His teacher got in plenty of real fights. Sport fighter is limited, like that cage fighter that got his hand opened up from wrist to fingertip by a mugger's knife a few years ago. Their were many ways to make Cliff look badass while still maintaining Bruce's dignity. However Tarantino decided to make him a stereotypical pompous and exotic kung fu chink.

He could of easily made the scene of Bruce being a down to earth martial artist and shown Cliff sparring with and even beating him. But instead he had to set it up as Bruce being some sort of hyper insecure bully and magically give Cliff superhuman strength just so he can beat the shit out of him.

I'm not one to be sensitive or complain about racism in media but this just seemed like it was put in to either shit on Bruce Lee or asians in general.

Bruce was not shown as some sort of cool guy that left his mark on the world, he was portrayed as an incompetent buffoon, in the same group as the Manson kids in the movie, who were actual heinous killers.

Tarantino wanted to make one of the most biggest Asian stars the world has seen look as retarded as people who committed first degree murder.
