they earn that much - fuck em. they wanna earn ridiculous money each week you're going to have to work for it.
It's a completely different world. When newly promoted PL clubs are blowing £100m+ on players like it's nothing, it's terrifying.
I've noticed a lot of idiots (especially Tranmere fans for some bonkers reason even though they got promoted) are saying Bury got promoted by signing players on silly money. They got relegated by doing that. When rival fans are actively gloating in the demise of a side, something has gone badly wrong.
Christian James
Thanks boys. All of my questions answered. Rough on the fans, hope its a strong warning and not a sign of things to come. Not particularly hopeful
The way things are going, yes. If this were a perfect world, the money spent at the top would be limited and financial fair play would actually be effective, but this isn't a perfect world. Expect two or three more clubs going under within the next few years.
Owen Ortiz
Making the top table bigger doesn't work like that. If you currently have a situation where most Premier League teams get spanked by the top teams then what do you think will happen to the four more that get added? The big teams won't allow it either because it compromises their chances of competing in Europe. And all it will do is mean everyone outside the 24 is even further away from the top. I honestly don't know how someone wouldn't understand this.
Coventry are still precarious, the Charlton dick is still taking the piss, don't know how much longer Sunderland can carry on in League One the way they are. It's hard to say though.
Cooper Powell
It really could be any one of them. More likely to be a free-falling club from higher divisions though like Sunderland.
Anthony Lee
It’s going to take one of the “bigger” teams going under before more people wake up to it. Imagine if this was a Leeds, Forest or Derby - even fucking Coventry. Much more people would be talking about it
Mason Howard
If Huddersfield go straight back through to League One it could be them. Stoke might be in the shit as well if they get relegated.
Isaiah Watson
>Bolton and Bury may not be big clubs anymore to some top 6 supporters, instead of 50000+ grounds filled by tourists and daytrippers, you have 3000 fans a week at Bury who are there every single week through every single type of heartbreak, right till the end. They deserved more.
Wise words from our lass StuntPegg on Twitter. This is a truth that is lost on bandwagoners, Man United customers and a lot of American glory hunters. These clubs going under is a loss of meaning, purpose, and social elements for smaller cities and towns in the UK that have faced decades of job losses, decline in infrastructure, an ever lowering standard of living, rapidly rising poverty levels and high streets with no shops and unsustainably high rent.
The community element is lost if the only affinity you have with your team is watching them on a screen from the other side of the planet. You'll never know how it feels to see your nan chain herself to the gates of her club in the hopes of stopping it from closing down, and then watch it sink without trace a day later anyway.
Elijah Bell
Now that it's happened the shock of it far outweighs the difference between it being a Leeds or a Bury.
Charles Murphy
Any club that is not in the top 10 of the premier league.
Back in the 90s, Brighton was getting fucked over by it’s owners, a few clubs wanted us to be expelled but the majority were supportive of the cause. Ended up having a Plymouth argyle fan propose that there be a ‘fans united’ movement where supporters from a bunch of different teams showed up to vouch their support for Brighton against the owners. Ended up having fans from all over the U.K. come to a match against Hartlepool. We even had a few people come over from Germany and Poland to lend their support. It was a good day.
It’s a sad thing when that sort of thing has never really happened again. We were lucky to get the support, but clubs like Bury and BW need that shit today. Football is in a rotten state and money has killed the fun of the sport.
Isaac Nguyen
Fuck off with that shit you pathetic manchild.
Angel Hernandez
>British football clubs owe about £3,517,300,000 to banks and owners. Manchester United top the table with £496 million. Chelsea & Everton at the bottom as owners fund clubs via shares rather than loans. Figures from most recent accounts.
Based on these figures, I'd have to pick out Hull given their dreadful owners who are asset stripping and borrowing money to line their own pockets. Coventry and Blackpool are also decent shouts given their terrible recent ownership situations.
Coventry are fucked tbqh. They've already lost their ground. Sunderland are fine, they are about to be taken over by a bunch of rich yanks.
The demise of Bury and Bolton should be a warning to other EFL clubs that it could happen to you. It's a fucking disgrace that the wages of a few Man City players could of saved an old club like Bury from death but that's the reality of modern football.
Ayden Cooper
fund it
Blake Thompson
>Football is in a rotten state and money has killed the fun of the sport. And the worst bit is it's slowly going down the pyramid. Shit like Tamplin-era Billericay Town, Vince-era Forest Green and Yanited-era Salford should not be happening.
Adrian Long
Another Blackpool fan here. Today is a reminder just how fucking lucky we really got. I hate Bolton and I hate Bury but fuck I genuinely feel for the fans
Macclesfield literally have a winding up petition next month, I reckon they'll be next Coventry possibly, they are homeless and in a major shitshow Charlton and Notts County look like possible shouts and I expect Salford will go horribly wrong soon as well
Adam Rodriguez
Stoke is bankrolled by the bet365 guy who's a local >lifelong
I was at Bolton away when they gave it the Kevin Olsson chants and I was at Bury away when they unfurled the Oyston in banners. Still didn't want the cunts dead.
Wyatt Sanchez
modern football is a bubble and when it bursts it's gonna destroy the sport altogether when that happens what will even be left to live for?
Realistically it's any club that isn't top 6 + Everton. Sure Leicester and Wolves look good right now but it could all go wrong for them quite easily too.
Connor Hughes
Listening to Radio 5 live, feeling quite emotional lads.
Caleb Ward
The only thing I can see bursting it is that Super League shit they proposed. If that happens, the sport would collapse on itself.
William Reyes
Doesn’t matter. Huddersfield got promoted with a >lifelong chairman and eventually they have to give up either because of other business interests or the absolute money sink that owning a football team out outside of the elite clubs is. Wigan are in the same boat, now that Dave Whelan is gone, nobody is going to put that amount of money into a club like them again.
Caleb Mitchell
Delusional. The Super League shit is inevitable and exactly why this shit is happening.
That’s just a bit of stadium banter. With Bolton and Bury gone, all that history and the chance to dab on them on a match day is gone. As a Huddersfield fan, I hate Leeds, but fuck me I’d miss playing them. A chance to beat them is probably going to be the highlight of what’s going to be a terrible season for >us
Juan Nelson
don't support either team but this is sad, more needs to be done by the EFL to make sure not just any old scam artist takes a club over
Dylan Ramirez
we're clearly moving towards it and i agree, it's gonna collapse and bring the sport with it i fully believe we're gonna see football disappear in our lifetime
Dylan Green
She unironically has self-harm scars on her arms
Isaiah Thompson
Well one of their chants was about one of theirs killing one of ours so it's a little bit more than just a chant. But there are scummy fans of every team, most fans are just guys and girls who want to follow their local team on a Saturday.
Daniel Gray
Underrated
Charles Murphy
>Steven Dale practically destroyed Bury on his own in a matter of a few months he shouldn't have been allowed to be an owner >They still exist and play in the Italian 4th Division. Bury no longer exists. Phoenix club. Like will happen with Bury. >hundreds of teams at the same level Every team in EFL, Bundesliga 2, La Liga 2, any tier two clubs >A load of hindsight related bollocks aimed at a generation of posters of which a significant majority probably weren't even born when this change took plce in 1992. Yet you've had the ability to change it and correct it for nearly 30 years. Okay. Dayton Dragons - Class A baseball team who average 7-9 thousand per game. Ironically, in terms of revenue, J1 League, the Chinese league, MLS, Nippon Professional Baseball, Campeonato Brasileiro, all make more than EFL. Per team Bundesliga 2 makes comparable numbers You can act as if Europe is some "paradise" of sporting and heritage but you know that's bullshit. Also, Palmero got 6 thousand season ticket holders this season despite going bust and starting at the bottom. 6 tier 3 Germany clubs average over 10,000 per season. Nobody believes this shit but you and your autistic UK friends who claim they have some world view that surpasses Americans. >Jog on burger. In your Country, you just move teams to a different state when shit hits the fan. Fucking Bury have more history than most of your United “States” This is legit the most cringe worthy comment I have ever seen posted. Some shitter club who went bankrupt
Ian Ramirez
>And all it will do is mean everyone outside the 24 is even further away from the top. I honestly don't know how someone wouldn't understand this. but they play in the premier league and therefore receive the financial benefit of playing in that league, thus their teams strengthening through revenue and improving the league system I mean I know none of the other top leagues in Europe do it but we are also far richer than them >big teams won't allow it I don't disagree, I'm talking purely speculatively here >everyone outside the 24 is even further away from the top it's not about being at the top. you should know this
Ethan Rogers
This is fucking dreadful to read.
Bentley Johnson
But it won't work like that because you'll still have teams overspending to get to the top, overspending to stay there, collapsing when they fail. It will not change anything whatsoever.
Hunter Morales
Bleh, as a Leeds fan, we’ve heard it all. Huddersfield fans singing about Jimmy Saville being “one of our own” and Millwall wearing Galatasary shirts. Even fucking Stoke were chanting about it at the weekend - nearly 20 years since those lads were stabbed, btw
Jack Fisher
Its not an easy life supporting Bolton, even less so now
Brandon Ortiz
It's been twice that since the Noblot scummer killed our lad and I still hear them come out with it.

Just fuck off you sad cunt. Isn’t there some baseball or some shit on?

Fuck EU and fuck faggots licking EU's ass. UK will thrive outside of it, where as EU will crumble between southern economies (Greece was minor compared to what's coming from Italy) and pushing the nationalistic Eastern countries over the edge with forced immigrant deliveries.
Other than that, RIP Bury and Bolton. I know how it feels, because our local team went bankrupt and threw us down many divisions few years back.
